Twilight in Obsidian

“Please take me with you,” the woman whispered. Her voice was dry and hoarse, her body trembled like a leaf on an unsettled wave. Was it because of the crime she had just committed, or was it because of the aura the man before her gave off? She must be sick, both in and out of the head. Everything in her said not to ask for help, or at least not to ask him for help, nevertheless, here she was bowing her head down before him. “Now, why would I do that?” His dark, airy voice filled her ears. His voice sent shivers down her spine, making her freeze in her spot. Her head sank to the floor, unmoving. “I do anything from cleaning to washing, and cooking,” she said, muttering her words, timidly. The man hunched down to her size and uttered, his breath tickling her neck. “Have you met me before?” “No, but I can—” She began to say, as if he were contemplating her request but was quickly interrupted. “Don't be so quick to sell yourself to death.” Passing through her, he left her to crumble on the ground. °∆° "Did you think I would let you go after I found you? Do you know how long I have waited for this moment?” His voice deepened with each word that fell off his lips. The woman stepped back, not wanting to get close to this terrifying man. “I am being truthful, Your Highness. I don't know you, Your Majesty, our families haven't met for any reason. So please let me go,” she whispered. Her body touched the wall. Now she was stuck between the wall and the terrifying man. “Please, My Lord, I don't know what you are talking about,” She whimpered. He placed his strong hands on her hip, giving it a light squeeze as he pulled her closer to his chest. He whispered into her ears, “I missed you so much, it's been a long while, My love” He placed his head on hers °∆° R18 PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BOOK COVER ISN'T MINE, IT WAS FOUND AND REDESIGNED BY ME. Diysus wakes up

~Chapter 40~

"Do not have a troubled heart, I assure you, she lives" Diysus's eyes widened with shock and disbelief but Bunasis only nodded with a smile. "You only need to locate her. But I tell you, she is back"

"How are you sure?" Sephtis interjected, "Don't give him false hope, she was a demigoddess like you said. In case you have forgotten, demigods and goddesses do not come back to life"

"Except if they are mates to a god, I tell you. They will"

In her tone and choice of words, Bunasis carried an air of confidence that the men had to believe her, and if they didn't believe her, they had dared not show it.

"I interpret dreams and give peaceful sleep. I do not fail in what I do"

"We are glad" Sephtis response seemed more or less like a backhanded insult, but regardless, Bunasis said nothing as she turned to Diysus.

"Rest, she will be back to you, very soon"

The echoing clatter of the horse-drawn carriage reverberated through the air. Its rhythmic cadence blended with the whispers of the wind as it traveled the cobblestone road.

The carriage was study but yet had an elegant feel to it. It was beautifully structured from fine wood and smooth iron. Just at the overhead top was a simple, yet intricate carving of an owner.

-Eastwood-

In the carriage, Lady Samara and Lady Gwen sat with grace, their posture regal and their demeanor poised. Just seeing them alone can send waves of low self-confidence to other noble ladies.

Clad with fine silks and velvets, they sat deep within their thoughts. In their eyes portrayed different thoughts.

Lady Gwen's eyes gleamed with worry as she thought back to the early day when she woke up in fright for her daughter. She wanted to see her daughter immediately, only to be at ease that her safety hadn't been compromised yet.

Meanwhile, Lady Samara's thoughts were only focused on the hidden daughter Claire had. 'Was she as strong as her mother?' 'Was she as daring as her beauty?' she wanted to know all these.

"I don't mind teaching her entropy sorcery" Lady Samara calmly stated her intentions to her company.

Lady Gwen lifted her head to stare back at her, "Teach?"

Nodding her head in affirmation, she continued, "Yes actually" She released her crossed legs and alternated it to another.

"Since you mentioned she has not yet awoken her sorcery, I merely deemed I could offer my teachings to her"

Lady Gwen squinted her eyes to look back at the lady sitting just across from her space, "You just want a reason to be close to Claire"

Lady Samara rolled her shoulders not aiming to deny the facts, "Say what you wish, but you can, I know very well, that I am the best to teach her"

Lady Gwen bit her tongue and gave no reply. It was true Lady Samara was exponentially skilled with entropy as she was the Magistra for Sorcery back in Aswines.

Lady Gwen released a breath as she nodded, "Alright but don't overpush the girl, she barely knows about us" she permitted.

Lady Samara had a blissful smile on her relaxed face.

She turned to Lady Gwen and said, "I assure you, I will take care of her as if she were my daughter." Lady Gwen only rolled her eyes, "That won't be necessary, as her mother is and will always be Claire Chamberlain".

