it's just this universe. Wyatt was poor and cared more about abilities. Dragon's went extinct and were written off as nothing but a fantasy. Wyverns are the first dragon like contact these humans have seen since dragon's went extinct. stop reading if you don't like spoilers. Wyverns in this universe were created using the blood of dragon's mixed with various other creatures because elves wanted a beast that could counter dragon's. Their creation unfortunately was less intelligent and fast more violent then the dragon's. only respecting those that could kill them in a fight. Becoming the mounts for various races on various planets due to the genetic blending.
