Chapter 10

"My wife is dead, Emely," Leo said suddenly.

Emely, who had been silent for a long time, finally turned her head to look at Leo, who had a sad face. The man immediately looked down. Seeing Emily's face made her weak. He wanted that girl.

Emely looked back straight at the already dark yard. Only the lights at the gate were dim, making the surroundings slightly lit up. Surprised, Emely didn't expect Leo to be that honest.

"I'm sorry, Leo. But, why are you telling me all this?" Emely asked making Leo look at the girl even more sadly.

He wanted Emely to know that Leo had special feelings that had been hidden for a long time and he only realized recently. The man wanted Emely to reciprocate his feelings, then Leo could step up to justify Emely. However, the question of the girl of his dreams made Leo ashamed of himself.

"I know, you must have not accepted William's proposal, right?" Leo's question brought Emely back to her senses.

The face that was originally gloomy now looks bright with a smile of happiness. Leo loves not playing. His attempt to get close to Emely was almost final. However ....

Leo looked sad again. His mind was suddenly assailed with many questions.

"Why? Are you hurt by my past treatment? Or... do you love each other?"

Emily immediately shook her head at the question. Love? It was a far cry from the fire if William could love her. His intentions alone had gone wrong with Emely.

"No, Leo. Not because of all that. It's just ... there is one problem that I can't mention. I can't even decide. But, it's unlikely that I have to refuse it," said Emely. He couldn't be honest, he could go to the court considering Leo was a cop.

Leo's expression turned serious now. The man seemed ready to interrogate Emely.

"Emely, tell me what's the matter? Don't be afraid, I'm a law enforcement officer. Everything will be fine." Leo looked at Emely earnestly.

Emily didn't answer right away. He even swallowed saliva with trepidation that filled his heart.

Riana suddenly appeared from inside the house, startling Leo who had just arrived. The police ignored his ex-sister-in-law. He chose to walk up the stairs to his room.

"Leo! I know you met that woman again, huh!" Riana exclaimed, immediately stopping Leo's steps.

The man turned around with an unfriendly face. After a while, he was fed up with Riana's behavior, who kept interfering with his problems.

"You're following me again?!" Leo asked, annoyed.

The woman smiled crookedly as she crossed her arms in front of her chest.

"Not me, but my men!" Riana exclaimed, without feeling guilty.

Leo growled. He forgot that Riana was the youngest child of the former police chief. It was easy for the woman to know his movements. However, this is too much. Riana cannot continue to interfere in her matters.

Leo took a deep breath, trying to control the emotions that were starting to take over.

"Listen, Ri. I told you, to stop your silly behavior. I also need a companion, Ben needs a mother figure," Leo explained, trying to make Riana understand again.

However, Riana's stubborn character makes Leo difficult and overwhelming. The girl remained adamantly disapproving of Leo's remarriage. The reason is always the same, about Marsya and loyalty.

"You're crazy, Ri! You demanded that I be a widower for life for loyal reasons. Marsya has died, me and my son must continue living, Ri!"

Leo gets more frustrated when dealing with Riana. That's always the reason. The man believed that there was another reason that made Riana keep telling him to be a widower.

"Honestly, Ri. Why are you like this? What do you want from me?" Leo asked at last.

Riana's face, which was initially tense and red, suddenly changed with a softening look. But it all made Leo suspicious.

"Okay. I'm tired of being like this too. Listen, Leo. I want you to marry me."

"What?!" Leo was immediately shocked, while Riana smiled crookedly.

Early in the morning, William's black car was parked in the yard of Emily's house. The girl was reluctant to meet. However, the insistence of his father and mother kept him from moving.

With a limp Emely approached William who was standing with his body propped against the car door. The man greeted Emely with a chuckle.

"Behave, as usual, Emely. Or I owe your parents a debt," William said making Emely gasp.

The girl immediately straightened her back and acted as normal as possible, even though she had to. However, William's threat inflamed him.

"Come in. I'll take you. Clara is waiting inside," William said, pointing to the back seat.

Emely turned to the back of the car and poked the little girl's head with her sweet smile.

"Morning, Mrs. Emely. Let's go together!" asked Clara, enthusiastically.

A genuine smile slipped from the girl's lips. For a moment, William was silent. He was amazed to see Emily's beauty when he smiled. It was only when Clara called out that William came to his senses.

"Father, let's go!

William immediately cleared his throat and nodded. He told Emely to get into the passenger seat beside him. And the journey began.

During the trip, Emely was saved from the awkward atmosphere because of Clara's presence. The little girl kept asking questions and talking to Emely.

Meanwhile, William just listened quietly. Although occasionally want to laugh at his son's question, the man chose to remain silent and maintain his authority.

Did not feel the car had arrived in front of the school. However, when Emely came down, suddenly a woman approached her and without warning landed a slap on the girl's cheek.

William gasped while Emely just stood still while holding his cheek. Who is she?
