Year 500 of the Earthling calendar
In front of the spaceship boarding, there were nearly 20000 students waiting to go into them which will send them to their assigned army.
In the first line was Jeanne, she was always awed when looking at a spaceship with how big it was, with a length of 1km and a width of 500 meters, all in black, made by sturdy new material which humans created after numerical trials, this is the harder material they can produce nowadays.
It was not the first time, Jeanne will travel in a spaceship. She was born on the main planet of the civilization, the Earth.
But with her tests at 15 years old, she was able to get into the MILKY WAY SCHOOL and to come here she boarded in a spaceship, nonetheless this is truly awe inspiring.
In the spaceship going to the fifth army, there are mainly people who were working there for quite some time, since there are only 10 graduates who will go there.
Aside from Jeanne, Arthur and Leonard, there was only 7 other students from their school, 5 graduates from the military field with Jeanne included and 6 from the scientific field with Jeanne.
They will need to go for 5 days with their max speed with is 8% of the speed of light before arriving at a void path, which will be led them to the farthest star system of Earthling, Barnard's system at a distance of 10 light years away. People will be cryopreserved to not lose their lifespan since 10 years will pass.
After arriving there, they will get their rank in work they do.
Being in the military or a scientist, there are the same number of ranks. People are divided with 10 ranks, only when you begun your career you do not have a rank. After being promoted you will have a round badge for each rank.
For the military, from the lowest to the higher rank:
Rank 0: simple soldier
Rank 1: Lieutenant – a badge with one vertical rectangle on it.
Rank 2: Captain – a badge with two vertical rectangles on it.
Rank 3: Major – a badge with three vertical rectangles on it.
Rank 4: Lieutenant Colonel – a badge with one star on it.
Rank 5: Colonel – a badge with two stars on it.
Rank 6: Brigadier General – a badge with three stars on it.
Rank 7: Major general – a badge made with silver with the Earth on it.
Rank 8: Lieutenant general a badge – made with gold with the Earth on it.
Rank 9: General a badge – made with platinum with the Earth on it.
Rank 10: General in chief – a badge made with orichalcum with the Earth on it.
For the scientific field, from the lowest to the higher rank:

Rank 1: Assistant Researcher – a badge with one brain on it.
Rank 2: Senior Assistant Researcher – a badge with two brains on it.
Rank 3: Associate Researcher – a badge with three brains on it.

Rank 5: Principal Researcher – a badge made with silver with the image of an atom on it.
Rank 6: Senior Principal Researcher – a badge made with gold with the image of an atom on it.
Rank 7: Principal Associate Researcher – a badge made with silver with the image of the constitution of a proton made with two up quark and one down quark who are binding together with gluons which are electric signal on it.
Rank 8: Senior Principal Associate Researcher – a badge made with gold with the image of the constitution of a proton made with two up quark and one down quark who are binding together with gluons which are electric signal on it.
Rank 9: Director – a badge made with platinum with the image of the constitution of a proton made with two up quark and one down quark who are binding together with gluons which are electric signal on it.
Rank 10: General Director – a badge made with orichalcum with the image of the constitution of a proton made with two up quark and one down quark who are binding together with gluons which are electric signal on it.
At the moment, there are only five Generals and five Directors which controlled the space army of each solar system and their own lab. And only one General in chief and one General Director who give orders to the Generals and Directors, they are located in the 5th army and participate at the Earthling council with the President and other important figures.
But within the government the 3 most important members are the President, the General in chief and the General Director.
The main planet where the 5th army is working is a planet 1.5 times bigger than earth, which resemble her the only thing it miss is air, the name of this planet is Espoir.
After arriving there, the workers were divided by their field of work, the students will go to receive their badge which will indicate their rank, Jeanne decided to visit the military first, and planned to go to the science lab the flowing day.
With Arthur and the other new graduates, they arrived in the main base of the planet, while entering, the soldier at the front give them a temporary badge before they get their own to be able to enter.
They entered the General's office, in this room they saw a man in his 60's siting in his desk, with few blond hair on his head, he gives off an aura of a man who participate with a lot of battles who escaped death many times.
