The Incident in the Welfare Home

Liang Yan had just been discharged from the hospital and had to rest well to recuperate. Huo Qingning had temporarily confiscated her cell phone. So, she had missed the call from the dean. Huo Qingning had been busy these few days. He had to deal with all sorts of matters at the hospital, take care of Liang Yan, and even find time to care about the progress of the welfare home. Looking at Huo Qingning coming in and getting out of the room, Liang Yan felt sorry and said, "Huo Qingning, you should take a rest."

The fact that Liang Yan suddenly fainted because of heart failure scared the wits out of Huo Qingning. So, he took good care of Liang Yan. It wasn't that Liang Yan wanted to stay in bed, but Huo Qingning didn't want her to walk around. She was chewing on a peeled apple in her hand, and Huo Qingning was busy working beside her. Liang Yan peeped curiously, "Is it about the welfare home?"

Liang Yan tried his best to sound like she did not care, but her curious gaze couldn't fool Huo Qingning at all.

"Yes, but I can't show it to you," Huo Qingning said with a smile on his face. Liang Yan had no idea why Huo Qingning was being mysterious. So, she shrugged because she was already used to Huo Qingning doing something like that. Anyway, she had planned to sneak a peek at the documents when Huo Qingning was not around.

Suddenly, something struck Huo Qingning. He stopped typing on the keyboard and took Liang Yan's phone out of a drawer. That immediately caught Liang Yan's attention. She excitedly took the phone, "You're finally returning it to me."

"I think the welfare home's dean called just now. I almost forgot," Huo Qingning continued working after saying that.

Stunned, Liang Yan thought, "Did something happen? Why did mother suddenly call me? I just visited a few days ago."

Liang Yan dialed the dean's number, and the dean picked it up as soon as it went through. However, before Liang Yan could greet the dean, the dean interrupted, "Liang Yan! I treated you well when you were at the welfare home, didn't I? Why do you have to repay my kindness like this?"

The dean's voice sounded like she was crying. As she panted, she continued, "I didn't expect you to be such an ungrateful person."

Liang Yan, who had no idea what happened, said, "Mother, please calm down. What happened?"

Liang Yan quickly changed her clothes.

When Huo Qingning saw Liang Yan changing her clothes anxiously, he also wore his coat. All Liang Yan could hear from the other end of the call was noises, as if someone was arguing. Liang Yan didn't have time to think much and walked out of the room. Huo Qingning pulled her back. Before she could struggle, Huo Qingning put a coat on her. Then, Liang Yan realized that she was wearing only a singlet because she was anxious.

"Thank you..." Liang Yan said in a daze. She did not know that Huo Qingning had such a caring side.

Huo Qingning did not mind taking care of Liang Yan. He comforted Liang Yan, "I'll drive you there."

Liang Yan nodded.

Liang Yan almost cried on the way there. Huo Qingning sped when he saw Liang Yan's expression. In less than half an hour, the two of them arrived at the welfare home. They could hear the commotion in the welfare home from afar. Liang Yan was anxious because she knew the dean would not blame her for no reason. The dean must be in trouble.

Huo Qingning held Liang Yan's hand as he comforted, "Don't be afraid. I've already explained everything to my grandfather."

The two of them saw Liang Youli at the welfare home. Before they could figure out what was going on, they saw the dean was holding onto Liang Youli with a group of people surrounding them. They seemed to be arguing about something.
