Chapter 9

He stared at his phone screen as the last few seconds of the video of him talking about Vicchan faded away. The last thing Yuuri had said on the tape was "I love you Vicchan", and after that Victor hadn't been able to think straight for the longest time. He had watched the recording countless times after the final words had left Yuuri's mouth and he was still unable to think of any kind of excuse to say to him.

So here he was, standing in front of his house.

It had taken him ages to compose the words in his head, but he was glad he did because if he couldn't even speak then what did the point of coming here at all? He just wanted to forget about what he had seen. It didn't matter if Yuuri saw him watching it…

Victor shook his head and tried to push all those thoughts away before making his way over to the doorstep.

He raised his fist hesitantly towards the doorbell as he waited for someone to answer. He was scared that this whole thing would end with his family yelling at him and telling him never to bother them again.

He wasn't disappointed, when eventually he heard a familiar voice say his name.

"Oh Victor…" Yuuri smiled weakly at him through the glass. He was wearing jeans and a plain white tshirt. "What brings you by? Do you need anything?" He asked curiously. When Victor didn't respond right away Yuuri added "Is there something wrong?"

"Yeah, actually... Can I come in?" Victor said timidly. Yuuri hesitated for a second before nodding and letting Victor enter.

Yuuri followed closely behind Victor and lead him towards the kitchen as he explained. "What is it? Is everything alright? I'm assuming you came by to give me something." He said, sounding worried.

Victor nodded as he took a seat at the dining table and motioned for Yuuri to take a seat across from him. He looked at Victor for a few moments trying to gauge his facial expressions to figure out what he was going to say next.

"Actually..." Victor glanced down at the floor, "...It's kind of important that I talked to you about something."

Yuuri sighed nervously and leaned forward slightly to listen to what Victor had to say before he could even say anything. "Did you have a change of heart after what you told me yesterday morning? You seemed pretty serious before I left the house."

"Yes and no. Well it's more complicated than that. Actually I… We need your help," Victor replied awkwardly.

Yuuri furrowed his brows, clearly confused at Victor's request. "My help? With what?"

"Look I'll start by telling you that I'm sorry, okay? For leaving without saying anything to you. I was really worried about you, and I guess I kind of freaked you out. I shouldn't have done that... I know I shouldn't. And even though I don't blame you for hating me... What I'm trying to say is-"

"Hold on," Yuuri interrupted Victor. He knew he shouldn't interrupt him, but he didn't want to sit there and listen to him apologizing.

Victor looked down at his lap as Yuuri spoke. He couldn't believe he was the reason Yuuri had gotten angry with him so many times.

"If you don't feel comfortable explaining yourself right away, then please go ahead. I won't be upset," Yuuri insisted.

"You can't possibly understand how worried I was, Yuuri."

"I can't. Because I was a little kid when my parents broke up. You weren't there for me." Yuuri shot back, surprising himself and Victor.

"But I thought that you didn't want us to see each other. I've known you since childhood and you never mentioned a single friend of yours before. So I just assumed... I'm so sorry if I was wrong." Victor looked at his feet. He knew that he messed up royally.

"And I was wrong too. It isn't like you to just show up at our home. Especially at such ungodly hours." Yuuri continued to scold Victor for not telling him beforehand.

"I know... And I don't deserve any of your forgiveness." Victor mumbled sadly. He could practically feel himself getting emotional and decided that it would be best for him to go, before he ended up breaking down in tears in front of Yuuri.

"Victor wait..." Before Yuuri could finish his sentence Victor was already halfway out of his chair to dash out the door when he felt a pair of hands wrap tightly around his wrist and yanked him backwards causing him to fall into the arms of his older brother who was sitting beside him.

His brother released his grip once he realized that Victor was okay as they fell onto the ground. He looked up and noticed Victor staring at him wide eyed.

"Phichit! Help me!" Yuuri yelled out, as he scrambled off of his brother to get out of the way.

Phichit chuckled and rolled his eyes, "Calm down, I'm not helping you Victor." He grinned before reaching out a hand and pulling Victor up on to his feet. "Sorry about that, but I had an idea I wanted to test out."
