Chapter 16: What Happened?! Part 2
CRYSTAL'S POV
I stood up from my seat and looked over Sera's shoulder to see Elaine trying to catch her breath from running all the way here. Then she spoke in between breaths.
"Sorry...it took so long...I was hanging out with Ar- a friend! " She said which made me a bit suspicious, I'm pretty sure she was about to say Arlo but whatever, I brushed the thought off before heading back to my seat.
"It's fine, come in," Sera said as she opened the door wider for the blue-haired girl to enter. Sera was about to head back inside but was stopped by the blue-haired girl.
"U-uhm Seraphina! I just wanted to...uhm, about the whole Unordinary thing...I'm so sorry! I had no idea things would get this bad! I really wasn't trying to get you in any trouble! I j-just didn't know what to do. "
"There is no need to apologize"
"Huh? "
"You didn't do anything wrong, so don't worry about it, " Sera said as she started heading back inside the house.
"Ah, okay! "
I watched from my seat as Sera led Elaine to the living room where John and I were chilling. Then I heard Elaine say with a smile on her face.
"So why did you call me here for? "
Elaine spotted John and me sitting while minding our own business. And froze in place then shouted out.
"WHAT ARE THEY DOING HERE?! "
John looked at Elaine and said.
"B*tch, I live here."
Elaine continued glaring at John until Sera interrupted.
"Elaine can you heal John"
Elaine's eyes widen at the magenta-haired girl's request.
"Bu-but he's just a cripple!! why do I have to waste my healing on him" Elaine said as she looked at John and gave him a disgusted look, while John glared back at her which gave her chills up her spine.
"Elaine" Sera said getting the attention of the healer. Sera's eyes started glowing blue which meant her ability was activated. Elaine started shaking slightly, she then gave a small sigh and gave in to the magenta haired girl request and started walking towards John, while Sera started walking into John's bedroom with her suitcase in her hand, while I stood up and followed her, not wanting to watch the other two continue their little quarrel anymore. I sat on the bed and playing games on my phone while Sera started unpacking her things and placing them in a corner.
Getting bored of the game I stuffed my phone in my pocket and started chatting with Sera about games and boba. After a few minutes of chatting, I suddenly heard someone shout faintly across the hallway, coming from the living room.
"Hey Sera, I'm just gonna check out what the two are doing," I said as Sera nodded her head, then I started walking towards the living room, hearing some parts of their conversation.
"That's impossibl-!!?"
That was the last thing I heard before Sera called me back into John's room to help her with some stuff. "Why was Elaine's sentence cut off suddenly? Maybe something happened, knowing those two things certainly did happen" I thought as I continued walking back to Sera.

After Sera and I were finished, we walked into the living room, Sera stretched her sore arms. Sera and I noticed that Elaine was gone.
"Hey, where did Elaine go?" Sera asked John
"Oh, she just left, something urgent came up, so she had to run." John said as I thought for a moment "Why would Elaine leave before saying goodbye? " I thought as I place my hand under my chin.
"Hmm, weird " was all Sera said
After a couple of hours has passed I finally decided to go home now. I said goodbye to them and went on my way back to my condo. As I walked through the streets I let myself drown in my own thoughts, which made my way to my condo go by faster. "Another day of school tomorrow huh," I said to myself as I entered my unit and started getting ready for bed.

{ 6:30 am}
I was walking through the halls just taking a stroll when I overheard one of the students say something.
"Hey so guess what I heard! Someone saw Arlo go into the infirmary this morning"
"So? He was probably just checking on someone."
"No, no! Apparently, his face was covered in bruises!"
As I heard what she said my face turned into a mix of shock and confusion at the same time. "How and why did Arlo get bruises? " I wondered as I continued walking the halls. Trying to get to my next class without any trouble.

