I feel like Young Jae is a realist if anything because of what he's been through in the past and Min Jun just doesn't want to complicate an already complicated relationship further by continuing a relationship with someone who he'll never have those kind of feelings for so it is definitely not the greatest thing to do but at least they'd be honest about it and not try to drag it out any further than they already have. As it stands yes they'll get hurt but that's unavoidable and I have no doubt if they are such great friends first they'll be able to work it out much later
