Chapter 2

"We're born free. All of us. Free. Some don't believe it, some try to take it away. To hell with them! Water like fire, mountains of ice, the whole bit. , and you'll know what freedom is, that it's worth fighting for! Fight to live, risk it all for even a glimmer of real freedom! "Levi Ackerman?" You repeated and he gave you a small nod

You tilted your head and stared at his cold expression.

"Why would you help me?" You asked and a hint of annoyance flashed crossed his face

"Because of you little brother." He said and you glanced at the skinny body who stood on the other side of your bed.

"He was about to charge the men all by himself if I didn't step in," Levi said and your little brother pouted

"Well nobody was going to help, and I didn't want you to die." He said and puffed up his cheeks to stop himself from crying

"I told you to run, you shouldn't have turned back. I would have been fine." You said whipping the tears that had fallen

"You were all beat up!" He quickly said while pointing at your black and blue arm.

"And how would you have stopped them? I might have lived but you would have-" You cut myself off not wanting to finish your sentence

"Go get washed up," You said after a moment of silence and your little brother unwillingly got up and left

You turned toward the black-haired boy, wondering why he was still here.

You stared at his cold expression for a second before he asked

"Why don't you teach him how to fight?"

"He's too young." You quickly responded while you sat up just in case he tried anything

"But if I didn't show up, you would be dead right now." He said and you just glared at him because you didn't know what to say, but knew he was right

"If I died then I die," You say and he shook his head

"If you were to die, then so would he." He said and you sighed at his words

"Why do you have to be right?"

"Because the world is a harsh place, and sometimes you have to get brutally honest." He said

"Fine then what do you think I should do?" You asked feeling guilty was asking advice from someone you bearly knew

"I'll teach you both to fight." He said calmly and you just stared at him with a confused look on your face

"For what in return?" You ask and light smirk flash across his face and quickly disappear

"I get to stay here." He said talking about your very small home

"What why-" You started to ask but he quickly cut you off

"Because I don't have anywhere to go." He said coldly almost like he wanted to end the conversation

"But how can I trust you, we literally just met a few minutes ago," you state and he sighs

"Up until now, you have only acted on instinct and your own strength-" And started then grabbed your wrist "But playing small games like this won't get you anywhere." He said while he lifted your arm up to reveal the knife you hand clenched in your hand.

You narrow my eyes at him while you dropped the knife from your hand, the metal sound bounced on the ground and he slowly let go of my wrist.

You lightly sigh in defeat and looked down at myour bedsheets.

"You know, I just saved your life a few hours ago. You should be thanking me not trying to kill me." He said while he picked up the knife off of the ground and set it on my nightstand next to your bed.

A light tint of pink covered your cheeks "Y-Yea but-" you embearsly try to come up with something but nothing comes to mind.

"I can't believe I actually agreed to him staying." You mumble to yourself while you head outside to see what they are up to.

"Look, Look L/n! Look at what I learned." Your younger brother said excitedly as he held up his fists in a fighting stance

You smile and nod, but a feeling dwells within your heart that makes watching him learn to fight sad, almost like you have let in down in someway

A sudden flick to your forehead brings you from your thoughts, and your eyes quickly meet the steel grey eyes of Levi's.

"What was that for?" You complained as you rubbed your forehead

"You had a weird look on you face." He commented before walking off and into the house.

"L/n, when you get better I want to spare with you!" Your younger brother says excitedly and you smile at his eagerness.

"Maybe in a year or two." You say heading back into the house with your brother quickly behind you.

"What is this?" You hear Levi complain in the kitchen

"What is what?" You ask him while you poke your head around the corner to see him looking in the cabinets.

"Where is all the food?" He asked

"There is none." You simply said while you lend against the doorframe

"So you're the thief that has been stealing food," Levi said while he closed the cabinet that he opened.

"Speaking of which-" You say while start to head towards your bedroom

"You're not going anywhere." You hear Levi say almost reading your mind, while he grabbed your wrist

"But we need food." You complained and he thought for a second

"I'll take care of the food, you just need to clean up here." He said referring to the messy house

"Oh, yea." You mumbled softly and Levi lets go of your wrist and head towards the door

"I'll be back." Was all he said before disappearing out the door.

