Twilight in Obsidian

“Please take me with you,” the woman whispered. Her voice was dry and hoarse, her body trembled like a leaf on an unsettled wave. Was it because of the crime she had just committed, or was it because of the aura the man before her gave off? She must be sick, both in and out of the head. Everything in her said not to ask for help, or at least not to ask him for help, nevertheless, here she was bowing her head down before him. “Now, why would I do that?” His dark, airy voice filled her ears. His voice sent shivers down her spine, making her freeze in her spot. Her head sank to the floor, unmoving. “I do anything from cleaning to washing, and cooking,” she said, muttering her words, timidly. The man hunched down to her size and uttered, his breath tickling her neck. “Have you met me before?” “No, but I can—” She began to say, as if he were contemplating her request but was quickly interrupted. “Don't be so quick to sell yourself to death.” Passing through her, he left her to crumble on the ground. °∆° "Did you think I would let you go after I found you? Do you know how long I have waited for this moment?” His voice deepened with each word that fell off his lips. The woman stepped back, not wanting to get close to this terrifying man. “I am being truthful, Your Highness. I don't know you, Your Majesty, our families haven't met for any reason. So please let me go,” she whispered. Her body touched the wall. Now she was stuck between the wall and the terrifying man. “Please, My Lord, I don't know what you are talking about,” She whimpered. He placed his strong hands on her hip, giving it a light squeeze as he pulled her closer to his chest. He whispered into her ears, “I missed you so much, it's been a long while, My love” He placed his head on hers °∆° R18 PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BOOK COVER ISN'T MINE, IT WAS FOUND AND REDESIGNED BY ME. ~Chapter 57~

Bunasis white eyes went from wide to contrast in a matter of seconds. Her brows furrowed with utter confusion. "What? Why? Do you not want to help him out?" She wondered.

"Of course we do," The siblings replied simultaneously. "So why don't you—"

"Because it isn't your fate. So why should we tell you?" Hubris asked.

"Like wise the same way, we won't tell another god's your fate or destiny. This is the same way we can't tell you Sephtis fate or Destiny"

Bunasis bit her lip as she thought. She knew they were right. After all, if even though she didn't ask directly, they knew she was still asking for them to share Sephtis fate to her.

"Aren't the fate and destiny of one's life subjective?" Zahohr asked. It was as if the siblings had just realized that Zahohr was actually in the room.

"Yes, they are." Oona answered cautiously. They didn't know where Zahohr was going with his question, but in regardless of it, they were going to stick to their previous answer.

"Then there are multiple paths and also outcome at which Sephtis fate can go through," He explained.

The twins looked at themselves before looking back at Zahohr. "Yes, there are multiple parts that lead to Sephtis fate—"

"Then why don't you tell us?" Bunasis interjected. "Well, there are also multiple ways in which you can prevent his mate's death." Hobris suggested.

The seer siblings were really holding back and not planning to let it up soon.

"So you are prepared to let an innocent woman died, just because," Bunasis suggested coolly.

She had not planned to tug on Oona's heartstrings, but it was looking like it would be her last result.

"Think about it, Oona. You can save the woman by—"

"GET OUT" Hobris voice was cool, calm, and collected.

"What?" Bunasis asked, as she was taken aback by Hobris sudden remark.

"You heard me perfectly well. Get out!" He repeated, this time his voice came out heavier and much thicker.

Oona, his sister, began sobbing softly as tears gently rolled down her cheeks. "But Hobris, do you think Sephtis will really kill her?" She asked meekly as more tears flowed down her eyes. Her worry was for Sephtis, her dear friend, and his mate.

Mate was something that was supposed to bring peace and happiness to her heart of the troubled ones. But she didn't understand why Sephtis, whose heart was as dark as onyx, didn't want a mate to put him at ease. Didn't see that this was to lead to his very own happiness? She just didn't know what to make of it.

Hubris held his sister as he threw a hard glare at his two guests.

He knew, now that his sister was weeping her eyes out, she most definitely want to check even if it's simple information she could get that would not really equal to her giving out Sephtis for fate, she would do it.

"Just this is once," He accepted. Throwing yet another angry glare their way.

Bunasis sighed as remembered why she really visited here. As the previous time she came around, she was kicked out before she could even suggest some other way. She had had to come back with another goddess who could hopefully coax the siblings into helping or even giving a bit of their information.

She sighed, knowing she had already dug another wrench between them to further their dislike for her.

It took a while before Oona could finally calm down, as Hobris had to result to continuously patting her head till she did so. The two seer siblings picked up the crystal ball, ready to do as they asked.

