Chapter 8

Yuuri yawned quietly as he stretched his arms out above his head. As he moved his hands down he noticed his watch sitting on the bedside table next to him. It was currently 4 o'clock in the afternoon and he still hadn't heard back from Victor. Usually he wouldn't worry about it because they weren't exactly best friends, but Victor had promised to write him after all. It wasn't unusual for Victor to forget something, or to be busy somewhere else at the moment. Still, Yuuri couldn't help but wonder where Victor was.

He groaned as he rubbed his tired eyes and pushed himself into a seated position, wondering if he should try calling Victor again. Just before he was about to press call though he heard the sound of shuffling coming from the direction of his bedroom door.

He instantly stood up from his spot on the edge of the bed and headed towards the door. As he reached out to open it a voice stopped him.

"Wait, don't open the door yet!" Yuuri recognised the voice immediately and turned around to stare at his father who was holding a piece of paper with Victor's name written on it.

Yuuri raised his eyebrows in confusion. "Why are you keeping my father company?" He questioned suspiciously. He honestly couldn't understand why they needed Victor' s advice, especially considering his family had made themselves clear to him that they didn't want to see him. They never cared for him.

"Oh no reason. I figured I'd ask your dad if he could accompany you and your mother in finding Victor."

"Oh…" Yuuri didn't know what to say to that. He had hoped that Victor wouldn't be present when they arrived. However he didn't think that would be the case, and he didn't really mind anyway. Not after the conversation he had had with his parents earlier, although he had a bad feeling about this whole situation, he didn't think he would be able to stay completely calm with the possibility of meeting Victor again.

"Just wait for a minute." Yuuri muttered and turned back around, heading back into his bedroom and opening the closet. After rummaging inside for a few minutes, he pulled out a suitcase and then opened it to reveal several pairs of slacks, shirts, jackets, hoodies, socks and shoes that were all neatly packed inside. His heart suddenly started racing at the sight of them. All those years of being separated and trying not to panic had led him to realize how much he missed Victor while he was gone. He didn't think he would be able to stand being alone again, not now that he finally had Victor back. And the worst part was that he didn't know whether they could ever become friends, or if maybe they would just be acquaintances now. After thinking hard about it for a minute he closed the suitcase and shoved it back into the closet before closing the door again before making his way back out to his parents again. "Dad, could I have one more chance to talk to him before we leave?"

"Huh? Why do you need to meet up with him? Are you afraid you're gonna hurt his feelings if he doesn't agree to let you see him?"

Yuuri frowned and shook his head lightly. "No I don't think it will work out… Besides he knows I already forgive him. But I just wanna see if he's okay." He admitted shyly. If he was honest with himself, he didn't know why he was so eager to hear from Victor. He just hoped that after hearing Victor's side of everything, maybe they could be friends once again, despite knowing they would be strangers again.

Yuuri's father paused for a moment before nodding his head and saying goodbye to him and his mother before leaving and going downstairs with his luggage behind him. Once the front door was shut Yuuri hurriedly ran upstairs to grab his suitcase and coat and hurried out the house before his father could come back.
