Chapter 1

WillowFlight could hear paw steps approaching her as she was eating her fresh-kill. "Hey WillowFlight!" Said BoulderKit excitedly. "Hello BoulderKit." WillowFlight says in a calm voice. "How are you?" "I'm great!" BoulderKit says with a small jump. "That's good to hear. You know, your becoming an apprentice soon, do you think you'll get to go to the gathering?" Asks WillowFlight. "I hope so!" Exclaims BoulderPaw. Just as she finishes SageStar hops onto the HighRock. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather under the HighRock for a clan meeting!" Shouts SageStar. All of the ThunderClan cats gather. "Today we have a new apprentice! BoulderKit, from now until you've received your warrior name you will be known as, BoulderPaw! My deputy, WillowFlight, will be your mentor." Said SageStar. The cats started chanting "BoulderPaw! BoulderPaw!" "Clan dismissed!" Said SageStar leaping down from the HighRock. "WillowFlight?" SageStar asks as she approaches the two of them. "Yes SageStar?" WillowFlight turns. "WiltClaw never returned from his patrol earlier. Could you take BoulderPaw and HeatherMoon to go look for him?" SageStar said with worry. "Oh, yes, of course." WillowFlight dips her head. SageStar nods and walks away. "Come along BoulderPaw, we must find HeatherMoon." WillowFlight turns towards her. "Ok!" Says BoulderPaw. "HeatherMoon, SageStar has requested that I take you and BoulderPaw with me to explore the borders." Says WillowFlight nudging HeatherMoon awake. "Fine." says HeatherMoon with a grudge. The three of them exit camp and follow WiltClaw's sent trail. WillowFlight pauses. "BoulderPaw, why don't you try and track him?" "Ok!" BoulderPaw is a natural at tracking, and follows his sent trail swiftly. She darts between bushes and gets ahead of WillowFlight and HeatherMoon. After a moment WillowFlight can't hear BoulderPaw running anymore. Her and HeatherMoon start chasing after her. When they reach her they find WiltClaw's horribly wounded corpse. Next to him is a fox, who has been disfigured by WiltClaw. BoulderPaw starts freaking out. "W-What do we do?!?!" She shouts timidly. "It's ok. Calm down BoulderPaw. We need to take him back to camp." Says WillowFlight trying to stay calm. She picks up WiltClaw and they head back to camp. As they enter everyone gasps. "WiltClaw…?" BlazeLeaf wanted to say more but he was in too much shock. SageStar approaches them. "What happened?" "Well, from the looks of it WiltClaw killed a fox but was too badly injured afterwards." Says WillowFlight sadly. "Alright." SageStar hops upon the Highrock. "WiltClaw was a brave warrior, He will be missed." All of the cats dip their heads in respect for the fallen warrior. SageStar jumps down from the Highrock. All of the cats gather to mourn the loss of WiltClaw. HeatherMoon steps away. WillowFlight notices her leaving and decides to follow. She doesn't want to be around the mourning cats. HeatherMoon leaves camp and lays down under a tree. As WillowFlight approaches HeatherMoon looks up to her, expressionless. "HeatherMoon…" "WillowFlight." "HeatherMoon, are you ok…?" WillowFlight asks concerningly. "Yes, I'm fine." HeatherMoon says as she rests her head. "Why did you follow me?" "I just wanted to make sure you were ok." "I told you, I'm fine. Now leave me alone." HeatherMoon snarls. WillowFlight sighs and walks back into camp. She goes into the warriors den to rest.
