Chaotic mind, girl meets inner confusion part 2
" Dr Steves, I shall have the honor of educating you as well," said Dr. Evans as he turned to Dr. Steves, the doctor Alyssa was assigned to. His actions alarmed a lot of the people present especially the consultant who thought that Calix Evans was on their side!
" Everyone please follow me to ward 39." Calix Evans continued
" What is the meaning of this, Dr Evans. We are in the middle of our ward rounds!" Said dr Steves
" Yes and this patient is also on the list so you are still going to present her anyway." Replied Calix Evans
" Then wait for her turn! We wasted enough time because of that student!" Dr Steves said and the other attending doctors nodded their heads in agreement.
" I can't, I have a surgery in 2 hours. May I present her case quickly since I actually treated her?" Calix Evans said as he looked at the consultant.
"sigh, go ahead." said the consultant.
At this Dr Steves began to panic because he was looking for that patient but then he could not find her and he assumed that he was correct in his initial assessment and the kid was sent home because she was fine. But it turns out Dr Evans treated her?!
" But senior..." Dr Steves began to object but was dismissed by the consultant. The consultant knew that he and his team could not afford to offend Dr Evans, he still needed funding for his research project!
The group of doctors and students went to Ward 39 which was a VIP ward. Dr Steves was sweating bullets because he could tell that something was wrong and he was not alone, the other doctors began to wonder if Dr Steves made the wrong assessment. 'But that was impossible!' the other doctors thought immediately dismissing such a ridiculous thought.
" See, the child is fine and happily playing by herself. Dr Evans why did you make such a scene over nothing. I bet you did not treat her for real and you just wanted to scare us." Dr Steves said as he laughed while fighting off the bad feeling he had about the situation.
Calix Evans ignored him.
" A paeds specialist at Areela earns about $200000 per consultation excluding all incentives, right?" He asked no one in particular
" Yes." one of the doctors replied with pride while the students gasped at the shocking figure.
" What a waste." Calix Evans replied. His response angered the group of paeds doctors but he did not seem to care. He looked at the consultant and said, " Your night shift team missed a silent chest diagnosis last night and it was this student who brought it to my attention." He said as he tilted his head in Alyssa's direction.
" What? That is impossible, as you know,our department received many awards for being the best department in detecting and preventing paeds death from respiratory failure with a silent chest." replied the one of the attending doctors
another said, " Are you sure what you treated was a silent chest?"
" yeah, maybe the kid got sick suddenly from something else like a pneumothorax, I mean she was from an accident scene." Said another attending doctor.
Calix Evans did not even bother to look at them let alone answer their questions. His focus and cold gaze was on the consultant who severely contemplating and weighing his options. Though he could feel Calix's cold gaze on him and it sent chills down his spine. The reason for this was not his youngest surgeon title but something else. The consultant knew that Calix was not a simple person and his background was complex and mysterious, he was not one to offend!
" Dr. Evans, I hear you and I am grateful that you helped us with this situation...ahem, let us finish the discussion after the ward rounds." The consultant finally said he knew that no matter how complex Calix's background was, Calix would not disobey him to a great extent because this was, after all, a military-based hospital, the best one in the country!
" I understand." Calix finally answered.
' Rules are rules after all! In military institutes, private family power does not work! But why he is helping this student?' the consultant thought to himself smugly.
However, Calix was not done! " Apologize to the students and we shall call it a day." He said to Dr Steves
" What madness is this? Why should I apologize?" Dr Steves said as he laughed and the other doctors joined in as well. To the students especially the non-Military ones, Dr Evans was very cool!
" Firstly you dismissed them and chose to teach those you deemed worthy, i guess and secondly plainly because you misassesed a patient and nearly cost this hospital millions of dollars." Calix said calmy
" Dr Evans you were once a student and you know that we ( the doctors) like proactive students who are ready for actions not those who duck their heads weach time we ask them to do something. It is not my fault that they are such pushovers." Dr Steves said
" That is interesting, very well then if i may be excused." Calix said as he turned to leave the ward. Dr Steves though that he embarrassed Calix that is why he was running away but little did he know that that was not the case!
