Twilight in Obsidian

“Please take me with you,” the woman whispered. Her voice was dry and hoarse, her body trembled like a leaf on an unsettled wave. Was it because of the crime she had just committed, or was it because of the aura the man before her gave off? She must be sick, both in and out of the head. Everything in her said not to ask for help, or at least not to ask him for help, nevertheless, here she was bowing her head down before him. “Now, why would I do that?” His dark, airy voice filled her ears. His voice sent shivers down her spine, making her freeze in her spot. Her head sank to the floor, unmoving. “I do anything from cleaning to washing, and cooking,” she said, muttering her words, timidly. The man hunched down to her size and uttered, his breath tickling her neck. “Have you met me before?” “No, but I can—” She began to say, as if he were contemplating her request but was quickly interrupted. “Don't be so quick to sell yourself to death.” Passing through her, he left her to crumble on the ground. °∆° "Did you think I would let you go after I found you? Do you know how long I have waited for this moment?” His voice deepened with each word that fell off his lips. The woman stepped back, not wanting to get close to this terrifying man. “I am being truthful, Your Highness. I don't know you, Your Majesty, our families haven't met for any reason. So please let me go,” she whispered. Her body touched the wall. Now she was stuck between the wall and the terrifying man. “Please, My Lord, I don't know what you are talking about,” She whimpered. He placed his strong hands on her hip, giving it a light squeeze as he pulled her closer to his chest. He whispered into her ears, “I missed you so much, it's been a long while, My love” He placed his head on hers °∆° R18 PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BOOK COVER ISN'T MINE, IT WAS FOUND AND REDESIGNED BY ME. ~Chapter 53~

At this point, she was getting exhausted by the entire scenario. And all she wanted at the moment was to figure things out individually. Despite that, she didn't know who to start with, Diysus? Sephtis or Astus?

No Astus problem, had next to nothing to do with her. There was no dream or vision like dream involved. Therefore, it would be much more convenient for him to go see the seer siblings than force her to do jobs that weren't hers.

But knowing Astus, the supreme ruler of the immortals, would he listen? Skipping to Sephtis. The lord of the underworld was an entire concern of his own.

He didn't even want to see her if she was only coming to 'force' him to accept his mate. But what else could she do? His major issue was the fact that he wanted her dead even before she was found.

Why?

All because he believed she was not good enough for him and the land of Daemarral was not fertile enough to inhabit a family. Bunasis knew, if she had the gall, she would kick Sephtis in the nuts and have him impotent.

"Oh Sephtis," She sighed his name, which easily caught her brother's ears.

"And what is the problem with Sephtis?"

"Did you know you Sephtis is searching for his mate?" She asked with a crooked brow. Zahohr looked at her with a perplexed face. "And that is a problem because?"

"Because he is not looking for her to love her, but he is looking for her to kill her!!" She exasperated.

"You are exaggerating," Zahohr commented, brushing off his sister like she was talking nonsense.

But she wasn't, though. And the serious, and deadpanned look she had on her face showed how serious and conflicting the entire issue was to her. "And why does he want to kill her?" The god of nightmare asked, finally taking the situation serious.

"He says he believes that his her is too darkened to shine a light in them and also Sephtis thinks his Domain, Daemarral, is no place to grow a family with a woman as pure as his mate"

"Hamm, I never thought Sephtis was self-conscious about Daemarral… This is unpleasant news to me," Zahohr replied, as he thought through this mind.

"Of course it is… that place is a dry land that has no time difference or seasoned difference. It is like an entirely new world on its own," She muttered, taking a sip of the nectar.

But Zahohr couldn't imagine how the underworld could be so dark and eerie that it would make Sephtis want to kill his mate just because it was not bright and beautiful.

The god of nightmare was no saint, though, as it had never mentally occurred to him to pay Sephtis a visit in Daemarral. After all, the other gods and goddesses alike can't even bear to see him without a scarf around his eyes because of how it looked.

"So, what do you propose to do?" Zahohr asked, with interested eyes. Maybe it was because he wanted to know Sephtis more or something, but he felt a needing interest to give a hand to Sephtis any which way he could.

"I really don't know. He complains about the dreams. It seems like he is getting them frequently now—"

"So why don't you go see him?" Bunasis furrowed her white eyes before replying, "Well, it simply because he would have the same round about conversation with me trying to convince him and him being in complete denial and also rejecting every and any advice I have for him. It really is childish," She said, placing her head on her brother's legs while using her nails to drum lightly on the table.

