Gabriel's body was still in the secret club, they couldn't literally bring his body outside of there, because it would be like using a flashlight in the dark. so either Erik morphed, he would still be found out. The attack on the villa took place soon after they got out of the club, that's because they had to take advantage of the small window of time they had available before they found the body.
