Skipping work to go to an amusement park
Alyssa's pov
" It was recorded that approximately 1500 people have died from this plaque. The residents are fraustated at their situation and they are demanding help from the government." reported a news reporter form AAW news on Tv.
" Change the channel." Said Dove
" We would like to know what the government and all the other associated partners will do about this case...." Another reporter said on TV. Remember the Yris? Well, they started a mini plague like situation in the northern parts of the country.
" All the channels are reporting on the plaque matter." I said to Hannah who requested that I should change the channel. It has been months since the exchange program started and it was almost time for us to go back to our countries.
Though things were not looking good for us because we had yet to find solutions for the Yris problem. All I knew was that being poked with needles and different gadets was no fun at all because that was exactly what we went through as per the exchange program stipulations.
" Breakfast is ready." Shouted Dove who was in the kitchen, she was in charge of our meals since she is the better cook.
sigh, " I can not believe that our time is up and we are going home already. Time moved way too fast, right guys?" Hannah said
" Yeah, The institute is a magical place and I learnt a lot from the hospital but I missed home so I am glad we are going back." Dove shared
" You are such a bore Dove. We have many unresolved businesses and you are thinking about leaving already?!" Hannah said, she was attached to the place.
" I am being honest plus it is not my fault that we were sent here for only six months." Dove fought back
" Plus the plaque thing is getting a little out of hand. I would rather be in my home country right now." She said
" Liar, you are using that as an excuse. Be honest, you miss a certain someone back home that you hid from us, Are we even friends?" Hannah said bringing up a topic we all avoided until now. Dove's family had found her a potential partner and Dove did not say a word to us until we accidentally found out a week ago.
" Now that is not fair, Hannah. I have not even met him in person so how could you say that?" Dove said a little hurt.
I had to do something before things got out of control.
" Okay guys, stop fighting. Let's enjoy the meal Dove made. We will talk about that when Dove is ready to talk about it and Hanaah sort out what ever you still need to fix before we leave so that we can all leave this place with no regrets and unnecessary ties." I said because I knew that they would not end their bickering and I too like Hannah have unfinished business I intend on sorting out before we leave.
" And the voice of reason has spoken." Hannah said as she used her forlk as a microphone.
" I thought I was the voice of reason." Dove said faking a hurt look
" Well, you better keep up because Alyssie wants to steal your spot." Hannah replied with a mischievous grin.
" I do not. " I said crossing my arms in front of my face and we all laughed.

Our last days there went by quietly and too quickly. The plaque was still the biggest threat to the country and probably world. Mine was that today would be my last day working with Dr Evans since the day our 'little cooperation' started in the paeds department. However, I was going to resolve somethings today as well so no regrets.
I waited for him outside his consultation office. Though I do not know why he had one because he hardly ever met patients in his office because he preferred meeting them on the surgery table and I am quoting his exact words. Though they were exceptions, famous people and many others would come to consult with him specifically so he did get to see patients in his consultation room.
The door opened and he gestured for me to come in. I entered the room,Like usual a few exceptions were going to consult with him and I was going to assist him as his apprentice.
" Next patient please." His assistance nurse shouted outside the room and an old man in a classy suit came in with his daughter. They walked arrogantly.
" Good morning, how may I help you today?" Dr Evans asked professionally, he was not fazed at all by the presence to the old man's surprise.
" Are you the best surgeon in the country? you look so young, are you sure you are not a scammer?" Said the old man ignoring Dr Evans' question. Dr Evans kept his professional face and did not reply to the old man's accusations. He instead looked at the young woman who was sitting next to the old man and asked her directly,
" How can I help you today, miss?" He asked this with a small smile. He really knows how to play his cards well when it comes to making a patient comfortable.
The young woman was so flustered that at the sight of Dr Evans' smiling face that she unconsciously dropped her phone.
" I...I...I" The young woman stuttered a little but could not even say what she wanted to say because the old man interrupted her.
" How dare you ignore me? Do you know who I am? You must be a fraud!" He said standing up and gesturing for the young woman to follow.
" I am not a fraud sir and the lady besides you needs treatment. At least if you prefer leaving my practice then make sure to take her to the nearest hospital." Dr Evans said to the old man then added, "though she may look fine, she needs to be stabilized asap."
" What do you mean?" The old man said and he stopped in his tracks. He looked scared after the doctor's relevation.
" prepare an IV line (drip) for the patient." He said to me and I went to the back room to get the supplies while he finished the conversation with the old man and the young woman.
I was struggling to get the rest of the material for the IV line( drip) when a hand certainly reached out from behind me and helped me get the package that was way out of my reach. Startled I moved back and bumped into him, he placed his hands on my shoulders and said
" Careful" he said with chuckle, " I did not mean to startle you, I just remembered that I placed the package way too high for a dwarf like you to reach."
" Ahem, Did you manage to get the patient to stay for the treatment?" I asked ignoring his remark and the hands that were still on my shoulders.
" Yes I did, you can give those to nurse Sherry and she will put up the drip. We are leaving." He said
" Why?" I asked
" It is your last day so we should do a little something before you leave. This is the real reason why I came to the back room." He said
" Okay..." I said

We did not go to a fancy restaurant. He took me to the amusement park.
" Well, since you are afterall an infant, I thought that the best place to take an infant is an amusement park." He said with a smug look as he stood leaning against his car.
" Come you are always so serious for a kid your age. So let's go inside and play some games, okay?"
" Doctor, I do not know if I should say this but since you started this I will...you do not act your age." To this he laughed and said, " I get that a lot. Besides I am only a few years older than you." He added with a wink.
" come on let us go to the earthest fastest roller coaster!" He said excitedly like a child as he held my hand and dragged me towards the ride.
" What? No! I would play any game or try any ride just not that." I panicked and stopped in my tracks though it was not of any use since he was stronger so he could still pull me towards the ride.
" Please stop, I am serious. I will not get on that ride." I pleaded with him because I am scared of heights and the movement of the ride would just make me dizzy which would lead to a disaster for me.
He slowed down a bit and then said," Do not worry, I will be with you and whatever happens, i will protect you. Trust me." And I did.
We got on the ride but my heart was beating fast before the operator even started anything. " You are really scared, aren't you? if you panic too much you won't enjoy the thrill." Dr Evans said
The ride started and I was so scared that instead of holding his hand, I crawled up in my seat and held the bar in front of me like my life was depending on it. He saw this and pulled me closer to him.
