I explained it before and I’ll explain it again. In the first Doctor Strange’s movie, the Ancient One defined magic like a programming code. Portals are essentially wormholes connecting two points in space. Despite what Disney show in MCU, it’s not easy. Something they showed when Strange and Mordo tried to escape (and failed) the mirror dimension when they were chased by Dormammu’s fanatics. Ever since then though, they seem to have forgotten it and obviously others did too…
