Twilight in Obsidian

“Please take me with you,” the woman whispered. Her voice was dry and hoarse, her body trembled like a leaf on an unsettled wave. Was it because of the crime she had just committed, or was it because of the aura the man before her gave off? She must be sick, both in and out of the head. Everything in her said not to ask for help, or at least not to ask him for help, nevertheless, here she was bowing her head down before him. “Now, why would I do that?” His dark, airy voice filled her ears. His voice sent shivers down her spine, making her freeze in her spot. Her head sank to the floor, unmoving. “I do anything from cleaning to washing, and cooking,” she said, muttering her words, timidly. The man hunched down to her size and uttered, his breath tickling her neck. “Have you met me before?” “No, but I can—” She began to say, as if he were contemplating her request but was quickly interrupted. “Don't be so quick to sell yourself to death.” Passing through her, he left her to crumble on the ground. °∆° "Did you think I would let you go after I found you? Do you know how long I have waited for this moment?” His voice deepened with each word that fell off his lips. The woman stepped back, not wanting to get close to this terrifying man. “I am being truthful, Your Highness. I don't know you, Your Majesty, our families haven't met for any reason. So please let me go,” she whispered. Her body touched the wall. Now she was stuck between the wall and the terrifying man. “Please, My Lord, I don't know what you are talking about,” She whimpered. He placed his strong hands on her hip, giving it a light squeeze as he pulled her closer to his chest. He whispered into her ears, “I missed you so much, it's been a long while, My love” He placed his head on hers °∆° R18 PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BOOK COVER ISN'T MINE, IT WAS FOUND AND REDESIGNED BY ME. ~Chapter 49~

"Will Marina be following you out?"

Lady Samara blinks at his comment, as she had forgotten that she was also taking Marina with her. "Is that going to be a problem?" She asked, twisting them to another answer.

"N-no, not at all. I-I only wanted to confirm with you or her whereabouts, be-be-because regardless of her status, she is still a mem-ber of the ho-house, so she is still under my care".

"You really love your job, don't you?"

"With my life"

"Then I hope you leave soon, as this family is not worth your time and effort"

"Indeed"

Lady Samara brushed the loose strands of hair from her face as she nodded. She turned around, walking back to the carriage. "We will discuss this some more in the later times."

"Yes, My Lady"

"Then await for my letter."

"As y-you wish"

She waved him off as she made her way to the carriage. She saw Marina sitting beside the coachman.

"Is she awake?" she asked, making inquiries about Yen.

She shook her head negatively as she responded, "Not Yet, But if you want me to, I could wake her up"

Lady Samara thought about it for a moment before nodding. "That would be good. We can have conversations as we go".

"I understand"

Marina stepped down from where she sat as she made the move to open the carriage door. Once the carriage door was opened, Lady Samara noticed Yeona, peacefully sleeping on Lady Gwen's lap, while Sereia had a mini-size book of spells. It was just a palm size book.

"Took you long enough," Lady Gwen said, noticing ‌Lady Samara.

Lady shrugged her shoulders as she stepped inside with the help of the footman. "Inquires had to be made. As unlike you, I know how to control my anger and disgust, especially when it's necessary"

Lady Gwen said nothing as a response to her words, just looked down at the sleeping girl on her lap. Sereia lifted her eyes over the top lid of her book. She shook her head at the dumb arguments she thought they were going to have. Her eyes trailed to Yen on her mother's legs. She was genuinely happy to have finally found someone with whom she didn't need to hide her true self. She hoped Yeona was opened to socializing with her own friends, or at the very least be acquainted to them.

Lady Gwen lifted her head up and turned to Marina. "You want to wake her up?"

"Yes, I do, My Lady"

"I see," Lady Gwen nodded as she adjusted her body to allow space for Marina to undo her spell.

"Awake, Yeona" She spelled. And per usual, on command, Yeona woke up. She looked disheveled and groggy. She blinked away the sleep from her eyes as she slowly began adjusting to the light and environment.

Her brows furrowed as she noticed the eyes and attention that were on her. She glanced around and when she met familiar faces, all the memories from previous minutes began rushing into her head.

Yeona jolted up sharply as she placed space between them. "Where are you taking me to?" she asked as suspicion placed into her eyes.

She wasn't even trying to hide the fact that she was not in favor with them.

"Well, first, we are going to get something to eat for lunch, as Sera told me you both had to share a meal for breakfast," Lady Gwen said. She muttered, as she knew the child was weary of them. It showed in the girl's demeanor.

Yeona's eyes turned splits as she thought through her words. It was true she was rude, but what they did to Marina was not tolerable.

