No where, Pt 2

Violet was practically skipping out the front door this morning, on our way for me to fulfill my end of the deal.

The amount of business we had experienced in the store in the recent fortnight had truly been something that I both relief, from the income, but also a deep pit in my stomach was forming with each new outsider stepping into our intimate shop.

I built this apothecary from ash and I'll be damned if it gets too much attention, or shall I say, if Violet gets too much attention. I wanted to slam my head into the wall of the hallway as I listened in on Violet's attempt at innocently offering service to the outsider. I know it is my fault for her lack of socialization, but her interactions will get her innocence devoured if I am not always around to step in.

She is always looking for excitement, and I know they can feel her eagerness radiate off of her. Just makes me want to look her up tighter. She believes that her age is still too young to marry, if only..

"Violet, slow down," I hollered after her as her pace increased, now having the village hustle in view.

I couldn't resist her deal that she instigated with me. If we had 20 visitors by the Holy End, we would finally set out to buying us a horse, to further the success of our business.

"Louis, this week feels different to me," Violet admitted after an unusual second customer of the day came buy. He initially sought out directions, but Violet's fluttering eyelashes sold the gentleman on her new formula of soaps she had created.

"Hmmm," I gently offered, not wanting her to dig into that feeling too much.

"Why do you think we are getting asked for directions", asked Violet. It was unusual. Not only do we hardly see anyone this departed from the village, much less coincidentally looking for the same path.

"Likely because we are the only ones out here, dear", I hesitated. Surely we are, aren't we?

"I bet you we get more visitors this week, than we get in an entire solstice quarter!"

"Sure, if you say so, and I will sell my life source to Crumb and Toast during the eclipse", I snipped back. Why can't we talk about soap flavors?

As I reflect on how the bet came about, thinking that I would never have had to give the situation energy again, I watched as Violet practically twirled over to the only horse dealer in a few hundred miles radius. I shook my head as she turned around, and her eyes were completely shut and squinted by her smile.

The gentleman brought forward the mare and stud that Violet had been chattering about since we last visited town.

"They surely will sell them as a pair, right," she blurted as we past Grieg's horse barn.

"Would you like to go and ask Grieg," I teased. I know she would die of embarrassment, going to casully talk to a villager.

Her blush then resembles the rosy cheeks she bears now in her victory, as she walks towards me now.

"Milady, might I introduce our newest resident's? Sir and Ma'am," Violet sang to me, as I tried to hide my smile.
