CHAPTER II

I went down to bid my mother goodbye as I go hunting. As usual she's by the kitchen trying to make do of the very little meat I've hunted yesterday. I gathered logs from fallen trees and started to chop them up. While doing so, I made a mental list of work that must be done for today. I have three things in mind: one, gather wood, two, get more meat, and three, visit Elly.

Elly Kataluna is my best friend. Unlike me, she was raised in the best home of our village, she lives in a manor with perfectly reinforced walls, and roof that can withstand even the roughest of rains and not cause a single drop on their velvet carpets. Elly is the only child of our resident doctor, Mr. Eugene Kataluna. Mr. Eugene practically raised Elly on his own as his wife, Mrs. Angela Kataluna works within the impenetrable walls of the Imperial family as an assistant for Queen Arlena de Chevalier. Servant or not, so long as you work within the walls of the Imperial city you are guaranteed to be paid well for your services, which explains why Elly's family stands out in our village.

I collected the chopped woods. I stared far into the deep dark forests that feels as though it stares at me back. I went back home to place the wood I've collected in a box along with leftover wood.

"And now it's time to hunt" I said to myself as I close the lid. I stared at the dark forest once more and slowly move my feet towards it. The tree's changing colors made it less intimidating to the villagers, but on a typical day, they all would stay away from it. But not me. I love the forest. It's my quick escape, and hunting is where I'm good at. I pick up my pace and went inside. Now my hunting begins.