Marina sighed as she placed her hands on Yeona's thigh to grab her attention, "I am fine, My Lady." Her voice held a reassuring tone that was enough to convince Yen immediately.

"Are you sure?" She asked. She still had a bit of lingering doubt in here. "No wounds or injury?"

"Not at all, My lady. I am as health as a horse," She assured as she made a funny show of lifting her arms up in a muscular manner.

Yeona smiled with her as the wave of relief washed over her.

But then Yen's brows folded as a stern look replaced her smiling one, "But then again, Yeona, —" She began. The sudden change in her voice took Yen by surprise as she listened on to her next words, "You were rude to the high noble ladies… If word got out that you didn't show class and respect towards them, I believe it's only the gods that would save you at the moment".

Yen's eyes widen as the realization of her rude acts dawned onto her. Meanwhile, the other three ladies sniffled in their laughs as they watched the scenario continue.

"But I didn't mean to… it was them… but…" Her words became a jumble on her lips, as she didn't know what to say as a defense.

"Oh, well, I guess Sir York and I would find time to visit you in prison," Marina teased. She looked away, acting out her part as though Yeona was really going to prison. Then she suddenly bowed at Lady Gwen and Lady Samara, "Please forgive her, as she is only but a little child. With the friendship you have with her mother, I plead with you to lessen her sentence year in prison"

"I guess two or three years would be enough," Lady Samara thought out to them. She had made it more believable as she tapped her fingers on her chin and thought hard about what she would do.

Meanwhile, Yeona's heart began beating wide in her chest. 'Two to three years?' She didn't even want to spend a week in prison, but she was going to spend more than a year in it? The worst part was she didn't even know lady Samara well enough to request for her forgiveness. But she was going to try. After all, she didn't want to end up in jail.

She stood quarterly as she minded the roof of the carriage. Turning to Lady Gwen and Lady Samara, she pleaded, "Um — I am really sorry for what I said back in the house. I truly didn't mean it and I acted out of emotional and I—"

"I don't know," Lady Samara said, interrupting her pleas. "It looked like you really did mean to kick us out"

Well, she did, but she wasn't going to admit it to her. After all, it would defeat the point of her pleas, so she kept quiet.

"Where is the previous confident you had on you?" She taunted.

Yeona's brows deepened as she slowly began getting angry again. She truly wasn't in the wrong. After all, they were the ones who came into her house without announcement and also had the nerve to hurt someone living there. So if someone was supposed to apologize, it definitely wasn't going to be here.

This was a common scenario amongst wealthy nobles. Yen knew that if she were to go to Prime court, she would easily lose the case as she had uolas to her name. Which was why she would most likely be the one going to jail and not them.

Lady Gwen and Lady Samara watched as her face morphed from her fearful pleas to cautious annoyance. They could see how reluctant she was to apologize again, but still she tried to keep her anger at bay.

Similar to Claire.

'I wonder how much of their similarity I would get to see,' Lady Samara thought to herself. But she was sure she wasn't going to push it again.

Yeona's espresso contorted into an annoyed look. She curl her lips, baring her teeth in a snarl, the lines on the brows twisted in disdain as her eyes held a disgusted look, "No! I did nothing wrong. Yes, I was rude, but regardless, you were also wrong for hurting an innocent person. So I believe that i to deserve an apology".

"I would never hurt an Aswinesian woman, regardless of the status"

"Well, you did, and you need to apologize for it"

"But it wasn't you who got hurt, so why do you need an apology?" Lady Samara taunted. This simply earned a sigh from both mother and daughter, as they were sick of the unnecessary back and forth. "Therefore, I should apologize to Marina and not you?"

Yeona's cheeks flushed crimson with embarrassment, her face played a vivid display of embarrassment. She looked away from Lady Samara's face. She was really starting to dislike the woman.

A soft sigh escaped her lips as she rubbed on her temple. "I guess that would make," she agreed.

Lady Gwen sharply cut through the conversation, "Samara, stop your antics. She isn't on the level to go back to back with you".

Lady Samara smiled as she turned to Marina. "You aren't hurt, are you?"

"No, I am not"

"I see, then my apologies for attacking you. I was angry at their statement".

"Don't worry about it, I understand also, I have being seething in rage from the moment they began treating her like a serf"

Lady Samara smiled and gave a curt nod. She turned to Yeona, who looked surprise to see that she actually did apologize, as she didn't think she would actually do it.

"Does that satisfy you?" She asked, grabbing her attention.

"Yes, it does"

"That's good," She completed with a clap of her hands, "Now that the bad blood has being spilled, we need to talk"
