Twilight in Obsidian

“Please take me with you,” the woman whispered. Her voice was dry and hoarse, her body trembled like a leaf on an unsettled wave. Was it because of the crime she had just committed, or was it because of the aura the man before her gave off? She must be sick, both in and out of the head. Everything in her said not to ask for help, or at least not to ask him for help, nevertheless, here she was bowing her head down before him. “Now, why would I do that?” His dark, airy voice filled her ears. His voice sent shivers down her spine, making her freeze in her spot. Her head sank to the floor, unmoving. “I do anything from cleaning to washing, and cooking,” she said, muttering her words, timidly. The man hunched down to her size and uttered, his breath tickling her neck. “Have you met me before?” “No, but I can—” She began to say, as if he were contemplating her request but was quickly interrupted. “Don't be so quick to sell yourself to death.” Passing through her, he left her to crumble on the ground. °∆° "Did you think I would let you go after I found you? Do you know how long I have waited for this moment?” His voice deepened with each word that fell off his lips. The woman stepped back, not wanting to get close to this terrifying man. “I am being truthful, Your Highness. I don't know you, Your Majesty, our families haven't met for any reason. So please let me go,” she whispered. Her body touched the wall. Now she was stuck between the wall and the terrifying man. “Please, My Lord, I don't know what you are talking about,” She whimpered. He placed his strong hands on her hip, giving it a light squeeze as he pulled her closer to his chest. He whispered into her ears, “I missed you so much, it's been a long while, My love” He placed his head on hers °∆° R18 PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BOOK COVER ISN'T MINE, IT WAS FOUND AND REDESIGNED BY ME. Chapter 55-

Hincour Peak hovers majestically above the clouds. The Hincour Peak gives a shine of a beautiful glow because of the radiant sun that reflects on it during the day. Surrounding the Hincour Peak is a ring of a feathery veil of mist like clouds, which forms a natural.

Right underneath it is a dense and ancient forest. The forest had the mix of thick forest pine and cedar thrive. These ancient trees are gigantic as thick vines wrapped around its heavy trunks. The forest 'Hincour Forest' had mythical creatures both cursed and blessed. There are even some that were the favorite pets of the high gods.

Though the trees were ancient, when the sun reflected on their leave, it cast a soft greenish light against it.

It was really a majestic sight to behold.

Crystal-clear streams and waterfalls cascade down the mountainside, their waters imbued with a copious amount of entropy, providing sustenance to the creature and plants.

While ascending, it gave a pathway to a rocky and crags steep. Here the air grows thinner and cooler. The cliffs, also rugged, had hidden caves and caverns. Some of which are used as prison liars for the mountains for the denizens.

Near the very top of the Hincour peak, the mountain changes its seasons from the almost dry lands beneath it to a more tropical plateau and terraces. The terraces are filled with magnificent gardens, where exotic flowers, blooms and wild fruits grow. The air is very humid and homely. It is cool and crisp, filling with the scent of alpine blossoms.

Finally, at the very top of The Hincour Peak. The mountains level's off into a flat expanse where the royal palace of the higher gods stood. Constructed from shining silver marble balls and precious crystals, the magnificent palace shined like the golden sun. Its towering arches and golden domes are clearly seen from hundreds of miles away. Within the palace, grand halls and opulent chambers, which have windows, high and arched, as can see across the horizon.

The window sight was beautiful to behold on its own. Inside, the hallways are beautifully decorated with irreplaceable treasures and artifact. The voices of the palace guards and serfs echo through the corridors.

In the throne room, Astus reluctantly sat on his radiant throne, with his legs crossed, as he begrudgingly listened to the news his retainer had brought. But in all truthfulness, the God was not listening. His attention would always drift off whenever it could, and he would never try to change or bring himself back to reality.

After all, what he was thinking about was his beautiful mate.

Hecca.

Astus had truthfully within himself believed that he had gotten over the pain of losing Hecca. But now his two brothers -Diysus and Sephtis, had both made him realize just how bad he missed when they both suddenly had dreams of their mates.

