Once again reinventing "curse of the sea" to work in any water is clearly non-canon, it works either in seawater or by touching kairoseki - "the seastone". It was stated that the seawater in One Piece world is radiating some kind of waves - which is unscientific, but it is what it is. What makes sense and what does not by OP world inner logic is up to Oda to decide. Vegapunk theoretised, that devil fruits are manifestations of human desires. It is strange, to put it mildly, to hear such esoteric theory from supposed "world's best scientis", because it pulls the whole story more to "faith" and "power of friendship's" end of the spectrum than actual science, but it is canon. Either we take this by face value or simply stop reading "One Piece". By your logic DF's should not work at all - because their users clearly drink water every day, which means it they are always in contact with it - it is splashing in their stomachs. That would certainly be a dumb thing to read.
I will give it full marks as far as ch. from 1 to 24 goes. One of the best GOT fics out there. The writing quality is great, although there are some minor stylistical mistakes such as repetitions in obe of the battle scenes overall the stylization is almost perfect. The plot is logical and realistic, MC's advantages come purely from political and economic situation and his rise makes sense from the world's inner logic. I almost wait for something ridiculous in the future, like successful expedition to the Old Valyria or some other pie from the sky, that's how smooth it is until now. Compared to other fics(especially kingdom building ones) it is pure gold, don't miss it.
If the swordsman is able to attack the spearman that means one thing - he got out of spear's tip range and inside of the spearman's defence. After that the spearman won't be able to attack or defend effectively as author imagined. Two choices - either he drops his spear and tries to pull out his dagger or whatever side weapon he has to fight for his life(actually he most likely will try to engage in brawling, but it is too much to ask here) or - he will die. Spears in general are not suited for duels or fencing, as far as I'm aware there were no such thing as "spear fencing schools", short halberds - yes, for naginatas in Japan, spears - none. Spear shines in infantry lines, not in duels, if you are unable to consistently hold your adversary at the spear's tip - you will lose, that's the iron law. Pure game logic and no understanding of medieval arsenal.
First 3 chapters that are available at the time of the review are unusually good by this site usual quite low standarts. Author knows how to write and does so rather splendidly. 5 stars for now, although that may change after the main plot starts and there will be more opportunities for the author to fall into the same laughable tropes usual ASOIAF fanfic writers.
"As the apples were more heavy then leaves the were the first ones to reach..." Time for elementary physics, kids. Mass does not affect speed of falling objects on our planet in any significant way. Here is how you deduct the time in which an object falls - t=√ (2h/g), there is no mass in the formula. What affects the speed is air resistance, and an apple will fall faster then a leaf because of its aerodynamic form. Mass significantly affects the energy on impact though which could be mistakenly associated with speed of a falling object. A guy named Galileo Galilei found this by throwing stuff from the Leaning Tower of Pisa at 1589, so you don't have to).
Don't let the free chapters, name and description fool you, it's basically, another cultivation novel, full of spiritual(read - "extremely vague for author convenience") crap, religious strife etc. Mech building in this novel is not a scientific process or engineering feat, it's more like "I'm an artist, I see it like that". And machine spirits, yeah. And all of this starts right after the paywall)). Adeptus Mechanicus approve. I'm not. 2 for "Updating Stability" is only to make it ineffective for overall rating. I don't think this metric worth 20 % of overall rating.
So, the ship was propelled forward by the strong waves from collision of two tsunamis or something. At the same time time full sails were unfurled. From my(pretty amateurish) point of view this is a way to capsize the ship or at least to lose some upper wood.
"Weight: 10 kgs" - how the f&%@#/! much?! Warrior's sword weights around 1-2 kilos, you need to be into bodybuilding to strike 10 kg staff 100 times in one go. "A simple stick" of that weight either made from "simple" ironwood and looks more like a whole young tree, or made from some super fantasy wood. Just to be clear - it says "kgs" in the text. And he needs to run 1(one) kilometer as other, supposedly equal task. Author doesn't know what he is talking about.
If Bonbori is effectively immortal, then Toki's still limited powers won't be able to affect his flesh to the stage of rotting. The fish even able to use haki, wich in OP world is kinda helps to negate or resist fruit powers, so I think there is a problem with inner logic here. Not critical, but still.
For me it seems, that you are not understand how feudal system works, fief is not real-estate, they are given to a family, then inherited by right of blood. If there was a full-blooded Dustin girl inheritance by marriage will be possible, because a child born in such marriage will be half-Dustin. But Lady Barbery is not Dustin by blood, only in name, it's a very weak and forced claim, literally anyone can can disapprove it. And ironmen are rebels now, so, what the heck, it's outright stupid to rely so heavily on some *****y legal exuse to make a land-grab. Literally anyone can proclaim them rebel associates and go for the kill regardless of real state of things. For it to be sucsessful they need at least Starks approval, but I will drop this novel immediately, if author makes something like that possible by some improbable turn of events.
Can't agree more to the comments about this whole plot line being forced. Looks like Eric Cartman's "garden of betrayal" - a parody to GoT. Harlan the Reader is not a maniac. Actually not everyone in GoT are. Lady Dustin doesn't have any strong feudal claims to any land - Dustin's lands are her husband's and they got a male heir. Without him they will belong to Dustin's closest relatives men approved by Winterfell after her death, not to any man, who was able to court her. Her father's lands have a lot of sucsessors, so what land Harlan is talking about? Yes, you can claim lands by force in the middle ages, but it is Westeros, not some no man's land, he won't be able to secure a place in the mainland. The only thing he can get by kidnapping is gold, but is he stupid enough to ask for it from the house "who gave him" his newfound power? In that arc he should be called "Harlan the Crazy Suicidal Maniac".
I explain a bit what I mean. Making MC a OP royalty was good, but the execution is mediocre and plot movement details are very generic. Who will teach the haki? Ofc your trusty Boa Hancock. Like any other FF can't live without her. No "old mysterious ossan with a story" or something unique or original for you. Why Mera-mera and not your own original fruit? Because Ace is popular I suppose. Why "fruit chooses his master"? Because chinese novels do it like that. No ancient mechanism, no riddle puzzle, not making up anything of that. BTW I'm pretty sure, that "intelligence" of the fruit won't manifest in any way later in the story. And so on and so forth. OP for me is a great world - because it is about adventure, venture into the unknown and amalgamation of everything under that category. Unknown treasures, new lands, new people, races, animals. And all you do is putting already known things and characters into your FF. Yeah, it is expected from the FAN fiction, but at some point it is becoming irritating - I am starting to feel, that OP world is having a size of your average neighborhood and you can't move around without bumping into people you know. I can't believe in the worldbuilding like that. Oh, and btw, do you really think that if the fruit reincarnaition is really easy - to the nearest fruit - OP world residents wouldn't be able to notice this fact over hundreds of years? Maybe you already abandoned that idea, but just bare theory itself sounds ridiculous to me.
