Chapter 20) First lessons 2

[Another chapter , I wanted to release 1 chapter each today and yesterday, but it didn't work out yesterday. So today is another chapter. I wanted to write something here a little bit and answer questions , but there is nothing interesting, so we drove to the chapter]

Prof.McGonagall - "I see Mr. Potter and Mr. Weasley can't come on time even for the 2nd lesson. -10 points Gryffindor. Take your seats and don't be late next time."

The two boys sat down at the end of the class and the lesson finally began.

Prof.McGonagall - "I will be your professor until the end of your studies, so behave yourself and we will have no problems with you. My subject is called Transfiguration and it is a complex and rigorous science. Transfiguration is usually divided into 2 directions, namely imagination and strict calculations. Of course, even though I say that there are 2 directions, in fact, both calculations and imagination are used in Transfiguration. In what proportions depends on the preference of the wizard and his level in this magic. For example, I use 30 percent imagination and 70 calculations. But another well-known teacher on this subject, on the contrary, uses 70 percent of imagination and 30 calculations."

I listened to the professor's explanations in silence and I can say that she explained the essence of her subject quite easily and accurately. If you delve into this topic, then this magic depends on the understanding of the subject that you want to receive, on your magical energy and your ability to control it. It also depends on your imagination and ability to visualize exactly what you want. There are still a lot of little things that can affect your result, but it will be hard for 11-year-olds to understand.

The most important thing is that although it seems that this magic does not comply with the law of equivalent exchange, but in fact it is not. For example, temporary transfiguration turns an item into what you want and the duration depends on the amount of magical energy you use and its quality, and after a while the item will return to its original state when the magical energy ends in the item that you have invested.

But for permanent transfiguration, there are two options, the first is to add a property through which the item itself will be fueled by magical energy from the world and after a while it can become this item without fueling magical energy from the world forever.

The second way is to transform this item at the atomic level. When the magical energy is transformed and will complement the bulk of the object and even change its material to the one you want. The second method can theoretically create things out of nothing , but the premise of this is if you have enough magical energy and what quality and density it is. Of course, you don't have to know the subject at the atomic level to use the second method, but then the cost of magical energy increases exponentially.

In a nutshell, magical energy is used to make the law of equivalent exchange work. And it's all pretty unprofitable. That is , if you want to turn a match into a needle , it 's pretty easy . Magical energy just needs to change the material of the match and its shape. It costs almost nothing. Especially if it's temporary. But if you already want to turn a match into, say, a gun, then the problem is in the cost. If you use the second method again, then the magical energy must be transformed for the material of which the gun consists. Also, if you do not know the exact atomic structure, then magical energy must be created from your imagination so that it works and falls under all the laws of physics. In short , it is very expensive and in general it is better not to create items forever and transfiguration itself is very difficult .

While I was thinking about all this , the second lesson is over . There are 2 more Snape lessons left and the second part of the day is free for me.

Daphne-"This lesson was quite interesting, especially compared to the history of magic."

I-"That's because these are just the first lessons. The further we go, the more difficult it will be. "

Daphne-"I know, we studied it at home. Although we studied the program only up to 3 years and then only the basics. But that doesn't make this subject any less interesting."

I-"The main thing is that you should be happy"

While we were walking and talking about the first two lessons, we went down to the room that is located underground and entered the potions class.

When everyone had taken their seats , Snape appeared on the podium . He knows exactly how to catch up with the horror. Appeared in the dark smoke and at the same time released some of his magical energy. And honestly , she 's pretty special . It's still dark because of how much he's studied the dark arts, but it's light dark and again pretty clean. I can assume that although he studied the dark arts, he knows how well to protect himself from them and keep himself sane. This can be seen by his magical energy, it is calm and smooth.

Prof.Snape- "I will be your professor on this subject and you should all know that potions are their own magic and you should strictly study all the rules and principles. I'm also strict about idlers and idiots who think I can't see what they're doing. It concerns you Mr. Weasley"

He looked sternly at the desk where Ron and Harry were sitting and sent magical energy there to intimidate. I can guess that he subtly sprayed magical energy around the classroom to observe who was doing what. Quite an elegant trick, but it requires strict control and a lot of mental strength. Not every wizard can support, for a long time.

He also asked Harry a question as in the canon, but unlike the canon, he only took points from Gryffindor once and that's it. So he taught the basic principles of potion preparation, communication of the danger of negligence and irresponsibility of some magicians who eventually died while preparing the potion. He is a good teacher , apart from the fact that he sometimes sends waves of his magical energy to maintain the attention of all students and not let everyone relax.

That's how the first day of our lessons ended. I hope that the quality of teaching the other subjects will be at the same level.
