Twilight in Obsidian

“Please take me with you,” the woman whispered. Her voice was dry and hoarse, her body trembled like a leaf on an unsettled wave. Was it because of the crime she had just committed, or was it because of the aura the man before her gave off? She must be sick, both in and out of the head. Everything in her said not to ask for help, or at least not to ask him for help, nevertheless, here she was bowing her head down before him. “Now, why would I do that?” His dark, airy voice filled her ears. His voice sent shivers down her spine, making her freeze in her spot. Her head sank to the floor, unmoving. “I do anything from cleaning to washing, and cooking,” she said, muttering her words, timidly. The man hunched down to her size and uttered, his breath tickling her neck. “Have you met me before?” “No, but I can—” She began to say, as if he were contemplating her request but was quickly interrupted. “Don't be so quick to sell yourself to death.” Passing through her, he left her to crumble on the ground. °∆° "Did you think I would let you go after I found you? Do you know how long I have waited for this moment?” His voice deepened with each word that fell off his lips. The woman stepped back, not wanting to get close to this terrifying man. “I am being truthful, Your Highness. I don't know you, Your Majesty, our families haven't met for any reason. So please let me go,” she whispered. Her body touched the wall. Now she was stuck between the wall and the terrifying man. “Please, My Lord, I don't know what you are talking about,” She whimpered. He placed his strong hands on her hip, giving it a light squeeze as he pulled her closer to his chest. He whispered into her ears, “I missed you so much, it's been a long while, My love” He placed his head on hers °∆° R18 PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BOOK COVER ISN'T MINE, IT WAS FOUND AND REDESIGNED BY ME. ~Chapter 15~

SEPHTIS SAT ON HIS THRONE, reading a book. The book was about fated mates. It was clear the woman of his frequent dreams was his mate.

First, he had heard of, so he was going to every book he could find in his library.

The sound of footsteps alerted him that someone was coming over.

"Sire" A man greeted Sephtis, his head bowed at a ninety-degree angle.

"What do you need, Dyce?" Sephtis said. He sat cross-legged, leaning towards the edge of the throne.

He placed the book on his high knee to give attention to the man present.

"News has reached Daemarral" He stated, Sephtis eyes furrowed in suspicion. He nudged his head for him to continue.

"It says the supreme gods want to hold a divine meeting"

"Because of Jinx?"

"H-how did you know?" Dyce questioned, surprised that Jinx was the first thought that came to his mind.

"Don't look at me with those eyes, I already knew that, Astus and Diysus told me about it." He said, standing up from the throne and going down the stairs.

Dyce gave way for him as he continued the conversation. "Yes, the Divine meeting is about Jinx, it was stated in the Vice call that someone from Voudia had released them"

"I told Diysus not to spread such baseless rumors" The god sighed. They had gotten outside the throne room. Sephtis stood by while a female serf pulled a flowing white toga and draped it around his torso. His overall clothing was a combination of a high-collared black and tan robe with gold trim, a white toga, and black-clothed leather boots.

"Baseless rumors?" Dyce asked, looking confused as they both continued their way out the gates of Daemarral.

Sephtis threw his head backward and stared at the dark sky with no clouds. It was uncertain whether it was day or night, as it consistently presented a dark cloud. He remembered something, but it was a part of his many dreams.

Daemarral was always bright and beautiful when she was around. The rivers had fish, marigold fields were large and beautiful.

He kept his eyes on the sky as he spoke to his right-hand man, "Dyce, what would you think if I told you that Demurral sky was clear, and it grew Marigold and Silk floss?"

"I would never have believed" he responded, looking forward and around the area. "But I believe you saw it in your dream"

"She brought light to Daemarral, it was unbelievably surreal" He muttered under his breath.

The men stood in silence, as if they were mourning the death of a loved one.

Dyce cleared his throat and turned his attention to the god, who was still in a daydream.

"Sire, are you going to Alverton?" he questioned. Sephtis breathed out, rubbing his temple.

"No not really. I am going to Shidal".

