Giving attention from far

At six o'clock in the morning, Melvin woke up when his smartphone alarm rang so loudly.he was in a room in a metallic apartment and was lying on a king-size bed with a plain white bed sheet and wearing a thick blanket that matched the color of the sheet.

Melvin grabbed his smartphone and immediately turned off the alarm then tried to call someone. He rubbed his slightly dull face, brushed his tousled hair, and looked up at the silver ceiling.

"Hello, Rob, have you done what I told you to do?" Melvin asked when he was connected to that someone.

"Yes, sir. I've also sent to her apartment," answered the man named Robi over the phone.

"In that case, good. after that, take care of the problems she faces," Melvin exclaimed.

"Ready, Sir."

Melvin hung up the phone. He switched to contacting Alexa via WhatsApp via video call.

"Hi, Babe ... good morning," said Melvin, smiling at Alexa who was visible on the screen of his smartphone. He pushed the phone away by holding out his hand so he could get a clearer picture.

"Hi... Have you been in Thailand?" asked Alexa looking neatly dressed in work clothes even though it was still six o'clock.

"Yeah ... I've been at the apartment too," said Melvin. "You are already very beautiful and tidy. Are you going to the office so early?"

"There's a very early meeting. I have to leave now because the distance from here to the office is quite far, especially when the bus is very slow."

"I'll ask my assistant to pick you up."

"That's not necessary. I will ask for it now and you will not refuse it," said Melvin then disconnected the video call because he didn't want to hear the reason why Alexa, who kept refusing every help he gave.

Melvin dared to contact Robi to immediately pick up Alexa because he didn't want his girlfriend to be late and then Siska would curse her as the boss.

Alexa who was already tidy glanced at Gea who was still sleeping wearing clothes like last night because when she came home from the club, she immediately fell asleep.

"Gea, I've made a mini burger for you...I've prepared it at the dining table," she said while wearing black high heels with a height of only about 10 cm. she was indeed very neat in a black knee-length dress combined with a reddish-white long sleeve top and pinned some of her hair back.

"Mini burgers?" said Gea with eyes still sleepy and still hugging the bolster.

"Yes. Last night Melvin brought some fast food ingredients for our breakfast every day if we didn't have time to cook other menus.

"Hmmm... what did you guys do last night?" asked Gea still braked and her back to Alexa who is now sitting on the edge of the bed to check some files in her bag.

"We just ate together and watched a movie," Alexa answered then stood up and walked out of the room saying, "I'm leaving now."

"Yea," said Gea then continued to sleep to continue her dream which had been hampered.

Alexa walked towards the living room door and it turned out that just then the bell rang. she immediately opened the door and saw a male courier wearing a blue uniform, carrying a black medium-sized square box.

"What's this with Miss Alexa?" asked the courier.

"Yes, I'm Alexa," Alexa answered by nodding her head.

"This is for you, and please sign here," the man shouted, handing over a black box and an opened booklet showing a list of signatures as proof of receipt of the goods.

"Eh, okay," said Alexa slightly frowning as she accepted the rather heavy box and then immediately signed it.

The courier took the book that had been signed by Alexa and then put it in the black sling bag he was wearing. after that, he immediately said goodbye to leave while Alexa looked surprised who had given the package and what was in it.

Out of curiosity, Alexa finally decided to return to the living room and sat on the sofa. she immediately opened the box and found that it was a glossy white laptop from the most expensive product.

"Who gave this laptop to me? Could it be Melvin?" Alexa wondered then took her smartphone out of her briefcase. she immediately contacted Melvin via WhatsApp until she was able to connect several times.

Alexa put her laptop and bag on the table. "Did you buy this laptop?" she asked without further ado.

"Yes, honey. I hope you will wear it so that it will be easier for you to work. you better keep the old one as a memory," said Melvin from the other side sounding very calm.

"This must be expensive. You shouldn't have bought it for me. My old laptop can still be used," Alexa said angrily, feeling bad for taking such expensive things for granted. this was a new thing for him because all this time, she always had to work hard to get things, except when she was last rich she treated her with Bastian's money.

"To me, it's cheap and worth it for you to wear. I don't want to hear rejection..now I have to take a shower because soon there will be a large-scale meeting between relations. I'll call you again when it's all over." Melvin said at length that the phone line just ended even though Alexa had not responded.

Alexa sighed then put her phone back in her bag. she kept the new laptop in the room because she didn't want to use it right now. After that she immediately went out and again there was a man who approached her when she just arrived at the door.

"Good morning, Miss Alexa," said a very neat-looking man in a black tuxedo and combing his hair with a haircut style.

"Yes, what is up?" asked Alexa.

"I'm on duty to pick you up," he replied with a warm smile.

"You must have been ordered by Melvin." Alexa guessed by narrowing her eyes.

The man smiled and nodded his head. "Yes, miss. I hope you don't refuse to take me because if you refuse and I don't take you to the office, Mr. Melvin will fire me."

"This is coercion for all parties," Alexa muttered with a shake of her head then continued walking down the corridor to the elevator followed by Robi.

"Miss, you are willing to accompany me, right?" asked Robi while following Alexa.

"Yes, rather than I'll be late you better take you," Alexa replied as she continued walking until she got into the elevator together with Robi and then pressed the button for the ground floor.

While in the elevator, Alexa was silent with a faint smile, remembering the sweet moment she had in the elevator with Melvin, who was still paying attention even though she was in a faraway place. .it made her feel like she wasn't just messing with her and was trying to love her.
