Chapter 5

"Dude what happened? Is your mom and dad okay?" asked Brent.

"No dude. They're getting a divorce." I said while sighing.

I don't want this to happen but I know this was the best thing to do. They will just continue hurting each other if they remain in the same room. They both deserve to live the life they want. If dad is no longer happy with us, me and mom need to accept that. She can't just insist on making dad stay if he doesn't want to.

"Well that's a big problem bro. I mean we all know how your mom loves Uncle Mat, that she keeps forgiving him even though your dad is an asshole like you always said." said Inigo while tapping her pen on his table.

"It isn't easy for me though to ask my dad to give him and mom a divorce. But I'm so sick seeing mom like this. Until when will she allow herself to get hurt by continuously accepting dad as if he's going to change?" I said feeling mad about the fact that my mom doesn't deserve all the pain she has right now.

We were just talking about my mom and dad when our prof came. And she's with someone. Wait, is she Aya? Our prof entered our class and I'm right she's with Aya. We'll be block mates huh?

"Good morning class." She greeted and we greeted her back.

"I have here your new block mate. She's a newbie here and she just transferred a week ago. Miss please introduce yourself to your block mates" she added as she introduced Aya.

"Dude, I think you know here. Is she the girl from the bar last week? The one who's getting harassed?" Brent tapped my shoulder and asked me.

"Yeah dude, I think so." I just said shrugged.

"Uh hello. I am Aya. Aryaiah Mari Sylvestre. Nice to meet you all" she greeted and smiled in front.

She's Aryaiah? The one who left her ID in my locker? Shoot. I just said that I will not return it to it's owner but I guess I have to.

"Okay miss, you can sit next to Mr. Del Prado since there were no vacant seats for you" our prof said pointing to the chair next to me.

She looked on my side and her mouth formed an "o" when she saw me.

I just waved at her and she came next to me.

"Hey" I said. "You're here."

"Yeah. Seems like you" she said while putting her things down the table.

"Okay class, here is your task. Everyone should get your partner and since you will have to conduct a term paper in regards to the different issues in our society right now. You can start in your home. Is there an issue between your family? Your task is how you are going to solve that. You should go in pairs because at the end of your paper you will have a debate for two. Your issue must be the topic and the one of you two are going to be against or pro about the issue you pick. You can start finding your partners now." Our prof said explained our task.

My block mates started finding their partners. Others just asked their seatmates and others were roaming around as if they were finding their friends.

"Zed, I just take Nigs mine. Are you okay with your seatmate? Since you probably know her." Brent asked as if had found his partner already and it was Inigo.

Aya beside me was roaming her sight to the classroom seeing if someone would come to her and ask her to be her or his partner. A girl stood up next to her.

"Do you already have a partner?" the girl asked. Are you dumb? Don't you see me? I'll be her partner.

Aya would have answered when I interrupted them.

"She's mine" I said looking at the girl in front. "You can find yours."

Aya looked at the girl apologetically as if she's not available to be her partner.

"Why did you say that? Since when did we agree that we're going to be partners? she said wondered why I said that to the girl.

"Since now" I said directly, looking at her, making her look in awe.

"Do you like her more than me?" I asked.

"I mean do you want her to be your partner and not me?" I said explaining myself before she gets me wrong.

"No. It's that you're rude for driving her away" she said whispering at me.

"Well, I can be rude just to make you mine" I hissed at her.

She seemed surprised about what I said and not immediately able to speak. Oh God. I love her reactions. Even though she always seems emotionless you can easily say if she's getting annoyed or what. There's really something about this girl.

"Hey I'm just kidding" I said, taking back what I said earlier. She just shook her head, taking her gaze off of me.

"Zed, can we go to your house on Saturday? We're going to start our study. Right dude?" Inigo said to me while looking at Brent.

"Yeah sure no problem Nigs" I said.

"How about you? When will you start?" Brent asked and slightly looked at Aya who was now writing something on her notebook.

"On Saturday also. Right A?" I said looking at Aya.

"Ah yes" she just said and continued what she was doing.

"You mean it's okay for you to go to our house?" I asked her.

"Yeah sure? As if there were other places you want us to study?" she shrugged.

"So A is her name huh?" Inigo asked.

"Aya. Her name is Aya. Don't call her A. I'm the only one who can call her A. Since she calls me Z and I call her A, we're both in the beginning and end of the alphabet. That sounds fun right?" I asked, smiling at Inigo.

"Seriously dude? Since when did you become that cringing?" Inigo asked, feeling disgusted.

"Uhm Aya mind if I fetch you on Saturday? I mean you still don't know our house I can fetch you up" I asked her.

"I'm okay Z. You can just tell me your address and I will just go to your place" she said at her casual rejection.
