Chapter 5 - World Transfer Package

By analyzing different lines of my status screen, I learned that "allegiance" would allow me to join certain races or factions. This would usually take place if I accepted citizenship somewhere or if I agreed to take a side in combat between nations. I had no intention of locking myself down anywhere any time soon. I wanted to learn much more about this world before doing that! What's the point of being of being a "World Traveler" in a new world if I don't travel and explore! I had new eyes that needed to see absolutely everything.

Occupation was quite self-explanatory. I would see that fill up if I took a job or career. When I examined Vision Master, it revealed that an increase in experience would unlock more perks. Perks generally would grant skills but may also influence stats and titles as well. A person would gain experience from combat, crafting, and training. I would have to experiment with that one later!

When I reached the "World Transfer Package", I was pleasantly surprised.

I confirmed "yes" with my mind. Changes quickly overcame my body.

Title Awarded: Mind Defender

Although the reveal of further upgrades came as a surprise, the stats and skills awarded were sort of predictable. These were clearly transferred from my life on Earth. Although I had a regular physical routine, strength was my weakest point. Blind people do not go for a run or play most physical sports. I had the custom of doing pushups and sit-ups in the morning and that was about it. I had never even jogged in my life. My mind was spinning with the ideas of some of the simple things I wanted to do. Running! Exploring! Meeting new people! Although I was far from being a social butterfly, I enjoyed social interaction. I had learned much from auditory clues. I could usually gauge a person's interest in the conversation from the tone and delivery of someone's voice, tapping of their shoe or finger, and the proximity of the speaker. This seems to have translated into both emotional intelligence and social intuition. My lack of vision over the years had also increased my sound sensitivity and smell acuity. Perhaps that is what also improved my tracking skill. I assumed that Fast Learning must be a gift from the world transfer. I did not recall being a spectacular learner in my youth.

By now, I had been examining my status for over 30 minutes. Although I had no way to actually check the time. Was time the same in Vando? 24 hours a day? I would have to slowly unravel this mystery. Finally examining the desk I was sitting at, I noticed a new object that had appeared. A hard-covered book with the title, "The Basics of Vando".

"Well that's convenient", I thought, as I grabbed the book and stood up. I was not going to start reading anything yet. I needed to walk around and explore! Testing my new and longer legs I approached the wooden door of this small little shack. What would I find outside?
