Field Boss!

Leon greeted Myron before pulling a chair over to the counter. Myron was stunned for a second, and he knew it was serious.

"The notice outside the shop shows me the exact monsters I would be fighting, right?" Leon asked with an incredulous expression.

"Yes and no." Myron tapped his chin with a smile and said. He understood that Leon had discovered something.

"Yes and No? What does that suppose to me?" Leon was eyes widened.

"Ah, you tell me. Once you figure it out I can tell you more about it." Myron said mysteriously.

"Okay. I read the list outside about the monster encounters. The encounter papers said I would run into Goblins, Goblin Bashers, and the Goblin Caster."

Leon continued. "However, I ran into something different, it was a friggin Hobgoblin carrying a Rusty Sword."

"Hahaha! It is so!" Myron laughed and nodded, his eyes in the form of crescents.

"Can you explain this? Or are you guys running some scam here?" Leon found this troublesome, would he have to fight two boss-like monsters?

"It isn't something so ridiculous as a scam. The Hobgoblin you saw is something that's supposed to be there. What do you guys call it in those video games? You guys call them roaming, field, and hidden bosses."

Leon's expression changed a bit.

Myron Continued. "Don't worry, you don't have to kill it if you don't want to. Furthermore, there is only one field boss in each area. Honestly, I suggest you defeat them for extra benefits."

"Really?" Leon knew he would get a significant number of points for defeating the Hobgoblin. However, Myron made it seem like he would get an even greater reward for doing so.

"It is so." Myron nodded and said calmly.

"Alright. It will be done." Leon grinned as he thought to himself. The more points the better, there were things he wanted to buy from that merchant.

"Oh, right. Each monster has an inner core, you can use it for exchange later or as a power source for certain things. They can be used for alchemy and weapons as well—if you're into that."

Myron yawned and continued. "Hey, I answered many of your questions, you should as least buy something from here."

"Uh..." Leon was stunned when suddenly a screen appeared in front of him. To be exact, it was a status-like screen that displayed all of the goods being sold in the store.

"What the..." Leon looked at the screen in surprise before looking toward Myron, who was smirking at him.

Leon browsed the store, and indeed, every item being sold was in the F-rank realm. He thought for a moment before deciding to buy a potion for 800 points.

Leon's heart hurt having to spend points, but this potion might come in handy. He quickly stored the potion with a heavy heart.

"Hehe, thanks lad, you're not as cheap as I thought." Myron knew that Leon wasn't the only cheap trialist, as he kept in contact with other trialist merchants such as himself.

"Thank you, I'll be on my way now." Leon forced a smile and left the shop in a hurry.

"Hehe, I wonder if he can complete the trial?" Myron smiled before turning around and heading toward the back.

Meanwhile, Leon left the shop and quickly set off to the jungle to hunt.

"It's a good thing my crow is still keeping tabs on that Hobgoblin. Since I've had no fortune in finding the Caster, I can plot against this Hobgoblin."

Leon suddenly had an idea, but for now, he wanted to power level. This would also allow him to get some form of exercise. His stats would go up naturally without relying on his level being raised for attribute points.

Leon searched through the jungle, pushing away several tall branches before him. Eventually, he summoned a Dirt Golem to assist him.

While the Rock Golem was based on Defense and Vitality, the Dirt Golem's strong point was its Speed and Attack.

It could turn parts of its body into spikes for defense against certain enemies or foes. It could form its hand into a sharp spike meant for impaling targets.

"This guy has a lot of killing potential and it's good for blending into this jungle environment." The Dirt Golem could turn its body into a pool of dirt and ambush unsuspecting individuals.

Though it wasn't as tall as the Rock Golem, it was much deadlier than it. The Dirt Golem stood at 2.8 meters in height.

"My gosh, it has a Kinesis skill that is essential for truly manipulating an Element!"

This was shocking, the importance of such skills was extremely significant to becoming an Arcanist.

"Damn it! I wish I could copy this skill but I can't do that with my summons!" Leon hated this restriction, why couldn't he just copy anything?

But restrictions were restrictions.

Leon sighed but he got over his disappointment quickly and kept it moving. With the Dirt Golem's [Earth Sensory] Innate skill, it was able to find Goblins quickly.

This saved Leon from having to waste Mana from constantly using his skill [Search].

The Golem attacked, it killed enemies fast and before they could even notice. AOE attacks filled the Goblins with holes, killing them on the spot.

"I knew it was a good idea to buy minions who could fight for me. This is no different than being boosted in some lobby by a pro gamer."

Leon could also reap the benefits while doing nothing. Most importantly, he was in a safe position. However, Leon knew this couldn't last forever, so he would have to also acquire skills for his personal growth.

Leon kept using his Dirt Golem and White Knights to kill more Goblins. He would store the bodies away and continue.

Eventually, Leon hit Level Five after constantly sentencing Goblins to death. He even acquired a new title, Goblin Slayer.

-Kill 100 Goblins within a 7-day time period.

[Goblin Slayer: All stats are boosted by 10 when battling against any Goblin or Goblins.]

"Oh, boy, this is a game-breaker and something needed." Leon couldn't help but smile seeing his new title. He reaped the benefits of a title without actually doing it himself.

"So no matter what, the merit of my summons is all mine?" Leon was overjoyed. He would need to come up with a way to get other types of summons in the future.

"Hehe, It's time to make preparations for my Hobgoblin buddy." Leon knew this monster's location.

His crow had always been watching it but his crow had to eat as well. So it would eat a few earthworms and go back to its duty of spying.

"I'm starting to get hungry anyway, I will head back and eat before enacting my plan." Leon pulled out a bottle of water before heading back to the mini village.

Leon has killed many Goblins, so he wanted to go back and eat before heading back out. He was surprisingly raring to fight some more, but not on an empty stomach.

However, Leon was aware of the Hobgoblin now, so he didn't want to take a chance in the wild to camp.

"To kill this Hobgoblin, I need to prepare. I will surely be unable to complete this mission fast enough." Leon sighed to himself.

This meant that he would have to face Goblin Archers, which he deemed as the worst. For his plan to fall through, he needed to wait this long. The Hobgoblin had the [Leadership] skill and it had a small army.

After some time, Leon arrived at the village and went straight to his house. Nonetheless, he was happy with his results for the day.

"I'll just turn them into fish nuggets, it should be enough." Leon washed his hands and quickly began to cut them into bit sized pieces.

"Let's make it simple with some flour, salt, and pepper, this is all I have anyway." Afterward, Leon enjoyed his crunchy yet juicy fish to himself.

Leon happily at to himself but he wished he had a beverage to go with it. He could only drink water, which was best if he wanted to lose weight.

"Phew! The food here is really good. I need to capture that Bass from earlier, it probably tasted the best." Leon suddenly thought that he should probably lay off the fried food as well.

"Hmm, what's going on? It's finally deciding to change?" Leon turned and looked out of the window. He was slightly surprised to see that the sun appeared to be setting.

"Why would it set now? There are too many strange things in this dungeon." Leon stood up and prepared to leave. The sun setting didn't discourage him because he had night vision.

Every day was daytime to Leon now.

Seeing the change coming soon, Leon wondered if his brother was doing alright in these trials. With a deep breath, Leon left his house where his White knight stood outside his door.

Leon wanted to ask Myron questions, but he figured he had already visited him enough today.

"I'll wait until tomorrow to do what I need to do. I need something to reduce the risk of danger to myself."

Leon went to wash up before going to bed. He didn't want to rush things, so it was best to plan everything out.
