Chapter 56: Fairly Simple

Shoko stares at the cloaked figures as a powerful gust of wind blows their cloaks in the wind. The flapping cloaks cover the full moon behind them until one of the cloaked figures vanish appearing directly in front of Shoko throwing a punch.

Before Shoko could react, the powerful slammed into her nose, rocking her head back. Shoko stumbled back as blood leaked out of her nose. As blood poured out of Shoko's nose, Mute twitched his fingers, sending a razor-sharp string propelling towards Shoko, the string chopped off a corner of a roof until suddenly Mute's shoulder awkwardly lifted up dislocating, the string hurling towards Shoko went haywire wrapping around itself before it stopped, Mute stared at his shoulder until he glanced back at Null still standing on the roof. 

" I have to be the one to kill Shoko, it's in the request. "

Mute scoffed before yanking his arm back into place. Mute dashed back as Null lunged past him throwing a kick toward Shoko, Shoko raised her guard blocking a high kick, Shoko's shoes skidded across the ground until she ended up in the middle of the road, Shoko lowered her guard until the force of the kick repeated.

Shoko stared at her bending arm confused as the force of the kick repeated slowly growing stronger. Shoko's body slams through a building creating a massive hole. Shoko rises off the ground with her right arm bruised and twisted, clearly broken. Shoko takes a deep breath as she quickly heals her arm back to normal. 

Null slowly walked toward Shoko, who was staring at the cloak figures. Mute watched the fight happening in front of him slightly annoyed. He was planning on killing Shoko quickly and escaping before Gojo could arrive but clearly Null was taking her sweet time to kill Shoko. Mute had his arm crossed tapping his left arm impatiently until a powerful step was heard behind him. 

Mute quickly spun around and tracked a blade wrapped in a spotted cloth, Mute sidestepped the attack before a blonde man went sliding past him, Mute quickly threw a high kick but before his kick could reach something slammed into his side, sending his shoe skidding across the ground. 

Mute comes to a grinding stop before dashing back, gaining distance. Mute stares at a green doll confused until he watches as a man with dark brown hair walks out of the alley behind him, and Nanami glances back and talks to him. 

" Looks like your hunch was spot on Yaga, but where is- "

Before Nanami could finish his sentence the sound of a woman's voice yelled out, catching him off guard. The woman was standing on a roof. 

" I'm right here, but I don't know where Kusakabe is. "

Said Mei Mei as her blue hair blew in the wind. Mute looked up at her before smacking his lips. Mute was surprised. He didn't think the response would be this fast. Nanami looked at Mute before talking. 

" I don't understand why you are surprised. The plan was pretty easy to see through. You attacked all of those sorcerers to make Shoko drain her energy, and then you would kill her while she was weak. "

Nanami was exactly correct. Mute and Null attacked all of the sorcerers outside of Tokyo, keeping them barely alive to drain Shoko's energy. The elderly man however fought back ferociously forcing Mute to kill him.

Mute glanced around staring at the grade 1 sorcerers in front of him before taking a deep breath as he twitched his fingers rapidly... 

As Mute was caught off guard by the grade 1 sorcerers ambush, the battle between Null and Shoko could be heard echoing through the city, Shoko's body was covered in dried blood and bruises, as Null repeated the action of the kick, Shoko slammed through another building, Shoko's body rolled onto the building's carpet until she slammed into a glass dinner table shattering it. 

Shoko pushed off the carpet as it was covered in shattered glass. Shoko kneeled on one knee as she watched Null walk into the house through the hole she made. Shoko quickly healed the wounds on her body and sprinted towards Null throwing a punch. 

Null easily slips the punch before grabbing the back of Shoko's head and throwing a violent knee into her body. Shoko leaned over in agony until she flung her head back slamming the back of her head into Null's chin, sending Null's head flying back. 

Null stumbled back until she grinned while looking up at the ceiling. The force of the knee repeated causing Shoko to drop to her knees in pain before Null spun slamming her heel into Shoko's chin, launching her body through the building. 

Shoko came to a rolling stop in the middle of the road. Three of Shoko's teeth were cracked as blood poured out of her mouth. Shoko breathed heavily as Shoko healed the wounds in her mouth, however, the healing was slow. Clearly Shoko was reaching her limit. 

Null confidently strutted towards the injured Shoko, Null's footsteps echoed out as she walked onto the road, Null was about to say something until she suddenly halted and looked up at a roof surprised...

As Null tormented poor Shoko, the battle between Mute and the first-grade sorcerers was still happening. Their battle could be heard throughout the city. Mute could be seen leaping from roof to roof while sending several slashes at the chasing grade 1 sorcerers. 

Mei Mei leapt over a string before taunting Mute. 

" What's wrong Mute? I know it's been years since our last battle but surely you haven't become passive? Do you plan on running for the entire fight? "

Mute ignored her comment before he ducked under Nanami's slash, Mute spun and threw a kick towards Nanami's side, the kick was about to land before a green doll jumped in the way blocking his kick, Mute stared at the doll annoyed before he shrunk the distance between his fist and Nanami's face slamming a powerful punch into Nanami's face, 

Nanami was launched off the roof from the powerful punch, while Nanami fell off the roof a grin appeared on his face, Mute stared at the grin confused until a figure went past his body, Mute felt a slash go across his shoulder as blood spewed out his left shoulder. 

Mute glanced back and saw Kusakabe holding his sword above his head. Mute was clearly injured by the man's attack. Mute smacked his lips, it became apparent to him. This fight wasn't going to be easy...
