Good Chapter. I honestly believed that he had not chosen to be a primarch because of his pride, he himself said that he considered himself a winner. It is silly to believe that someone like that would want to have the face of another, however as a custodian he can keep his original body (in quotes) but improved to the maximum of his potential as a custodian.

An important fact, the custodes have a problem increasing their psychic power, or at least that's what I understood from the books. To improve your psychic power you need to obtain titles that will be placed in your soul to make it bigger. I understand it like this: achieving great feats and victories or attracting great adoration or idolatry towards the guardian, that increases his energy for a few moments. With that potential psychic energy you shape a name or title and inject it into your soul, turning that energy into yours forever.