"Hello, I'm the General of the 5th army, Ryan Fulka." He said with a gentle smile.
"Well then, first I will give you your badges, you have to put them on the left of your uniform, the right is for the scientists, it will automatically open access to the military base, but some areas are restricted by your rank. By now all of you will become a Captain except for Jeanne Leroy who will instead be a Major." He said while looking at Jeanne, it was him who upgraded her ranks by seeing her result and achievement.
"You will begin working in two days, normally it will be tomorrow since we will be explaining what you will do but since Jeanne has to get her scientific badge tomorrow she will also get an explanation for her superior here."
After a long explication, of how they mostly patrol with spaceships around the star system to detect Falan spaceships since the war is far from finished. Also, there are more advanced virtual headsets than the school for testing their different strategies alone or with the team they will be assigned.
The day after, Jeanne had to go the Director's office with Leo and the others.
The Director was middle-aged woman in her 50's with dark brown skin and dark hair up to her nape.
"Glad to see that this time we have talented scientists who will joins us. I am the Director of the lab of the 5th army, Ada Olowe." she said with a big smile while her eyes were shining with anticipation.
"I think you know, but I will give you your badges now, all of you are now officially a Senior Assistant Researcher except for Jeanne who will be an Associate Researcher." while looking at Jeanne since it was here who allowed this new graduate to skip her rank due to her achievements in the scientific field.
They were mostly explained of their works where thy would continue their research's, they will go in a team and would also have sometimes important assignments by the military to upgrade their weapon, spaceships or anything to battle against the Faran.
The same day, in the evening, in a restaurant, Jeanne, Arthur and Leo were eating while talking about their future work.
"We finally arrive here, so, when will you present your successful research Jeanne?" asked Leo.
"Tomorrow, since I am in both field, I will start working in the morning for the military and the afternoon in the lab, after some time, I will change my schedule since I want to have more time with my researches, like 3 days for my researches and 1 day in the military" Jeanne replied.
"I see, well I hope that it will be an advance weapon for spaceships, I want to show those lowly Faran what we are made of." Arthur said.
"Haha, well maybe, you will know tomorrow." Jeanne laughed.
After enjoying their meal, they returned to their assigned home to be in perfect condition for their first day of work.
The day after, Jeanne was in a 4 way hallway inside the military base, but she didn't how she arrived here.
"How did this happened, I'm sure I was going in the right direction, so how did I get lost?" she whispered to herself.
"Sigh, why are you such a genius when it comes to solving military or scientific problems but on the other hand you have no sense of direction, what a hopeless gal you are." Sigh Arthur who appeared next to her.
He was sure she will be lost, so he decided to follow and he was god damn right.
"AHHH. Shit you scared me asshole!" Jeanne shouted.
"Like hell you are scared, follow me, I'm sure you don't want to be lost on your first day, right?" he said while turning away to walk in another direction and didn't wait for her reply.
"Wait for me." Said Jeanne following him.
After arriving at their destination, which was a big room with many advanced virtual headsets, they saw the other 4 students of their school with a 10000 other people with the same aged as them and a middle-aged man walking toward them.
"Good, to see that everyone is now here, you are a part of the new recruits, you are mainly simple soldier, but some of you did get to school, so there are also some Lieutenants, Captains and we have even an exceptional young Major" he said with a smile.
"Your first work will be working together, with each Lieutenant getting 100 soldiers to command, a Captain will get 20 Lieutenant to command to be able to command 2000 and the Major will command the 5 captains to be able to command everyone here." Looking at each other, all the new recruits, were getting excited.
"You will use these virtual headsets to enter a space which will show you the previous battles against the Faran, you will show me how you will be able to not get beaten by them and if you really deserve your rank? You understand? If yes, show it to me." He roared.
'Interesting, I will have to command 10000 people at this virtual battle, it seems that this 5th army is the real deal' Jeanne thought with a smile while sitting and getting the virtual headset on her head.
She closed her eyes, with in mind the determination to amaze this man and that her rank is not just a mere decoration.