Classes were done and students started exiting their classrooms. I exited the classroom and started leaving school with my bag over my shoulder as I passed the other students. As I was about round around a corner, I caught a glimpse of a paper attached to the corkboard for announcements, I got curious so I started walking towards the paper. I took a good look at it and it wrote "Death Pool, which superhero will die next? place your bet's now! " As soon as I read it, I clenched my fist up into a tight ball and started ripping the paper to shreds.
My eyes filled with anger and confusion. "' Why would they play with people's lives! Do they think it's just some kind of joke? Don't they know these people try their best to protect us and what do they do, they bet on their lives! " I shouted in my mind as I tore the paper to shreds and just threw it on the ground, and continued walking. As I started walking the streets towards my condo I decided to call Sera and invite her to get some boba. I got my phone out of my pocket and dialed Sera's number.
Hey, Sera are you busy right now?
No, why?
Do you wanna get some boba and hang out?
Sure why not
Great! meet you at John's house in 1 hour
Okay
And with that, I stuffed my phone back in my pocket and started heading inside the lobby of my condo. I opened the door to my unit and started getting ready. I took a short shower and started dressing up. I decided to wear a blue top with denim shorts with a cap and a pair of white shoes.
And for my hair, I just did a half-up with a messy bun. I took one look at myself in the mirror, checking for anything out of place then I headed out with my wallet in my pocket the condo keys in my right hand, and my phone in the other.

"Hey, Sera!" I said as I saw the magenta-haired girl with casual clothes on, in front of John's house looking at her phone. She lifted her head to see me waving at her, she just smiled and started walking towards me.
We started chatting about stuff as we walked towards the cafe called Woaba Boba. We then entered the cafe and the waitress there led us to an empty booth then we sat down. She then left for a second then came back with two menus in her hands. She placed it on our table and bowed to us before she left to take other orders. I picked up one menu and brought it up to my face, looking at the different drinks and food they have here. After Sera and I decided on what we wanted to buy we placed the menu back on the table and started chatting again trying to pass the time until the waitress came back to our booth.
"I'll be taking your orders now." She said as held a pen and a paper in her hands.
" I'll just get a banana smoothie please". I said to her with a small smile on my face. She started scribbling down my order then she turned to Sera.
"I'll get a Mango Boba" The waitress nodded as she wrote it down. She then bowed again and said "excuse me" then left. I turned back to see Sera staring at me with her hand under her chin for support.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked the girl as she leaned back on her seat.
"It looks like you have something on your mind, care to share?" I let out a sigh before looking down at the table in boredom.
"It's nothing I just heard some rumors in school today" The magenta-haired girl raised an eyebrow.
"Oh? What's it about?"
"Well...Some students seemed to have seen Arlo go to the infirmary early in the morning. With bruises." Sera just rolled her eyes and leaned her head on her arm.
"Seems like your more worried than curious Crystal" I snapped my head towards Sera to see her smirking at me, I looked at her in disbelief.
"Pshhh, why would I be worried of an asshole like him getting hurt. It's not like we're close or anything, I just overheard some students talking about it." I stated to the girl as she let out a small chuckle.
"I'm just saying, you guys would seem good together if he wasn't such an ass, don't you think so?" I looked at her in shock before I felt a tint of blush on my cheeks.
"Whatever! Like that would ever happen" Sera just laughed at my flustered face as I denied everything, but when all of a sudden suddenly the news then mention something about vigilantes that died.
The both of us turned my attention to the TV screen hanging on the wall of the cafe and watched closely anger slowly building up inside me as they mentioned that superheroes are just wasting their time trying to protect us when the authorities are here. Sera noticed my sudden change in expression and gently patted my shoulder.
"You okay Crystal? " she asked me, I turned my head to face her, as my face softened as I thought of my friends in Wellston.
"It's nothing Sera, I'm fine" I replied as one of her eyebrows rose to give me an unconvinced look.
"Don't forget that we're friends, all right? I'm all ears whenever you wanna share something" she said with a small smile on her face. I smiled back at her then looked down at the table, as I was about to say something the waitress then arrived holding a tray with two drinks on top.
"Here are your drinks," the waitress said as she placed our drinks in front of us. We thanked her for the drinks, she just nodded her head then went off to do other things. I then picked up my drink and started sipping away, tilting my head to the side so it was facing the glass window. Drowning in my thoughts about school and my family.
I then suddenly felt something wet begin dripping down my face, I didn't even realize I was crying until Sera placed her hand on my shoulder with a worried expression on her face. I quickly wiped the tears from my face then faced Sera again.
"What's wrong Crystal? " She asked
"It's nothing...I just remembered something from the past " I said to her as I forced a small smile. She knew I was faking it but she let it slide. We then continued talking until it was already late. We paid for our drinks and left the cafe before beginning to walk back home until we reached the intersection near my condo.
"Thanks for hanging out with me Sera"
"No problem I had fun anyway," she said as we both waved goodbye to each other then I went ahead to my condo.