But the other lady took no heed to her statement, and she continued. Lady Samara then added, "I'll make sure to start with the basics and build from there. She'll have a strong foundation before we move on to anything more advanced."

"You don't even know what type of sorcery she has"

"You don't know?"

"Pray tell, what aspect that she hasn't awoken her sorcery did you fail to grasp?"

"Verily, this would be a problem for us"

"Ah it appears this predicament is solely for you" Lady Gwen sharply declined, and then a playful loose smile appeared on her face once she noticed Samara's irritated complexion

Lady Samara raised her brows at her with a questioning look, "What do you mean by that?" she, irritation evident in her voice.

Lady Gwen gladly played a mocking smile on her face, "Were you not the one who claimed she wished to personally teach the child? Therefore, How dare I intrude?" she teased.

"You—" Lady Samara began to argue, but was cut short once the carriage had come down to a stop.

"I guess it's time to see the girl you have been thinking about" She smiled as the carriage door opened. She sent the footman a smile, before taking his hands into hers as she stepped down.

Lady Samara followed suit.

Once she was on the stoned floor, her face fell into an utter expression of shock mixed with an overwhelming amount of disgust.

"Are you sure we came to the right house?"

"I am wondering the same things" Lady Gwen replied, looking at the edges of the wall.

It was growing green moss, and it had ants matching up and down from it. The grasses were barely cut as they were creeping up to their knees.

Snapping her fingers with the act to call the footman. He came just immediately as she called.

"I said I wanted to go to Lady Chamberlain Manor, right?"

"Yes, My Lady"

"And where are we exactly?"

The innocent footman looked just as confused as they were. His hands nervously went to the straps of his suspenders as he slightly tugged on them. "We are at the Chamberlain's house"

Raising her brows, she looked back at her friend, who still had a visibly perplexed look on her face.

"Alright, then, Take me to where my daughter is" She ordered, therefore trying to make another effort to leave the place. She still didn't want to believe that this was the place her friend called home.

"My Lady, this is the location I brought the lord and the little madam to the previous day"

Lady Samara's eyes widened, while Lady Gwen's eyes did the exact opposite. She calmly squeezed her eyes shut, trying to her raging nerves.

"Samara, tell me, If I walk in there with all the rage in me and freeze the hearts of the Rutherfords, do you think the higher Gods would be peeved?"

As the footman observed Lady Samara's seemingly serene demeanor, a chill ran down his spine. Little did he know that beneath her composed exterior, she was struggling to keep her spiraling nerves at bay. With Claire absent, Lady Samara felt confused and uncertain about how to handle the icy temperament of Lady Gwen. Despite her best efforts to remain calm and collected, she couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in the pit of her stomach.

Lady Gwen was as unpredictable as Claire, and that was why it made sense as to how it was only Claire who could calm her down.

"They most likely would overlook it, as they don't interfere with other humans that aren't Aswines. But—"

"But I highly doubt that Emperor Orion will not like the sound of that" She cautioned.

"Verily, you are right. But still look at the condition they left Claire and Lint's home" Her voice was laced with evident annoyance.

"Let's just go in and see who we came for" Lady Samara stated with a smile, as she linked her arms around Lady Gwen.

She sighed and gave a curt nod. She turned her head back to the footman, "Get the carriage ready, I am not spending unnecessary seconds in this filthy place"

"As you wish my lady" The footman placed his hand across his chest with a bow.

With linked arms, the two women walked towards the house.

"They don't have any guard or knight to guide us in," Lady Samara said absently. Whilst Lady Gwen was fighting the urge to kill those present in the house.

"They have soiled the Chamberlain's name" She passively informed. Lady Samara sighed, not wanting to say anything that would force a bad reaction from Lady Gwen.

Marina busied herself whilst she washed the dishes. She was so distracted by what she was doing that didn't notice Sir York speaking to her.

"M-miss Ma-Ma-rina?" he stammered while calling for her.

Lifting her head from the dishes, she turned her head but not her full body, just for a few seconds, indicating he had her attention, "Lady Evangeline needs her morning tea"

Marina sighed with a disgusted eye roll, "I had previously informed her that it was already finished. I wasn't given any Uolas to buy some more. Therefore, where does she expect me to get them from?" She replied, pausing on her dishes before continuing again.

"No Uola, No herbal tea"

Sir York sighed reluctantly as he made his way to inform the lady of the house. Marina continued her dishes, but she suddenly stopped once she felt an ominous and overwhelming amount of entropy sorcery let loose into the air.

"Someone is here… Someone strong"
