People these days really son't know what good underdog story is. They think underdog means training till you are level 100 and participating in level 50 tournaments as a "dark horse". Underdog means wining not by fighting fair or fighting even. Underdog means losing a limb to win, dying and taking your opponent with you! There is no such thing as an underdog fight, where the MC comes out whole. The whole point of the genre is that. MC is weaker than the enemy, so he loses or gives up something precious to succeed. The days when Goku was barely resisting death by ultra Divine water, just so he could fight King Piccolo or when krillin lost his life so he would transform are gone. Now it's just form achieved, badabum! No longer underdog! You win!
