Faceless Wonder

The skeleton realized that to increase its cultivation, it would a lot of corpse qi. It now had twelve units of corpse Qi just like before but this time,it could not upgrade the unknown technique with this quantity of qi.

The skeleton now had a decision to make It could either upgrade the Life Sense skill or the Decomposition skill. It felt that the Qi would not be enough to upgrade both of them. The Life Sense skill enabled it to detect living beings in its surroundings, With this skill, it could even gauge the cultivation of its prey. This skill had been very useful in avoiding humans when the need arose.

On the other hand, the Decomposition skill allowed the skeleton to quickly turn its prey into corpse qi.

The skeleton did not panic. It first put this decision aside and began reading through the books it had obtained from its plunder. It went through the books one by one.

Most of them were about useless things such as the geography of the sky continent and the current political situation. Others told stories about the adventures of 'heroes'.

There were even some cooking books. It had taken these from the restaurant. The books contained recipes and information about some rare ingredients.

The skeleton did not find any information boring. To it, all information had the same value. It read all the books with its red eye glowing brighter as though in excitement. The young girl looked at the skeleton with fear in her eyes. Not fear of its appearance or the fact that it had killed her parents. It was fear of how much this skeleton craved knowledge.

The skeleton read one book after another. It had stolen fifty-six books but to it, these felt too few. In about ten minutes, the skeleton could read and understand the information in a thick book of hundreds of pages.

The skeleton had a perfect memory. It could remember each detail of the book including the page numbers on which each piece of information was printed. The skeleton did not just remember this information. It perfectly understood it and the intent behind each word. It assimilated this information and made it a part of itself. After about ten hours, the skeleton reached the last book.

This book was thin with only two papers. It did not have any writing on the cover. The leather that bound it together was old and weather-beaten.

The skeleton was engrossed in this book. It had the perfect solution to its biggest problem.

This book held a cultivation skill. The skill was called Faceless Wonder. This skill could be used to change one's appearance. The skill had two levels and once mastered, not even a Qi Gathering cultivator could see through the disguise.

The skeleton needed this skill more than anything else right now. It had long ago realized that its appearance was too disturbing for the humans. The moment they laid eyes on it, they did not even think whether the skeleton was an enemy or a friend. They immediately tried to kill it as fast as possible. Those who were too weak screamed out for help in killing the skeleton.

In all the books it had read human population was always the highest meaning that with its appearance, it was bound to be discovered and 'killed'. The only way to prevent this would be to hide deep within some desolate mountains and slowly accumulate corpse qi from the few humans stupid enough to enter its territory that would eventually be classified as some forbidden ground. The black skeleton was not willing to take this route even though it was the safest option.

The option it wanted was to live among its food. This way, it could grow its power much faster, It also had a craving for knowledge. It would never give up the opportunity to stay with the humans who seemed to have the most information.

The only way it could go with its preferred method was to find a way to look like the humans. This new skill was a godsend. As it read through the skill(Faceless Wonder), the skeleton began thinking that perhaps the heavens were actually on its side. In the books it had read, the heavens abhorred creatures of the dark such as it but with this good luck it had, it began questioning this notion.

The skeleton immediately began comprehending the skill.

The skill was made for humans but it believed that with the help of the battle axe, it would be possible. It spent the entire day in comprehension. The skeleton had a great mind and its comprehension capabilities were beyond human understanding.

It did not have a brain but its brain power was something of a marvel.

When night claimed the light, the skeleton finally put down the small book.

It believed that it had comprehended every part of the skill.

It picked up its axe from the table and looked at the information displayed.

When the black skeleton saw the Faceless Wonder added to the skills it could cultivate, it felt a fire light up in its mind.

It immediately decided to upgrade the Faceless Skill.

The battle axe released a crimson light that engulfed the skeleton. It felt its dark qi and corpse qi, circulate through its body after just a second, the crimson light disappeared and its qi stopped circulating through its bones .

It looked at the axe once again.
