Chapter 7

Week-end!

Candy arrived very early on a Saturday morning, preparing to study. After sitting down, she ate her breakfast which she brought from the house. After eating, she commenced with her studies. At around 5pm, Daniel came to school to sort out his transfer. On his way back, he saw someone like candy and went to have a look and finally confirmed it was Candy. Daniel: "Hey Candy. Are you about going home? I good give you a ride". Candy: "Nope, I've got about three hours left before going home." Daniel: "when did you arrive? Besides the moon should be out by then. Would you be able to walk back to the house alone?" Candy: "I arrived very early in the morning around 7am. It's a normal routine for me. I will be fine." Daniel: "There's no way I'm leaving you here. Go on with your studies. I'll wait for you to finish." Candy: "ok suite yourself. By the way why are you in school at this time of the day?". "Don't tell me you love to the point of tracking my whereabouts" Candy jokingly added. Daniel, with a grin said: "you are not entirely wrong you know" "I had an appointment to come finish up with my transfer. As you know, I didn't attend my first semester in this school". Candy: "ok" she continued with her studies and at 8pm Daniel reminded her it was time they left and she reluctantly closed her book, packed her bag and was ready to head home. On their way Daniel stopped home and said hop-in. Candy: "Is this your car? I don't want to be on the news tomorrow for stealing someone's car. That's the last thing I need now". Daniel laughed heartily and replied "woa woa woa woa calm down. It's my car rest assured we won't be arrested. There are a lot of things you don't know about me. With time you'll understand but for now let's head home." Candy finally entered the car after being reassured by Daniel over and over again that it's his car. They soon arrived at Candy's house. Candy said goodbye to Daniel and went inside the house. Waiting for her inside the house were her junior sister, Jenny and her mom, Juan. Mom: "who just dropped you off? My child please don't be deceived by social engineers. They'll lead you astray. You are an aspiring computer engineer you should know better. Never forget that education is the key" her mom kept talking and talking to the point she could take it no more. Candy: "Mom that's my classmate he came to see me off since it was already late and he couldn't let me walk home alone". Mom: "oh ok. You should have said so since". Candy murmured: "As if you gave me the chance to speak". Mom: "what did you say?" Candy: "nothing. I'm tired. I'll go have my bath, eat and rest". While eating, Candy's junior sister, Jenny came and sat beside her and whispered: "so tell me the truth. Who's that guy just now?" Candy glanced at her and said nothing, clearly ignoring her. Jenny cunningly said: "you've found yourself a rich boyfriend and you are hiding it from me. So when are you guys getting married?" Candy angrily said: "what part of he's my classmate did you not understand? Get lost" jenny: "ok sis. Jeeez… is that why you are this angry? Anyways good night! I love you!" Candy sighed, finished up with her meal and went to bed.

On arriving home, Daniel found out its been over two months and he hasn't gotten Candy's phone number so he made up his mind to go to school tomorrow and study with Candy since she said she will go back to school to study around 12 noon. After the session he could then collect her phone number.

Sunday!

Candy woke up very early in the morning, did her chores and went to church while at Daniel's place, he having a headache. Daniel's mom, Juliette and junior sister, Jane paid him a surprise visit. Miss Juliette: "you still haven't told me why you left the house and even enrolled into a university pretending to be a transfer student. What about your business? Do you plan on not working again? How are we going to survive if you no longer earn money? I told you to get a woman and settle down with her. Which woman will get married to a poor man?" Jane: "mom is right. You can't just abandon everything and act impulsively. You still have to provide for us. I need to go to school. Don't expect me to drop out of school because of this your madness". Daniel: "mom, Jane you guys should come down. Firstly, the business is doing better. I didn't say I'll stop working I have a lot of companies under me I can't just quit. So of course I will continue to take very good care of the both of you. Mom I know I am of age to get married. Trust me I am currently working very hard on that". Mom: "now you are talking. Don't take too long. I need a grandson as soon as possible". Daniel: "you guys can now get lost I need to rest. I have classes tomorrow. Jane, don't forget to study very hard and make me and mom proud". Jane: "I've heard you. Stop nagging. I really want to know how you plan on finding a wife. We've never heard of you having a female friend talk less of a girlfriend." She sighed and added: "miracles do happen". After that she immediately ran away. His mom bade him goodbye and left while laughing. After they left, Daniel kept thinking of strategies to collect candy's phone number. It was finally 11:30am. Daniel got ready about an hour ago and kept on hoping time could be forwarded. At 11:30 he left the house, driving very fast. In less than 10 minutes he was already in school. He didn't immediately get down from his car but waited for Candy. When Candy arrived, she was surprised to see Daniel. She just told him she would come and study. She didn't expect him to be there. Daniel got out of his car, greeted candy with a very big grin plastered on his face and they proceeded to look for a class with electricity. Candy planned on working with her laptop today but her battery is bad so she can only work where there is electricity but unfortunately for her there was no electricity in the whole school and she couldn't go back to the house since she knows she will never study there. A crazy idea suddenly struck Daniel and he immediately spouted it out: "why don't you come and study at my house? I guess you need to study for the CA and also do the exercise given by the programming lecturer not forgetting we have him first period tomorrow morning". Candy didn't think deep into it since she thought Daniel lived with his parents. Candy: "ok sure". Daniel was elated and asked her to hop in. On reaching the house, Candy found out there was no one inside the house apart for the gateman they met outside. Candy: "it seems there's no one at home. I guess they all went out. Anyways it's Sunday". Daniel: "there's no one because I live alone you could go to the study and go on with your work" Daniel walked her to the study knowing fully well she was nervous but he didn't say a word and went to the parlor.