"Why?" Dyce didn't understand why he wanted to go to Shidal. It was very important to the higher gods and goddesses to attend this Divine meeting. So why wasn't he going?

Dyce's eyes suddenly widened, "Did something critical happen again? Is that why you are going not going to Alverton?" he threw many questions at him.

"Where are you going? Let me be of help" he offered.

"I already said where I was heading to" Sephtis signed dryly. This was one problem with Dyce, once eager he would forget every previous thing said, and it would have to be repeated.

"Yes that is right" Dyce whispered rubbing on his beards. "But still, why are you going to Shidal?"

"I need to see the fates, only them, and help me find my mate" he answered.

"Right, the lady of the house?"

Sephtis snorted his laugh, Lady of the house? Dyce was mistaken.

"I am not looking for her to bring her back" Dyce furrowed his brows in confusion. Wasn't he planning to look for her and bring her back? Isn't that why he has been reading books about mates?

"Huh?"

"Once I find her" Sephtis began, his voice menacingly dry and hard, "Once I find her, I will kill her"

The dry air in Daemarral seemed to get drier after those words rolled off Sephtis' tongue.

"Lord, you don't mean it, do you?!" Fear gripped Dyce's bones as the rest of the word seemed to get stuck up his throat.

"Yes, I do Dyce" His affirmation worsened the fear he was feeling at the most.

"That is the Queen, your wife, and mate, why would you want to kill her?!!" he asked, worry and confusion evident in his voice.

Suddenly Sephtis gripped the collar of his hand's shirt and his blue eyes glazed brightly at him, "Tell me, do I look like someone who is destined to have a mate? Huh?"

He questioned.

Dyce went silent, he didn't know how well to answer the question. It was true, the other gods and goddesses thought of him as a veil god just because of his post and duty.

It was the same with gods who had similar positions. To them, they did pity whosoever is the unlucky woman to be mated to them.

It was the same with how Sephtis felt. How long has it been since a fellow god or goddess visited Daemarral? Dyce knew and understood why his lord was feeling this way, but to kill an innocent woman?

"Sire, please think this over" He pursued calmly, placing his hands over his that were gripping his collar.

"You haven't answered my question, Dyce, Do I look like someone who is destined to have a mate?" he repeated his question.

"Yes!!" Dyce replied without a doubt in his heart, mind, and soul. He was confident that his mate would change his perspective of things and also change Daemarral as a whole.

So yes, his lord was destined to have a mate.

Sephtis laugh humorously.

What utter mockery.

"Forget it, it doesn't matter anyway. Once I find out who it is I will kill her, the dreams will end, and we will all live happily ever after".

"Sire" Dyce whispered.

"Cerberus" Sephtis called out like the three-headed dog was right beside them.

Upon Sephtis call, the air stirred with electricity and the ground shook with terrible force under its massive paw. It unleashed a triumphant, thunderous roar that echoed through the space. Sephtis squatted to his knees waiting to receive the dog. The dog leaped up and landed by his feet with a loud thud.

The Cerberus was no ordinary beast; it was a guardian, a sentinel born of Sephtis magic to protect Daemarral. Cerberus was a massive and imposing animal.

Its body, was covered in midnight-black fur. Three fierce heads crowned with sharp, gleaming eyes rested on top of its necks.

The beast's fur bristled with anticipation, and its three pairs of dark eyes gleamed with unwavering devotion as it stared at its master.

It began panting out loud. The god placed his hands on one of its heads, and this action reminded him of his dream when his mate sat by the river with Cerberus just a few feet away from her.

Shaking his head from his ridiculous thoughts, he climbed onto the dog and stared done at Dyce.

"I don't know how long I would spend if I make it to the meeting, then I make it, I don't. It is as simple as that".

"But Sire" He called out, he was trying to figure out how he would piece everything in place.

"Well then, if you don't have anything to say, I will be on my way. You know the journey to Shidal is quite a distance from here".

Without giving Dyce a chance to express his persuasion, he left him hanging.

Or deities who possess a designated title, Such as Bunasis- Goddess of sleep and dreams, Ovther- God of memories and pastimes. But once they die, they disappear and get reincarnated.