"Since we don't have Sephtis Blood, It would take a while for us to get something from it"

"How long?" Bunasis asked, feeling skeptical. Still offended by her previous actions, Hobris raised his brows at her in a confused manner. Zahohr noticing the Seers change in mood towards his sister, he shook his head at her, signalling for her to stop and just go along with whatever it was they were doing.

She glanced at her brother and back to the seers, who stopped paying attention to her and were concentrating on what they had to do at the moment.

Oona's eyes glowed as she stared deep into the crystal ball. She looked like she was in a trance. "Sephtis is bound by his dark nature. Yet even a dark soul can still find happiness"

"And that is why mates were created." Hobris added. His eyes also glowing in bright colors. Soon, the crystal ball also began shining. Its brightness increasing at each second. Till, Bunasis and Zahohr had no other choice than to cover their eyes to prevent them from going blind.

"To change his fate, you must ensure they both cross paths physically. Their paths have already been crossed in the spiritual world, and that is why he dreams of his beloved," Hobris said.

The two siblings placed the ball back on the table as its light diminished.

Believing it was over, Zahohr and Bunasis lifted their head, but immediately put it back down as the siblings' eyes continued to glow.

"His mate," Oona interjected, "An Aswinesian woman has already touched his essence with hers, as they both share similar pain and suffering. She has made her presence indispensable to him in the spiritual world".

The god of nightmare and goddess of dreams exchanged a conscious glance.

"But what about the fact that he wants to kill her?" Bunasis asked, her head still flowed down in a bow.

"Yes, he will kill her…" Hobris answered, still in a daze. His response caught Bunasis by surprise that she jerked her head upward with wide eyes.

This act didn't go unpunished as she began bleeding from the bright light that emitted from the siblings. Zahohr, out of worry, threw his sister's head down and kept his hands at the back of her head to prevent her from doing it again.

"Keep it down," Zahohr warned in a hushed tone, and Bunasis nodded. But with blurry, blood-shot eyes, she continued to listen to the seers.

"No, he will not kill her…" Oona changed.

"Ye she will live…"

"No, she won't"

"Yes, she will live and love and have a baby…"

"No, she won't live and love and have a baby…"

"She will die before they meet…"

"No, she won't die before they meet"

As Oona and Hobris continued to contradict themselves. Bunasis wondered what they meant by their words.

Interrupting her thought, Zahohr suggested, "Maybe they are telling us the various paths of his fate and what would happen to them"

Bunasis thought about her brother's words for a while, as she thought it would make complete sense of what they were doing.

"She will die, but not by Sephtis…"

"She will not die, but saved by Sephtis…"

"Their life would be a happy one…"

"Their life will be filled with all kinds of sorrow, pain, and mistrust"

Bunasis soon began noticing a distinct pattern of their revelation. It was like, as one spoke in the positive light, the other would speak in a negative light.

"She might not end up with Sephtis after all. She might fall in love with another god"

Bunasis and Zahohr waited for Hobris to contradict Oona's previous statement, but they were met with silence, as the seer didn't give a contradiction.

"There are multiple fated paths for the ruler of the underworld -Daemarral- destiny to go," Hobris replied. His response was not off the one Bunasis and Zahohr planned.

"But these are the ones which have the most probable outcome of them all," He completed.

"Do what you deem fit with this information and let—" Oona began speaking but, suddenly, fell to silence.

Zahohr and Bunasis lifted their heads. Their eyes didn't meet any blinding lights as the eyes of the seers had turned back to normal like nothing had just previously happened.

"What do you mean by 'She might not end up with Sephtis after all? She might fall in love with another god?' Are they not mates? Aren't they supposed to be together? I understand the path of him wanting to kill her and her dying. But don't you think changing their mating bond is too much of a push?"

Oona and Hobris looked at her with a confused look, "We are not aware of that. We only deliver the fate how it is presented to us. We are not given an understanding of its translation. So don't ask us," Hobris answered in a disgusted tone. He was slowly beginning to get annoyed by their guest.

"And besides," Oona offered. "It is just one of the endless paths of his fate. That means there is a probability of him losing his mate to another, and there is also a probability of him not."

"Therefore, it ‌depends on which path Sephtis ultimately decides on following"

"So how are we sure of which right path he should take"

Oona, this time, furrowed her brows in confusion and a mix of annoyance. Did she not understand the fact they just told her another god's fate? Why was she pushing her luck?

As if sensing the annoyance that was not only brimming on Hobris, but also brimming with Oona too. Zahohr placed his hands over his sister's own, pulling her to her feet, and made haste to the door.

"Thank you for your time, Hobris, Oona. Your wisdom is duly noted," Zahohr praised.

Bunasis eyes flew wide open as she struggled against her brother's hard grip on her hand. "No, wait, I still have more questions. There are still some things that do not entirely make sense."
