A Fail Plan

Marissa was stunned. The help that Blake asked for was ringing in the back of her head. "What did you say?"

"I can't get married to anyone Marissa and since you are my best friend, can't you help me?" He knew this would blow her mind and he knew he was bad. But why would he throw away the chance that he got?

"Wait wait wait…" She stuttered slightly, "I…with you…married?" Her brain was now trying to digest every word that he said. She rubbed her neck suddenly, feeling puzzled. "You are being serious?"

"I am." He confirmed it. "Okay, if you find this is hard to accept just ask me for anything you want in return for getting married to me."

Marissa sneered in disbelief. She didn't know why she felt hurt by his words, "Do you think I befriended you all this time for the sake of getting something from you?"

"No no no…I didn't mean that!" He cursed in his mind.

"I don't know why we ended with this conversation but Blake…I will say no." Marissa took the dress that she chose earlier, pushed him out and closed the curtain. "Don't open it! I want to change." She shouted.

After she finished dressing up, she ran out immediately.

"Wait wait wait…Marissa!" He halted her move and turned her to face him. "I'm sorry just in case you are hurt by my words." He paused, looking at her eyes that obviously looked irritated. "I didn't mean to…but my grandma…she pushed me to the limit and I can't think of anything except this. " Cunning, that was the word that was playing on his head. He himself felt like he was cunning and bad but for the sake of getting Marissa he needed to.

"Let me think…" Marissa brushed his hands from her shoulders and quickly went to the main door.

"Wait, let me send you home." He quickly grabbed his car key that was hanging at the key holder.

"No need, I will just grab a taxi." She said and reached for the door knob.

Shortly glancing at his watch, he instantly said, "At this time? No!"

"Why would you care?" She was definitely pissed with him today. It started from the pizza incident and now the marriage thing.

"Wait…" He closed his eyes for a second, "Why are you so mad?" He didn't get the point why she was so mad.

"I am not mad! Do I look like I am mad?!" She opened the door and was shocked when the door immediately slammed closed the second after. It was because Blake pushed it hard.

He took a breath and cursed in his mind regretting his action. He knew he shouldn't do that. Seeing where this fight was going he was worried it would grow bigger and eventually made her leave him. That was why he unconsciously closed the door hard, they needed to talk.

"I'm sorry…" He looked down on the floor. "I'm sorry so please just forget the thing we talked about earlier." Blake took another deep breath. He was sure he didn't want to lose her so for now let's just do that.

"Okay Blake. I understand, so could you please let me go now?" Marissa didn't intend to prolong the conversation because her body still felt weak and this topic needed to be stopped.

"All right but I will send you home. It is dangerous to go with the taxi at this time." He was really worried and looking at the time, which was almost midnight, he didn't think he could let her go alone.

The whole drive was filled with silence. When they arrived at Marissa's house she just got out of the car and went straight to the elevator. She didn't turn even once and Blake regretted his plan. He hoped she wouldn't grow apart from him and their relationship would continue at least as before.

Blake sped off after he confirmed that she reached her home.

Marissa who stood outside in the hallway of her house could hear Blake's sports car drive away. She took a peek to make sure he was really gone. Sighed, it was not like she was really mad but her head was now messy. There was a lot on her mind that she easily irritated.

"Mom…" She opened the door and saw the light was off. Micky must be still at work at this time, he probably would be back at one in the morning. "Mom…" She called again.

Switching on the light, she was shocked seeing the messy living room. Panicking, thinking the house was robbed, she ran to the room. "Mom…!" She tried to search for her but couldn't see Wanda any where. Only the messy room was visible to her eyes. 'What happened?'

Marissa was stiff for the whole second before she decided to check her room.

It was locked! The door was locked! She remembered living it as it was before going out to meet Henry.

"Mom…are you in there? It is me…Icha…" She believed Wanda was in the room and tried to persuade her to open the door. "Mom…" She called again after half a minute.

Creak…

The sound of the door being opened made Marissa relieved. But Wanda was not visible, so she peeked behind the door and was once again surprised. Wanda's whole face was swollen. She was beaten!

"Mom! What happened?!" Her fingers were shaking trying to hold onto Wanda's face. "Who…did this…?" Marissa's voice was stuttering.

"Icha…" Wanda's voice was weak. She was hiding in the room when Henry beat her up earlier. He suddenly rushed back home and beat her while cursing. "Did you make your dad angry?"

"He did this?!" Her voice arose alongside her anger. Swiftly turned to walk out of the room, Wanda stopped her.

"No, please…" Wanda pleaded with her not to. "I will agree to your suggestion…" She paused and held Marissa's hand tight, "I will file a divorce."

Marissa's eyes started welling. Finally, the twenty seven years of suffering would end. She pulled Wanda and gently hugged her. "Thank you mom and don't worry everything will get better from now on." She rubbed Wanda's back.

Noticing Wanda resting her head on her shoulder, she called for her, "Mom…let's go to the hospital first and check your wound."

Silence. Wanda didn't answer but then her body slowly drooped down. Thanks to Marissa's quick action, she managed to grab her from falling right on the floor.

"Mom!"
