“I don’t know why, but I feel very nervous going into town by myself. Oh, and I stopped by Alex’s too.”
“That's to be expected. You don't know the area well enough and you've been through a lot. Who is Alex?”
“Alex is the owner of the restaurant I worked at when I left the hospital. I went to go ask him if he still has a place for me to work in his restaurant.”
Ethan’s eyes narrowed immediately and he opened his mouth to speak, but Chloe beat him to it.
“What? I’m not an invalid and two weeks is more than enough for me to get myself back. I know you mean well, but I do not particularly enjoy being a charity case. I’m more than okay to get back to work.”
