Twilight in Obsidian

“Please take me with you,” the woman whispered. Her voice was dry and hoarse, her body trembled like a leaf on an unsettled wave. Was it because of the crime she had just committed, or was it because of the aura the man before her gave off? She must be sick, both in and out of the head. Everything in her said not to ask for help, or at least not to ask him for help, nevertheless, here she was bowing her head down before him. “Now, why would I do that?” His dark, airy voice filled her ears. His voice sent shivers down her spine, making her freeze in her spot. Her head sank to the floor, unmoving. “I do anything from cleaning to washing, and cooking,” she said, muttering her words, timidly. The man hunched down to her size and uttered, his breath tickling her neck. “Have you met me before?” “No, but I can—” She began to say, as if he were contemplating her request but was quickly interrupted. “Don't be so quick to sell yourself to death.” Passing through her, he left her to crumble on the ground. °∆° "Did you think I would let you go after I found you? Do you know how long I have waited for this moment?” His voice deepened with each word that fell off his lips. The woman stepped back, not wanting to get close to this terrifying man. “I am being truthful, Your Highness. I don't know you, Your Majesty, our families haven't met for any reason. So please let me go,” she whispered. Her body touched the wall. Now she was stuck between the wall and the terrifying man. “Please, My Lord, I don't know what you are talking about,” She whimpered. He placed his strong hands on her hip, giving it a light squeeze as he pulled her closer to his chest. He whispered into her ears, “I missed you so much, it's been a long while, My love” He placed his head on hers °∆° R18 PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BOOK COVER ISN'T MINE, IT WAS FOUND AND REDESIGNED BY ME. Life in Rutherford's House

Editing in Progress…

~Chapter 25~

"Greetings to the House of Rutherford, I am Sereia Eastwood."

The Rutherford family stared at her like she was some sort of oddity. Did she know Yeona? How? Where did they meet?

"How do you know Yeona? I know my daughter does not like attending social gatherings. I mean, I even have to force her to attend sometimes," Lady Evangeline asked. Her words earned a nasty and unladylike snort from Yeona.

Sereia's eyes squinted as she pinched Yeona after her reaction.

"How do I know Yen? Hmm, how do I explain it? We are related?." She replied thoughtfully. "Yes, that is the word. We are related." She confirmed, squeezing Yen's arm.

"I am not your daughter. We don't go by the same last name," Yen replied dryly.

There was an awkward silence. Lord Whyte chuckled before waving his hands dismissively at the girl's antics.

It was as though, he was already used to the girl's antics. This was the same thing they both did yesterday when he had asked Yeona about her family.

It seemed that his daughter had made a friend that would match her energy and her sharp remarks.

"It is alright, let the girls be," He said with a calming smile.

Lord Harris cleared his throat as he ushered them to the dinner table. "Please we have prepared a light meal for your visit, maybe we could talk over some things" He stated.

It looked disgusting and pathetic from Yeona's point of view. Perhaps it was because, when her parents were alive, people would always visit for business offers and her father had the choice to decide if they were worth his attention or not.

But here was Lord Harris begging for a cup of tea to discuss his failed and corrupt business. This would probably be the only time he would have the chance to talk to Lord Whyte. So it was understandable.

Pathetic and Pitiful.

But still understandable. After all, he was just a copy of her father. And copies will never amount to the real thing.

"Ah! I apologize, but I didn't come here to visit, I just came to drop my daughter and I would be on my way".

"Oh? I had thought that-" Lord Harris began to say but was interrupted by his wife.

"What about your wife? I thought she would have followed you?" She asked sweetly. "I mean, it is a wife's duty to follow her husband to his visit" she added, placing her hands on his arm and smiling at him.

Sereia and Yeona had this astonished look on their faces, Lord Whyte had a look of visible surprise and a slight hint of irritation. Which he didn't act on.

He politely pulled her hands away from him as he took to steps back, and away from her.

"She got dropped off on our way here as she had a tea party to attend" He gave her a closed-eyed smile as he slowly wiped where she touched him with a napkin.

"If that would be all, I would be on my way, I don't think Lord Ducan would be pleased if I were to arrive late. We both know how he can get" Lord Whyte had a very calming look on his face.

Sereia placed her hands over her mouth as she pouted on it, "Ha? Dad is annoyed that she touched him" She whispered to Yen.

"Why?"

"Oh~ It is simply because he hates when people touch him without his permission" she shrugged.

But as Yeona was about to respond, Lord Harris spoke out. "Just a few minutes, I would like to show you-"

Lord Whyte raised his hands to stop him from continuing, "Like I said Sir Harris, I didn't plan to stay, and it was my daughter who sent the letter to your house. If you want to converse with me, do the same and send a letter my way and I will put you on the schedule" He said turning to his daughter as he no longer wanted to stay in this house.

