of course culture doesn't equate to language rules. culture is regional and varies a lot. a language can have hundreds of different cultures that speak it, and it'd be a herculean task to learn them all. unwritten rules usually stay unwritten because they were deemed less important to begin with. and yeah, some uncomfortable people will speak out, but that doesn't make them right, just ignorant. believing that your cultural way is the definitive way is very human, but it's also ignorant.
