02; The Lake

Valerie stood up and got back beside Brina as they stared down at the young man. "Judging from his armor, I think he is a Knight" she told Brina.

" A Knight?" Brina suddenly asked.

"Yeah, why?" Valerie asked suspiciously rasing an eyebrow.

"We could save him and in return, he gives us riches and golds" Brina said as her eyes shined at the thought of gold.

Valerie raised an eyebrow even higher if possible. "Since when did you start liking matieral things?" She asked.

" Since now." She relied " He is a Nobel from the main kingdom. Come on" she added as she got down to carry the man and when she realized that she couldn't, she turned back to Valerie with a innocent look while, Valerie was staring at her like she had suddenly grown a double head on her shoulders.

Brina smiled widely. "Relax Val, Even if I don't want to be a healer, I always remember what Grandma Ola reaches us." She said " I am only trying to save the young fellow's life. Please help me" she added with an innocent look.

Valerie shook her head, she knew better but she couldn't help but wonder the sudden oppossion with gold. Knowing Brina, she would do anything to get what she wanted.

"Where are we going to take him?" Valerie asked with a sigh.

"I know a little lake not far from here" Brina answered.

"But who is going to carry him?" Valerie asked innocently and Brina frowned.

This was not going end well.... Brina thought

(A few minutes later)

"Ah!" Brina groaned as she dropped the man from her back to the ground "He is so heavy" she complained as she panted for breath.

Valerie shook her head. " Never refer to a living man heavy, only the dead is heavy" She scolded and Brina rolled her eyes.

Valerie looked around, they had arrived at the lake that was surrounded by mountain and the sound of pouring water was heard.

Valerie dropped the basket she was carrying on her shoulder and turned to look at Brina, who was adjusting the man beside a rock that was close to the waters.

Valerie went down and placed two fingers on his neck to check for his pluse.  "It getting weaker" she announced to Brina.

"You do whatever it is that you do, I am going to go pick some woods" Brina told her and ran back to the direction that they had came from.

Valerie watched as Brina ran back to the way they had come from. She turned back to the man and slowly unblucked his armor and lift it over his head and set it aside. He was now only wearing a long sleeves Shirt and his pants, she began to work taking off his shirt and she couldn't help but take in his features.

He had really long black hair that was tied up, she couldn't see the color of his eyes and she couldn't help but wonder what was the color but, she also noticed his muscles as she discharged his shirt and she couldn't help but stared at the sight.

She came back to reality as she turned to the basket on the ground, took a little towel and moved her hand to the waters and soaked the clothe and went back to cleaning his face that had mud and a bit of blood on it. Then, she looked down and saw a stabbed wound at his side with a huge tattoo on his back.

It was a phoenix bird raising from it's ashes. It was a very beautiful sight but she shooked her head and went back to what she was doing.

She sighed as she saw the bad shape he was in.

By the time Brina came back, Valerie had already finished weeping the blood and mud on his body and his wound to stop infection.

"I have given him something but I need bandage for his wounds" Valerie told Brina as she sat beisde on the ground as she started a fire that soon started catching.

"We need to get back. It's getting late" Brina said to Brina.

Valerie nodded her head " Grandma Ola might worry. We will come back tomorrow"

They nodded their head's and stood up on their feet. Valerie looked back at the man who was now clean and sleeping soundly.

"He should be fine" Brina picked up the basket and they walked away, heading straight back to their little village.

By the time they got back to the village, it was already dark but the village was bright due to the touches.

They walked passed small houses and made their way towards their home and when they got there, Valerie opened the door and they went inside to reveal a living room made of wood and it had a round wooden table in the middle and six chairs around it and beside the conor was a fire place for a cold winter and the room was bright due to the fire touches suck on the walls.

The two maiden went over the seats and sat down. Brina dropped the basket beside her and they looked around the quite house.

"Where is everyone. I am so tired and hungry" Brina whined while Valerie rolled her eyes.

But then the door opened, walked in two maiden. One had dark skin, black hair and blue eyes while the other one was a fair skin with blonde hair and brown eyes, they were all wearing the same dress like Brina and Valerie.

"Brina and Valerie" the dark one started as she stared at the two with hate. "You are supposed to be here hours ago" she added.

Brina stood up sharply. " Who gave you the right to question us. Watch your mouth bibo and I will shut it up for you"

Valerie shook her head as she watched the scene in front of her. Brina had never gotten along with the other girls that lived with Grandma Ola, they were always complaining to the old woman on how Brina didn't do anything or helped out which got Brina into trouble all the time. So, she always fought with them at any given opportunity.

"What is going in here" they heard a voice asked. They all turned to find an elderly woman in her late 50s with brown hair that had grey hair at the front and it was tied in a low dun and brown eyes that had lost their spark.

Valerie stood up as they all bowed their head to the woman in greetings.

The old woman stared at them suspiciously "Why are you girls yelling at each other again?" She asked.

" Nothing grandma" Brina relied while looking down, it had always ended with her being scolded.

"It wasn't nothing grandma" the dark one started with confidence. " They came back late and we were just asking them when Brina called me a bibo again" she glared at Brina.

Grandma Ola turned to the two maidens "why did you come just now, I was starting to worry" she said to them.

Valerie cleared her throat. " Grandma, we are sorry but the herbs were difficult to find this time around. We walked deep into the Forrest and by the time we got back it was late. We are sorry we made you worry. It will not happen again" she lied a bit, something she hated.

The woman smiled " Of course, I trust you Valerie"

"Thank you Grandma" Valerie smiled widely.

Valerie was the pride and joy of the woman, she loved the young maiden so much that the others became jealous and even tried to rid of her.

"You must be hungry" She asked them and the girls nodded. She sighed. "Vtara and Asena, get them something to eat" she said and walked out of the room after smiling at Valerie.

The girls now known as Vtara and Asena glared at them before doing as they were told.

"Guess that's over" Valerie sighed and sat back down.

"Yeah" Brina stated as she also sat down. "Thanks for saving me for being scolded.

" Watch your mouth next time bibo" Valerie scolded and they both laughed.

" Where do you think he is from?" Valerie asked seriously.

Brina rolled her eyes " From the main kingdom, where else?"

"We don't know that, he could be from the other kingdoms!"

"Don't worry, when he wakes up, we can slap it out of him " Brina smirked.

" You will do no such thing. I forbid you!"

Brina shook her head " Of course your highness, your wish is my command" she mocked her.
