Chapter Five

"What just happened?" Seth asked, curiously.

"I'm not too sure to be honest, I have never felt this much power before, so I don't know what it means," Vlad questioned.

The following week, they both wondered about what that energy Vlad had suddenly felt. Not being able to think of anything they went to see Sam and Jake as well as Ateara and Seth, but not even they knew.

"Well Vlad, in my experience, if what you explained, that much power doesn't usually end well. There are too many that would kill for that kind of power or to control it," Seth told them.

"They would want to destroy you if they couldn't persuade you to join their side. However, with the Vultori gone, that makes us the powerful clan, especially with the pack tied to us. We have more defence than the Vultori ever did," Ateara added.

"So what do we do now?" Vlad asked.

"We just have to stay vigilant. Like Ateara said, we are the strongest clan now. So Vlad you can continue to search for your parents. Go back to that rock where you sensed their presence to see what else you can pick up," Carlisle suggested.

Vlad nodded and left, Seth went with him.

Seth stood next to Vlad whilst he stared at the rock. He wasn't sure what was going on, but Vlad looked a bit dazed. Vlad, still sensing his parents' presence, when suddenly smoke appeared. At first they were shocked until they realised it was seeping through a crack. There was so much smoke they hadn't noticed two figures emerging. Once it had cleared Vlad couldn't believe his eyes. There stood in the flesh were his mother and father.

"Mom? Dad? Is it really you?" Vlad asked, then turned to Seth, "Pinch me," Vlad whispered.

"Vlad? My dear, yes it really is us. We have missed you," his mom answered, with an angelic voice, one that Vlad had missed.

"We had been imprisoned in here and you saved us from eternal torture," his dad beamed.

"Imprisoned? Why? By who?" Seth asked, as Vlad stared wide eyed and opened mouthed, unsure of what to say.

"It was a witch. What was her name?" his mom started before turning to her husband.

"I think her name was Medea," his dad answered.

"Medea! That was it!" his mom repeated.

Vlad's eyes went wide.

"She was a crazy bitch," his dad added.

"Vlad! Are you alright? You look like you've seen a ghost?" his mom asked, bringing him out of his trance.

"Oh yeah, I'm alright, it's just that I fought with her, but I had help," Vlad explained.

His parents looked at one another not knowing what to say next.

"What do you mean you fought with her and who helped you?" his mum asked, concerned.

His dad kept quiet as he waited for Vlad to speak.

Vlad wasn't sure what to say, or how to start. He pondered for a moment before opening his mouth.

"Well after the battle, I was told that you were gone and wasn't coming back, our neighbour took me in but it only lasted until I turned eight. They found out who I was and chucked me out. They left me to fend for myself and I managed it for a few days. That is when I met Seth and Ateara. They took me in and I've been with them ever since. We fought Medea, who is Seth's older sister. He managed to confine her in a deep slumber," Vlad told them.

"That would explain how you sensed our presence. She's a powerful witch and had cloaked us from everyone. Her powers must be slowly depleting which is why you were able to free us," his mum explained.

Vlad looked at them confused.

"But I'm no witch. I'm a Vampire Wolf hybrid. I don't have that sort of power…" Vlad began.

"... Unless all it needed was a blood connection to break the curse," Seth finished, Vlad looked at him.
