chapter Twenty-Five

The Dinner was one of laughter and fun, and in as much as Layla decided not to speak about it, she didn’t miss the undercurrent sparks between Dinah and Edward.

Maybe later, when Dinah was completely healed of what Alejandro had done. Or sooner, if Edward was meant to be part of her healing journey. She didn’t know, wasn’t completely sure.

“Thank you for dinner, Dinah. It was wonderful.” Layla said as she made it for the door, Dante at her heels.

“It really was,” Edward said, following her and Layla turned to him in confusion,

Are you not staying then? She wanted to ask but held back.

“I’m glad you both enjoyed it. Hopefully, we can do this more often. You both have a good evening.”

She turned to Edward and smiled brightly, and he nodded,

“You too, Dinah of the west.”

“Leaving without a goodbye kiss?” Alex asked from behind her, and she shook her head, smiling.

“How could I?” He pulled her in for a kiss and when she pulled away, she laid a hand on his chest,
