Chapter 39

I: As she helped him up, he slowly nodded to her and dusted off his body. "Fine, I won't diss the Paris education system for hunters anymore. I have never seen a rune like that, and it was very strong. I am damn glad you went to Paris now, because that demon almost ripped me to shreds. Thank you for saving my ass Jess." He took her hand and pulled her close to him, and he softly kissed her cheek. "And...you can fall on top of me anytime." He smirked a little and then looked to the darkness where she held up the light, and they began to travel the cave.

"There were people down here." Isaac began to put his hand to the sides of the wall, and he could feel where people had been digging and creating notches with their hands to climb the walls. It was dark, but he could smell that there was death in this place. Nothing smelled worse than a dead body, and nothing could make the skin crawl more knowing the person who died was trapped just as badly as you are trapped at the moment. "We have to find the way out. There may be a draft, and I could probably follow it and run ahead to see if it leads to the open world. If they created this cave, then there is obviously an exit. We need water and food."

Isaac began to walk faster, and he searched the walls for any sign of change from the constant darkness. He then stopped as in front of him there seemed to be two paths to take. Isaac walked ahead a few meters, and then walked back. He walked the opposite direction and it did not seem any different from the first. Isaac knew they were terribly lost, and he leaned against the wall and covered his eyes. "This is as far as we go for tonight Jess. My body is killing me. That whore of a vampire really put a number on me, and if I walk any more, I am going to pass out. Sit with me."

Isaac slid down the wall to the floor and he gently reached for her hand and pulled her close to him. "Jess, why the hell did you follow me? Why didn't you just move on with your life? You know that if you would not have come back to save me, you would be fine and with your family right now. Sipping Paris tea and laughing about how much of an idiot I am for letting you slip away again. I should have never proposed to you, Jess. I know that you didn't wear the ring because you don't love me anymore. But damn, you could have just told me instead of leaving it at home. I would have taken it back and pawned it. I am sorry I could not have been a better man for you."

B: She smiled when he said that he would not diss on Paris anymore. While she was there, she had grown to love the place and its people. She had learned not only French, but Spanish and Russian as well. When he pulled her close, she was hoping he would kiss her lips, but he kissed her cheeks. She wanted to laugh at the joke he made but couldn't. She knew this would either help them or break them up for good. She walked next to him with her hand up. The light was warm on her hand but not too hot.

When he said there were people here, she looked at the walls. As he spoke, she looked at him. "I know something we can do so we don't get to lost. We can put special marks on the walls." She said and looked at the wall. She took out her stele and drew a weird mark and it began to glow green. "We can draw this on each corner." She said and looked at him. As he settled down, she looked away from him. "Rest. I will stay up for now and watch for demons." She said and sat next to him.

"I was worried and very upset. I wanted to know who she was." She said softly. She pushed him away. "You shouldn't have?!?!?" She was upset now. "I left it there because I was going after a demon and did not want to lose the damned thing. Then do that once we get out of this damned hell and we go our separate ways." She got up and walked to the other side and sat down. She did not look at him and she cried softly. "Rest so we can get the hell out of here." She grumbled.

I: Isaac watched her little tantrum, and he began to softly laugh. "Jess, I'm sorry to hurt your feelings, but I had to test and see if you truly left it behind, or if you made up that story because you realized I took it back. You can keep pretending that you don't love me, but I know you do." Isaac then sadly looked down. "Jess, I did kiss the vampiress. I didn't mean to, and it was not intentional. When I walked up to her, she just laid it on me so I thought I couldn't do anything to stop it. It really woke me up, and it made me realize how badly I have missed you."

Isaac pushed against the wall and sighed. "Do you remember how we first met? You were terrified of going back, terrified of me. I could see it on your face, and your beautiful red lips, that you didn't want to be forced into a life that you did not belong to. I remember when I first touched you, and how it made me think that a woman like you being both strong and gentle, that somehow, I was jealous of it. I can't seem to be both strong and gentle, it is just not in my nature."

Isaac then looked at Jess, and he crawled to her side. He took her hand and put it in his lap, and he winced in pain as he sat beside her. "Jess, I love you so much. From the moment that demon hurt you and it made me want to keep you safe, in my arms and in my home forever, I had to keep you close to me. I hate the man I am without you. I swear to you Jess, I will never give you a reason to hate me. But please, if you accept me now, if you take me back, then let go of the term of breaking up. I won't let you break up with me again. I won't let you call our relationship off. But if you tell me that you truly do not love me, then I will end it here forever, and there will be no more us. I need you Jess. Take me back for good, and never let go of us again. Can you do that? Make that promise to me Jess, whether we live through this or die. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and only you."

B: Jess glared at him when he started to laugh at her. She listened to him but shook her head. "You are horrible." She said with no hint of a smile. When she returned to her room and the ring was gone, she went into a panic attack and turned her room inside out looking for it. When she could not find it, she freaked out even more.

As he started talking about the first day they met. She looked at him. Of course, she remembered. Having someone like Isaac walk up to you and tell you he is taking you to the institute is the scariest thing she has ever faced. She watched him as he spoke. Why was he bringing this all up? He had kissed that stupid vampire and probably got them in this mess.

When he crawled to her she glared slightly. "Isaac, I can't say I love you, not now, not after you kissed her. I am not saying I am not in love with you, because I am. I am just saying I cannot tell you I love you, not yet. You kissed someone else. If that was me who did that you would have dumped me quicker than a blink of an eye. You would not have given me the time of day to explain anything." She said without looking at him. She could not look him in the eyes. If she did, she would forget the whole kiss and agree to everything he had said.

I: "Jess what are you talking about? How do you know how I would react?" Isaac took her by the shoulders and made her face him. "Don't run from me Jessie. Look me in the eyes and tell me that you truly believe I would leave you after a stupid kiss with someone who means absolutely nothing to you. Would I be jealous? Sure, I would. I would probably be furious! But I would never let it end us. Or break or relationship."

Isaac turned from her and released her shoulders. "You give up so quickly Jess. Why couldn't you have more faith in me? More trust! I should have been able to tell you that I kissed her, and we should have made a plan to move past it or to find a way to rekindle our own love. We need to trust each other that if someone tries to interfere with our relationship that it won't affect us. That is all the vampire wanted, she wanted to ruin my happiness. She wanted to get to me. She knew I loved you! I told her in the interrogation room. So, tell me Jess, why would she be angry enough to set a trap for us? She wanted to break us up! And you..." Isaac looked away. "You are letting her do it. That vampire could have forced a thousand kisses on me Jess. And none of them combined could ever measure up to your lips on mine."

He grabbed her and kissed her lips deeply and pulled her to the ground to kiss her harder. "I won't let her ruin us Jess. You can't let that kiss take away our love. I won't let you." Isaac placed his hand on her thigh and softly massaged her soft skin. "I love you Jessie..."
