at least here he didn't say his parents or his own feelings for them because they are his parents. he made the distinction clear by saying predecessor or his body. As for the emotions, he said complex at first which is normal i think to feel something, it doesn't have to be hatred or anger, maybe pity... Then the instinct kicks in as well the innate bond, which can stem from what you said or just instinctively projecting his own real parents. Anyway, i like that he didn't dwell on it.
there are invincible protagonists too who never lose in the plot.
