Prologue: Where it all started.

"And that concludes today." When class was over, the instructor said, "Good work class!" I left the room and walked outside. I bid my pals farewell. I then set the bus stop as my destination. Just in time for the bus to leave, I made it to the stop. I'm so excited to be home that I'm already somewhat hungry. I exited the bus when it came to my stop. I was heading for the home. But my legs were already feeling quite worn out. Finally home, huh? I yelled as I flung open the door and walked inside. I unlaced my shoes and kicked off my musty boots. While my mum was unable to be seen, my dad appeared to be watching television.

I was only welcomed by my younger sister. She embraced me and murmured, "Hey, big brother." "Hey sis," I said as she released her hold on me and retreated to her room. I then set my bulky backpack down on the table. Already I felt hungry and exhausted. I got up and went in search of some lunch. However, I soon began to hear some sounds. My father was still sleeping and snoring loudly as I looked around the living room. To see if my sister was okay, I opened the door to her room and found her playing on her computer. Her actions gave the impression that she was alone in her head. As a child her age ought to be.

I approached my sister and put a hand on her shoulder, saying, "Annie, I'm going to check something out. Stay here." She nodded. I closed the door after leaving her room. I hope this doesn't wake up dad. Now I'm going for the basement. I squeaked up to the door. The kitchen and living room were both necessary passageways for me. As I made my way back to the living room, I said, "Of course it was locked." I examined a few drawers.

Then I realized what it was. It was on my dad's enormous leg. Does this actually seem like a good idea? I moved slowly in his direction. My body was being emptied of my soul. When I passed the table, I almost knocked over a plate. Right on cue, I was able to capture it. Then I went to my dad. I only needed to steal the key. However, my dad was almost awake despite his intoxication. So I simply seized the key in a hurry. I placed it in my pocket. After that, i began to creep towards the basement door. N onetheless, I was able to open it this time. I was concerned. "What may be in there?" When I opened the door, darkness enveloped the staircase.

This is insane, I thought. I took my phone in my hands and lit the flashlight. I began making my way downstairs. I ascended the steps. Murmuring was audible to me. I started to scan my surroundings. Then I noticed someone. My whole body shook. I cried out in fear, "Who is there?" I heard just muddled noises; nobody responded. I whirled around. I moved toward the cabinet after that. I pulled my father's pistol out. I shouted, "I've got a gun," but nobody responded. They were audible, as were the noises within my brain. When I thought I was going insane, I moved toward the sound.

It was mother. For more assurance, I looked closer. However, it was her. She was on the ground nude, covered in blood. She had bruises all over her body. I approached her face more closely. I removed the mouth tape from her. then asked. "What's happening, mom? What transpired?" My voice was wracked with agony. Mom, though, spoke out. She continued, her voice trembling and racked with anguish, "It's your dad, he tied me up here and beat me. I focused my gaze on her more.

She had something in her gaze. Something lurks behind me. Dad was waiting for me as I slowly turned around. "Sorry, son." When he finished, he struck me. He slammed me up against the wall. I clung to the pistol in my pocket. T hen took it out. The pistol got jammed when I attempted to fire a shot. His punch was visible as I turned to face him. I could see it approaching. My consciousness suddenly left me when his fist struck me in the face.
