Chapter 18

Angel finally got dressed in a shirt that made his chest pop and some jeans, though his chest didn’t pop out as much as it does for me. It did hide his bigger tummy well, though. Angel pulled a chair out from the table and promptly sat down. Carmen followed suit. I laid a couple of plates down in front of them. Carmen grimaced, but Angel smiled as I sat down next to them.

“Tuna, really?” Carmen asked while holding her nose.

“No, this is perfect,” Angel replied, promptly picking up a sandwich and shoving it in his mouth. As he ate, he looked at both of us, then put the sandwich down.

“Sorry, but I always make a pig of myself when I’m stressed.” Angel said it so matter-of-factly that my head started to spin some more. This was a lot to take in at the moment, and it wasn’t going to settle anytime soon.

“No, don’t worry about it,” I said, doing my best to stay calm. “I also eat like that when I’m feeling nervous.”