She took in a deep breath and released it before continuing, "Then we have Diysus, the most complicated one of them all."

"Diysus? Diysus has a mate?" Zahohr chimed in. Bunasis lifted her head as she stared at her brother with a surprised look.

"What? Why are you staring at me like that?"

"What do you mean by 'he has a mate?' of course he has a mate, weren't you at the God's meeting," She replied, gazing intently at him with an astonished look.

Zahohr paused for a moment as if he was trying to recollect the past events that had being happening. When it finally clicked. His eyes widened at his new-found knowledge, "Were you able to find out about our memories?" He quizzed, shifting the question to a whole new direction from the last.

"Of course not" She replied with a roll of her eyes, "The only lead I have is the source for how we found out in the first place"

"Diysus mate" She nodded. She pulled away from her brother as she took hold of her quill and Vellum. Zahohr moved closer to his sister to see what she was writing out.

On the vellum, Bunasis began sketching all she knew about Diysus and his mate. It wasn't much, but it was something for her to start with. She carefully placed the quill back on the Quill horn as she slid the Vellum to her brother.

Zahohr lifted the vellum as his red eyes read through it. "Is this real?" He inquired, and she nodded in response.

"They were even married?!" She nodded again as she opened her mouth to explain, "Diysus even stated that she had the Luminara's Heart on her finger"

Zahohr's eyes fell wide open in disbelief, his red pupils dilating as he stared at his sister. His mouth fell opened, forming a rounded shape, though his mouth was opened, no words came from it.

"Oh? You seemed surprised at that?" She asked, and he nodded, his face still tensed from the shock.

"Apparently she also fought in the S. A. D. war alongside us" Zahohr just stared at his sister with an unreadable expression. He already‌ exhausted all the shock he had in him to be surprised again.

But, regardless, he had more questions for his sister. "I would understand if you say we forgot about her after the war, but what about during and before the war?"

"I mean, before when everything was still calm and peaceful, before when Qhemis would throw continuous parties every blessed day—"

"Qhemis still does that" she interrupted her brother just to add that point, "That is beside the point, and you know!!" he exclaimed.

"I know, I know," Bunasis agreed with him. After all, he was indeed correct about it.

"Like I was saying, didn't she have other fellow goddess as friends?" He questioned his, glancing back at the vellum on the table.

"I have no clue. I don't even know what she looks or looked like."

Zahohr sighed as he was now finally understanding his sister's stress. "And Diysus doesn't remember?"

"I don't know" She shrugged, he didn't say.

Zahohr hummed as he poured himself a full chalice of golden nectar and gulped it down with no hesitation. "This is a lot more serious than I thought"

Bunasis chuckled as she shook the carafe to know if there was still more golden nectar. There was, but it could barely fill her chalice.

"I believe we will need more nectar"

Looking up to his sister, he nodded in agreement, "I believe so too" She stretched her hands reaching for a little golden bell. She flicked it once, letting it ring out a singular ding sound.

It didn't take a minute before a female serf dress in a black and blue dress appeared by the door.

"The carafe will need a re-fill at the moment," Bunasis informed, as she tapped lightly against the carafe.

The serf nodded as she motioned towards them. Picking the tray and carafe, she stopped mid-way once Zahohr had placed his hands above hers with a light touch.

"And the crackers too" The female serf nodded and decide to take the entire tray and refill it altogether. With her back, she pushed the door and walked away to do her duties.

"First things first—" He started once the serf had left. Bunasis raised her hands to stop his words.

"Oh? Do you think I am done with the brothers?" Zahohr's brows folded as he bent his head with a questioning look pasted on his face.

"Astus? What happened to him?"

"Oh nothing, much," she said like it wasn't a pressing matter, "It's just that he suddenly says I should find his mate for him"

"Find? How? Why?"

"Beats me. He feels that since his brother's mates are coming to light, then there should be at least news about his"

"And did you tell him that your powers only work when there is a dream present or a vision like a dream"

"I did" Bunasis nodded, confirming his question. "So, what did he say?"

"He said, and I quote, 'I am sure you will figure something out' Figure something out! How am I to do that, exactly?" She asked, throwing the question to her brother, who also seemed as clueless as she was.