Why?

Why did he have to lose his mate even before they had time to grow together? He sighed pitifully at himself as he sunk deeper into his throne.

He missed his mate. Astus was riddled with jealous for his brothers. He was the first to get a mate, and he relished in that joy, but he was also the first to lose his. And just any loss, it was such an enormous loss that her body hadn't being found till date.

But there was one thought that continuously rung in his mind.

Could Higher Gods die?

He didn't think so. After all, since the start of time, there had not being a single higher god that had died, maybe demigods, but definitely not higher gods. So the question of where Hecca was lingered in his mind, as he didn't know what to do or even where to search for her.

He only concluded that she was dead after the war was over, and she wasn't found again. Astus had gone into a severe depression, and his anger spiraled as time went on.

It had taken him quite a while to cool down and come to terms with her death, and this only happened because his fellow higher gads had voiced their annoyance at him, telling him to put himself together as he is the supreme ruler of Alverton.

This only made him quiet, not that he had forgotten about it. That was why the word 'mate' was unceremoniously made a taboo to say around him. But now there was nothing he could actively do when two of his fellow gods, and not just any two fellow gods, his own brothers, were having a mate.

Well, the fact they haven't found them, but still. It was there, and it was a given. If Astus was going to be very honest with himself. He knew from his heart of heart he wasn't happy at the fact that his brothers were getting mate. Even Sephtis was unhappy that he was having his. That was why he believed his jealous was valid.

Astus shook his head at the thought. "Is something not to your liking, My lord?" The Retainer asked. He had thought that when Astus shook his head, he was making a disagreement with whatever he had said.

But Astus wasn't even paying attention. He had also forgotten the principal topic of the meeting.

Astus lifted his golden eyes to the retainer. He shook his head, "No. It is nothing. Continue," He dismissed absent-mindedly

The subject nodded as he continued with his rambling. Astus shifted himself to another position as he drifted back to his thoughts.

Unfortunately for him, his retainer spoke again, pulling him away from his desired thoughts process. But this time, rather than the previous calm stare he was given before, Astus sent a glare his way, which was more than enough to petrify the retainer.

The retainer bowed to a ninety degree position as he spoke, "That would conclude the information update"

Astus let a sigh of relief, as now he would finally be cleared and left in peace with his thought.

"That is good. I commend you for your giving effort to the news update," he praised.

"No, it was nothing, Sire," He answered, still maintaining his pose. The god signalled for one of the standing guards, "Escort him as his leaves Hincour" he ordered.

He stood from his throne as he walked towards the retainer, placing a hand on his shoulders. This sudden act caused the retainer to flinch under his touch. But Astus ignored it. He wanted to go back to his fleeting thoughts and didn't want anything keeping him from it.

"I hope to hear more from you. You can take your leave."

"Yes, of course My Lord"

Finally left to himself, Astus too left the throne room to a place he hadn't visited for a while.

Hecca's room.

The two guards in the station in her room looked surprised at the fact the Astus had come by. He had rarely passed here after the other gods had abolished him for his attitude after her death.

"In your divine light, I greet you, My lord," They both greeted simultaneously falling to their knees

Astus trailed his eyes at him. He had expected them to be lazy at their duties, since they weren't actively guarding anything. But here they stood upright and focus.

"Rise to your feet. Your greeting has being acknowledged," he responded. They obeyed his command and rose to their feet, waiting for the next command.

Astus stretched his hands towards them, and uttered a single word, "Keys"

And without hesitation, the guard with the key immediately produced it and place it on his palms. Sliding the keys into the hole, the door easily unlocked. He pushed it open without hesitation.

He stopped himself before he could enter the room to issue a command, "Let no one disturb my peace. If anyone asks, say I am not available" Not waiting for a reply, he stepped into the room and slammed the door shut.

Hincour Peak-This is a floating mountain meant only for the higher gods. But though it is only meant for the higher gods, not all of them live there.