"Wait Dr Evans, Dr Steves will write me a letter of reflection because of the mistake he has made and he will also write a thank you letter to you and your assistants in the case. There is no need for things to turn sour over such." The consultant said calmly because he knew what was going on in Calix's mind and they needed to the calamity heading their way!
Calix looked at Alyssa as though asking her if she was happy with the settlement. Alyssa unconsciously nodded her head. Calix then said to the consultant, " Thank you for your understanding senior."
The consultant nodded and looked at Dr Steves, " Do you agree?" He asked him
Dr Steves's facial expression was very sour, ' How dare they make him write a letter to a student?! Who does Dr Evans think he is? But he could not go against his consultant!' he thought.
" I accept the task, senior." He responded with a bitter and heavy heart. Dr Steves's heart was not the only one in turmoil, Alyssa was a mess as well!
Alyssa is the naive type of girl when it comes to love and relationships. She has never been in a relationship despite being of age to be in one but this was her own doing because she has had suitable suitors but they were all rejected. The rejections were to mask the fear and hurt instilled in her by her parents' failed marriage. When she was only a little girl her mother ran away with someone else and she saw what it did to her father. Her father tried to bring her back on multiple occasions and this earned her father the title of 'chasing a ghost wife' within the family because he would always come back home after getting news of his wife being sighted somewhere.
So despite growing up with a loving father who actually always read her fairytale love storiees it happily ever afters until the end, At age 16 she made the decision to never attempt to, let alone think about falling in love because love is a fleeting emotion. It left her parents' relationship and it took her mother away from her father. So in conclusion she does not believe in love and she is sure that she will never fall in love since it does not last forever what is the point in taking a short excursion that will only leave her with a bruised heart? Or so she thought...
Calix's demeanor was slowly rubbing off Alyssa and she was unconsciously letting him in her heart.

" So he stopped the ward rounds to go and proof a point all for you?" Hannah gushed with her hand on her mouth. This was after the drmatic end of the ward rounds and the girls came to get Alyssa from the hospital.
" What no, he helped all the exchange program students, not just me." Alyssa defended herself though the thought of him doing all of this just for her was making her heart feel weird and she kinda liked the feeling.
"Lies!" Hannah exclaimed, " And why does the juicy stuff always happen when we are not there?" She added.
" Nothing juicy happened." I mumbled
" Oh, you and him at the fountain enjoying the moonlight is juicy." Dove at as she looked at Alyssa through using the mirror because she was driving.
" Guys that is not the point! Why am I... Am I, you know?" Alyssa asked with a worried face
" What? Getting all sorts of fuzzy feelings when you picture his face in your mind?" Hannah said
" Or feeling said if he does not acknowledge your presence when you are in the same room?" Dove added
" Well...sort of." Alyssa admitted
Dove and Hannah looked at each other
" Yipeeeee." Hannah shouted, " Girl, you like him."
" Like a brother, yes," Alyssa said
" No not like that," Hannah said
" Yes, definitely not like that." Added Dove.
" What?! Are you two insane?! He is my brother's age, I can't look at him like that." Alyssa said
" And what is wrong with that? If you like him, there is nothing wrong with that besides i bet he feels the same way too." Said Hannah
" Not true!" Alyssa said
" Girl from teasing you to giving you his coat to defending you? What do you think it is?" Hannah asked
" I don't know. I think he is a polite person and he would do that for anyone else." Alyssa argued
Hannah facepalmed then said, " Our naive Alyssa." Sigh
" There is chemistry between the two of you. You are not the type to speak comfortably with just about anyone and I think since he is a doctor here, he values the hierarchy so he would not be comfortable around anyone particularyly a student for no reason unless..." Dove said but paused mid way as she parked the car in the resident driveway.
" Unless what?" Alyssa asked
" He likes you too." Dove said with a straight face looking at Alyssa.
" La la lalalalalaalala." Alyssa started to sing then said, " I am not going to listen to your weird theories anymore, what love?!" She covered her ears with her hands
Hannah laughed and said, " At least you did not say your catch phrase that is something."
" Catch phrase?" Alyssa asked as she stopped singing
" Yeah, the " love always fleets away" thing you like to say." Hannah said as she smirked devilshly.
Alyssa paused and looked at both girls before abruptly running out of the car into the apartment. Her thoughts were all over the place and jumbled, 'Did she really him? If so, if he liked her what would happen?'
