Chapter 2 - Introduction

"My name is Zarian," the new English teacher said, standing tall before the class. "And I'm here to teach you about the beauty of the English language."

He swept his gaze over the row of students, his face expressionless but his mind whirling with thoughts. These were the future leaders of Japan, the best and brightest that the country had to offer. And yet, to Zarian's eye, they were nothing but a bunch of spoiled brats.

"I know some of you may be skeptical about the importance of learning English," Zarian continued, his voice calm and steady. "But let me assure you, it's a skill that will be invaluable for the rest of your life. It's a language that's spoken in almost every country in the world, and it's the key to unlocking countless opportunities."

Sona raised her hand, and Zarian nodded in her direction.

"Yes, Sona? What is it?"

"What qualifications do you have to teach us English?" she asked, her voice cool and measured. "I've heard that you're a new arrival in Japan, and I'm just curious about your background."

Zarian smiled broadly, glad for the opportunity to show off his credentials.

"I have a PhD in English literature, and I've taught the subject at some of the most prestigious universities in the world," he replied, his words ringing with authority. "I'm certain that I have the skills and knowledge necessary to teach you everything you need to know."

He glanced at Sona, and saw the slightest hint of a smile on her lips. Was it possible that he was starting to win her over?

But Zarian knew that he couldn't be so easily fooled. He had a mission to fulfill, and he would stop at nothing to see it through. And if that meant playing the part of a humble teacher, then so be it.
