The Beginning, I think?

No matter how much I focus, meditate, or just plain try to force myself to remember, I do not remember anything before Louis. Louis is where my life begins. She does not speak too much about what life was like with my parents around, but she is very forthcoming about what they were like.

My mother, Voilitia, had deep blue eyes that, at first, you wouldn't notice in a crowded room. But after getting a glimpse at how deep and almost purple her eyes were, they were apparently hard to untangle from. Her hair, the blackest black that could possibly exist, cascaded down to her waist. The sheen of purple in her eyes matched she shine of purple from her hair. From the way that Louis talks about her, our looks is where our similarities end. She says that my mouth is all from my father.

Louis is more restrained in her reports of my father. Ashytear, such a royal and unique name. He was younger than my mother by a few unknown years. Louis will become distracted when talking about how white his hair was. She says it was always that way, for as long as she had known him but that it was always very striking. He had such a distinct voice, she could tell he was in the village whenever he spoke, his deep rich voice carrying. Whenever I asked what about his eyes or his face, Louis says that her memory would become hazy. I always imagine him with deep brown eyes to contrast his hair, almost as black as my mother's hair.

Louis always was mistaken for my sister or another of my age. She has not changed a bit for all the years that she has sheltered and loved me. Sometimes I try to get her to tell me how old she is, and always get caught not 'minding myself'.
