There are changes amongst these chapters it's subtle as multiple times the mc comments on it how people are stronger then in canon or luffy didn't seem to handle it [the kuro fight] these chapters also help develop the mc relationship with some of the characters well at least with zoro luffy and nami also the fanfic is moving extremely quickly into alabasta spending about an arc a chapter overall I think it's fine if u don't like it then fair enough.

the author said it will follow canon until alabasta and it seems the mc is strong enough but is wanting to make the journey smooth by sticking to canon for now.
