Uncanny Scarlet-Spider - On Hiatus

Original synopsis Set immediately after the original Clone story-line. Ben Reilly heads to Bayville unaware that his past is still following him. Originally written by kiyone4ever. Yes, I have gotten permission. In Volume Three some of the stories were donated by Author 'whitenightredcross' with permission as well. Ben Reilly learns he is a clone of Peter Parker, instead of interfering with his Original's life he attempts to find his own place in this world. Going to a town miles away he begins his new career as the Scarlet-Spider. What he doesn't expect is this town is the home of a different group of powered individuals called the X-men. Watch as Ben Reilly makes a new path in this world. P.S. I kept the first 13 chapters of the original author (because I really liked it) and added my own details to the story. P.P.S This story-line has a lot to do with the comics... You might feel a little lost but no worries, the story explains itself in time. Release info: for the first forty chapters are 1000 to 1500 words, Chapters 41 and up are 2000 to 2500 words per chapter. Any chapter that was shared by another author was added to and often totally rewritten. But they are other people's work, to begin with so all praise goes to them.

Chapter Thirty Seven:

Warren was stunned he didn't understand what the hell was going on!

"That was Gwen... but why?" He muttered to himself. He needed to retrieve the data and analyze it before he could fully understand what just happened. Running to his computer terminal he started transferring information to an external hard drive.

"Master, the Gwen girl has taken down the force field and it won't be long before we have guests. What would you like to do about that?" Spidercide asked in a nonplused tone. It was apparent he didn't find the current situation dyer in the least. Possibly a side effect of Warren's manipulation of his thoughts but if Warren had paid attention to the past few events, he might have realized that there was something off about the clones he had been producing lately... They seemed to have a mind of their own and a past he hadn't given them.

"Stall them! Do I really have to explain everything to you? Are you a simpleton?" Warren was frustrated, he didn't intend on Gwen taking down the barrier around them so early. The aggravation of not understanding what exactly happened to his creation burned him deeply... he is a genius! Warren was supposed to have everything figured out. So how exactly would a glorified 'doll' have a different personality than her original? She was supposed to be easily manipulated! What the hell was a 'Gwenpool'! Where did the name even come from?! It was looking more and more as if he would have to take out that virus sooner rather than later.

Fingering a vial of the virus in his pocket Dr. Warren gnashed his teeth. "Also..." Warren said before the clone could leave the room fully. "Release the 'Gradians' you might need a little help."

The teams watched as the force fields were dropped as a blonde dressed in a pink shot out of the broken dome. She paused to look at them for a moment only to smile at them and laugh hysterically as she jumped away.

Taking a brief look at each other they all decided to let her go... She was probably a mutant that escaped late. With most of the other mutants already contained, SHIELD should be able to handle her with relative ease. With a wave of crimson energy, Scott blasted a hole in the side of the dome the group quickly infiltrated the base. With a grim look on their faces, the group slowly walked inside the steaming hole.

"I want this place completely surrounded! Take the prisoners to a secure location; I don't want chaos if someone attempts to spring them from their collective cages." Fury told the red-headed lady beside him 'Widow' was her code name if Storm remembered correctly.

Four separate teams converged creating a group of twenty or so walking into the hole of the Broken dome with absolute confidence. Even Fury that had around seventy years of tactical experience didn't seem to be taking that much precaution walking into the broken dome base.

This in particularly seemed odd to Logan. He knew Fury fairly well and he never did anything without making sure there was the best cheese at the end of the maze. So why was he going so far for this one? Logan wasn't the 'thinker' of the X-Men he left that to Hank, Charles, and Ororo. But the look on Fury's face seemed more desperate than he had ever thought possible. Something stank... and he didn't want his people to suffer when they found out what kind of proverbial 'cheese' turned out to be.

Logan's musings were cut short by a few figures appearing in front of them... suddenly it wasn't just a few figures it was more than fifty. Then more than a hundred and they just kept coming. The smell on these guys seemed wrong to him like spoiled meat. Logan growled he didn't like this at all.

"Hello X-Men, SHIELD. I see that you have come uninvited yourselves to our little party. But we are still lacking certain participants... I hope my brothers and sisters can keep you company until they arrive. These... things lack intelligence and the full spectrum of powers of our original but... there are a lot of them, they should still be a decent appetizer." A jovial voice said from the darkness. Scott noticed it had sounded eerily similar to Ben's voice and he couldn't help the scowl that appeared on his face.

Gwen was a little confused about how she had been reborn in this life. She wasn't even part of the Marvel world originally; she had been reborn in this multiverse with her brother Teddy a few years ago. Damn, she has had some fun times since then… this world of fictional characters was a blast. Since no one was an actual living person killing was simply like playing a gory video game to her.

When she decided to take a little trip off-world with a talking raccoon and tree… (she had already forgotten their names she never really read their comics in the first place) On her little venture attempting to track down their bounty, she managed to painstakingly convince the bounty hunters to give her the entire bounty to her. Unexpectedly, she was shot directly in the forehead!

"Readers! Do you understand what that meant to the world at large?! My comic was canceled!" She yelled out into open stifling air.

"I'm sure there were many people who wrote very scathing letters to Marvel," Gwen said shaking her head. "Complaining about killing beautiful little ol' me off like that!"

"But it was all a ruse! Something to bring in more comic readers." She said with a laugh. "Bringing me back in another reality with… getting these superpowers! Yeah, I agree bringing me into Marvel without my own set of superpowers was a tragedy in and of itself. Luckily someone out there decided it was the perfect chance to bring me back with a few… Jumping powers? No, I am stronger too…" Gwenpool had been jumping in the desert for about half an hour now, narrating like a loon to herself.

It would have been a little embarrassing for most people if they were caught in a similar situation, but Gwenpool lived in her own world and not many bothered her there.

"Hmmm, I wonder if I'm still a D class character? I guess I will know if I'm in any part of the upcoming scenes."

Gwen paused as she spotted a similarly jumping figure in the distance. With a smile, Gwen waved.

"I guess I'm at least a C class character this time around!" She said excitedly.

Ben was in the middle of an explanation of how his new web-shooters worked to MJ and Peter, while Jean seemed less interested. He hated the distance between them now, it was like all of their progress for the last month was totally wasted.

Shaking his head at the thought he caught MJ's eye watching his expressions when he was looking at Jean. She was probably bursting at the seams to ask questions, not that he had answers. Honestly, he didn't have the time either way.

Coming up to him she whispered in his ear where only he could hear, "Ben, don't worry too much. Jean… I believe she just wants to have a clear head going into this fight." Smiling he patted her on the shoulder. He thought about the situation briefly. It had been a random turn of events they had even gotten as close as they had… he should just be happy to have a friend. For a clone, it was more than he should expect or maybe even deserved.

"Alright guys prepare to grapple down; Jean I know you don't really need a harness…"

"We don't really need harnesses either, we'll just jump," Peter told the blue guy with a smile. With their enhanced abilities even without their webs, they could jump fifty feet easily.

Nodding his head, "Okay, well the ship is hovering over where the X-men's last location. So, if you would…"

Beast didn't finish his sentence before he started lowering the cargo hold door for their exit.

Jean started to hover as Ben and Peter took a running start leaping towards the ground. Mary Jane's voice could be heard to be safe.

Landing on sandy earth they took a brief look at each other than at the massive dome in front of them. The two spiders leaped towards the open hole in the top where a battle could already be heard echoing from inside.