"Sissy I wanna help." Your brother said and you nodded

"Come on let me trim your hair." You complain while your brother stands on the other side of the table

"Nooooo I like it long." He said while he clinched onto the chair in front of him

"But if you are going to practice fighting, you need to have your hair short." You say

"But Levi's hair is long!" He shot back and you sighed and started to walk towards him

"Come on it will only take a second." You say and he shakes his head while backing away from you.

You started to chase him, but the front door opening caused him to have the perfect defense.

He quickly hid behind Levi, while unable to suddenly stop ran right into him.

You quickly backed away from Levi realizing what just happened.

"I-I'm sorry." You said while you glanced up at him, while he stared down at you

You gave him a small smile and took the bags from his hands before scrambling off into the kitchen.

"What's going on here?" He finally asks and your little brother was the first to say something

"Y/n is trying to make me get a haircut." The little boy complains to Levi, while you quietly put away the food

"Well, we both need one." You hear Levi say and your eyes widened and you look back at the 2 boys

"Both of you?" You repeated and Levi nodded, while your little brother quickly started to try and find a way out of it but before he could move Levi grabbed him.

"Come on, I promise it won't look back." You said while Levi dragged the little boy and sat him in a chair.

"Noooooo" Your little brother cried while you grabbed the clippers from your room.

"Now if you move, it might mess up your hair." You say to your brother and he finally gives in and relaxes

"Fine." He said unwillingly

You smiled while you looked at your masterpiece.

"There I'm done." You said while you brushed off the hair that was around his neck

The little boy scrambled into the bathroom to see what he looked like, and soon returned with a smile on his face

"It looks so good." He said in aw while he played with his short hair

"See, now you look 10 times more handsome." You say with a smile and Levi stands up from where he was sitting

"What you want me to do your hair too?" You asked and he shyly looked down at the ground

"Just this once, then I will learn how to do it on my own." He said embarrassed, and you nodded while you gestured for him to sit down on the chair and in which he sat down.

You start to brush out his hair, trying to be as gentle as you could be while you held the scissors in your mouth.

"Do you want the same hairstyle as my brother?" You asked while you finished brushing his hair and he nodded at your question

You pull the top of his hair into a small ponytail, while you start to cut the underneath. Once you get it short enough you pull on the ponytail holder and let the long hair fall, and once again you brush it all out.

You start to intently focus on keeping the top layer all the same length you didn't realize you made it towards the front but a pair of eyes did.

He watched has you where completely focus and glanced back to realize how close you were.

"Sorry" You apologize while you take a step back from him as your cheeks quickly warmed up, and he looks up at you

"Don't you need to finish?" He simply asked, referring to the side of his hair that still wasn't finished

"Y-yea." You mumble while you tried to shake off the blush and continue cutting his hair.

You soon finish and brush off the hair that was all over, and he stood up and looked at you.

"Well, how do I look?" He simply asks you and you quickly look away and start cleaning up the mess on the floor.

Levi chuckled a bit before heading towards the bathroom to take a shower.

"Someone is in looooove" You hear you brother tease from the doorway of his bedroom

"Aren't you suppose to be asleep?" You ask and you brother grins at you before disappearing into his bedroom

"Why would I be in love with someone I just met?" You mumble to yourself while you clean up the hair

After you finish cleaning up the hair mess you heard steps coming from behind you

"I thought I told you to go to bed." You said while you turned around to see a cold glaze from Levi who just got out of the shower.

You lightly blush realizing who it was, and looked up at him unsure of what to say.

You look at the new haircut that made him look hot-

"Is something wrong?" Levi asks while he squatted down to where you were

"Um- Er- What do you mean is something wrong?" You say at a lose of words

"You had that weird look on your face again." He said and your face quickly started to turn red

"Um, I don't know what you mean." You say and he suddenly gets closer to you

"Are you hurting?" He asks seriously and you quickly move away from him

"Um, Goodnight!" You say while you quickly ran off into your room, leaving Levi alone and clueless

You quickly shut your door and lean you back against it, before placing your hands over your heart

'Someone is in looooove' Your brother's words ring in your mind