"Take care, and I will be back later tomorrow to pick you up," He said kissing her forehead, and to Yeona's utter surprise Sereia permitted it.

'I thought she hated her father?' She thought to herself.

"Alright. Take care" She responded. Lord Whyte waved at the family as he left for the door. Yeona looked in his direction and saw two guards waiting for him, she stared till she couldn't see him anymore.

"Well that was interesting wasn't it?" Sereia asked after the room remained silent even after her father had gone.

"Yes, It was," Yen said with a tease.

"Hello Lady Sereia" Lyra greeted with all the sweetness and cuteness she could offer. Freya who was behind her sister also courtesies.

'If Big-sister Yen can befriend her then she could do it also' Was the thought that ran through Lyra's head. But Yeona could see it in her eyes.

"Hello, How are you girls doing?" She asked giving them a smile of her own.

"We are fine, thank you very much for asking."

"If you don't mind, would you like to have tea with us?"

Sereia stared at them for some seconds, as she wondered how to answer the girls.

"Hmm, what do I do? I came to see Yeona and didn't come to see you. I didn't even know about you before I came here. Therefore why should I have tea with someone I don't know first, and why should I leave the person I came for, to yet again have tea with someone I do not know? Don't you agree?" She said, putting the twins in a spot.

"Well — er We" Freya stuttered as she looked confused as to how it all played out.

"And don't you think you were rude to ask me? Did you want me to leave your sister and have tea with you? Did you want to— "

"That will be enough to know Miss Sereia, they are just kids barely even mature. So spare their ignorance" Lady Evangeline said, standing in front of her girls.

Sereia moved her sights from the twins to the mother, "Yes, you are right, it isn't their fault, but the mother's fault. But know that if they were to try this in the higher class event, then it won't fare well for you, as they do not do well with kids".

"Just a little warning since Yeona is my best friend and do not want her sweet little sisters to be mocked and bullied and laughed at when they reach the high society. I am sure it would make her sad" she said, throwing her arm over Yen's shoulder as she pulled her closer to herself.

"They are not my sisters and I couldn't care the very least, if other noble women were to surround them and point their fingers mockingly at them" She replied looking at them as she gave a very vivid description.

"ACK! You are the worst. You're a terrible sister, aren't you?" She said, smiling at her friend.

"~Sigh let's go upstairs, we have a lot to talk about, and I do mean a lot" Yen informed, as her voice turned serious.

"Alright. But what about the food? And I also brought some things for you and—"

"Marina and York would bring them in later. Marina, please bring the meals for us, up my room"

"Yes My lady" Marina replied with a bow as she left to do what she was told.

"Don't you dare!" Lord Harris yelled out his order. The rate at which he had been yelling and ordering around since the previous day was very alarming. At this point, he probably was going to lose his voice.

"I was ordered to do so, and I will do as I was ordered" Marina replied calmly, not flinching from the man.

"Well, I ordered you not to serve her"

"I wonder what Lady Sereia would say to her parents when she gets home, that the house she visited was too poor to even give her a cup of tea" Marina taunted.

Her statement made the family choke on their saliva.

"What are you waiting for? Go serve them!!" Lady Evangeline reprimanded the maid, who in turn bowed and left the room.

"Damn it, Damn it all to Daemarral!" Lord Harris yelled. "Can you believe that bastard, he dared to call me sir? SIR?! How dare he!! Just because he has a few more Uolas than me, he dared to look down at me and address me as SIR?!"

"He was also going to visit Lord Ducan. I am they are going to talk business, those greedy bastards dare look down at me!!" He shouted. Pausing on his words, his angry eyes turned to his wife.

"And you!" He pointed. "What was the stupid, disgusting stunt you pulled back there" he asked.

"I-I was just trying to get connections too, from his wife" she spoke calmly, trying not to elevate her husband's anger.

"And that's why, you had to touch him?!" He questioned angrily.

Wanting to divert his anger away from her, she said, "This is all Yeona's fault"

"Yes! It is" Lyra added in support of her mother.

"If she had told us that she was friends with their daughter none of this would have happened in the first place," she said angrily.

'Yes, Yes, This was all Yeona's fault, if she had warned me and prepared me for this visit, I wouldn't have been humiliated' he thought. He squeezed his hands into a fist as he glared up the stairs.

"I will deal with her once Eastwood leaves" He declared.

🌗

"Call me crazy, but I saw something strange on my back home from your manor yesterday," Yeona said, locking the door after Marina had placed their snacks. She pressed her back heavily against it.

"Will, you are already crazy, so it is not a surprise" Sereia teased.

Smacking her leg, "I am serious" Yen wined her response.

"Okay, Okay, fine. Tell me what happened?"

"I saw red eyes with a shadowy look"
