girl meets angry friend, Hannah's dark hidden past

We finally got to enter the premises and we were directed to our apartments with the statement that orientation and a tour would be given in 2 days. Right now we were in my room, I was sitting on the floor, Hannah on my bed and Dove on the comfy chair by the corner.

"why would you do that, Alyssie?!" shouted Hannah, she was livid and I totally understand her. " The situation was bad already and yes, I bet most students were able to tell that the poor girl had passed but to say it like that while the professor was attempting to save her was not cool at all girl. Why did you prove that jerk right anyway?!" She continued. I could not say anything to her I mean what could I possibly say when I was confused myself? 

" That is enough Han, she has had enough and I think your scolding has got through her." Dove said and I totally agree with her, Hannah is pretty scary when she is angry I would rather have her act crazy than be angry especially about such a touchy situation. If she was not an Damian heiress, she would have become an activist i am sure. Anyway I loved how Dove handled the situation until she said this next, "Now stop, we did not come here for you to fight over an unexpected tragedy, let it go." Big mistake.

" Let it go? you just said I should let go of a situation whereby a girl my age was murdered by some psycho and then had my friend, my best friend say to a girl crying her eyes out over her sister who was her only living relative that she could no longer be saved because 20 minutes has passed?!" she said fuming with her face turning slightly red. " What happened to not forgetting all we were taught at our school?"

" Do not shout, Han. We were all there and we heard the story and it is very sad but we can only empathize but that is it. There is nothing more and as for what Alyssie did, you know that she is not like that and perhaps just hearing her out instead of lashing out like this would help." Dove offered.

"It turns out the girl I assumed was the friend of the girl who was killed was actually her older sister and she was accompanying her young sister ( Anna was her name) to school after getting chosen for the exchange despite going to a public university. The older sister worked several jobs to make sure that her younger sister got a decent university life and they were both happy until the girl met the guy, her boyfriend, who killed her. The guy was decent and sweet to Anna in the beginning and bought her everything things from teddy bears to accessories and clothes. Then he ( according to the older sister) started showing his true colors as he cheated on Anna and who later broke up with him and the sister thinks that was the reason behind her being attacked and murdered by him. This is one of the reasons I do not even consider loving someone let alone letting the person into my life into my life." I narrated the story we were told after the police and ambulance took Anna away again.

" I know Hannah, We know, the both of us, how strongly you feel about this situation and maybe I should have not stated things in public like that and I have no excuses. I have apologized to Anna's sister and now to you, I am sorry, really I am. That is not all though, Hannah, what happened back there, I would not wish it on anyone and no human being deserves that, we all deserve to be treated with love and respect and violence is never the answer which was why I confronted the surgeon." I said to Hannah " Please do not fight with Dove okay? I am at fault here." I said 

" It is okay, maybe I overreacted." Her voice was a bit raspy and she suddenly looked defeated. She continued " I was stalked when I was in middle school, my aunt who was looking after me at the time thought I was being paranoid and that is exactly what she told my parents and they believed her. She said that people looked at me because I am a Damian but that wasn't it."she paused " They were almost too late and I would have ended up like..." she choked on her words and couldn't finish the sentence

" that must have been horrifying, I really feel bad." I said as Dove and I hugged her.

" why didn't you tell us? I am sorry Han," Dove said 

"I thought I would leave the past in the past because I have things to look forward to here in the present and in the future. And you guys have played a role in that." Hannah said as she wiped her tears away 

" I did not know I am sorry," I whispered while hugging her, I could feel that I was on the verge of bursting into tears. 

" It is alright now Alyssie, I did not tell you guys that is why you did not know, okay? Now tell us how you were so courageous as to confront a surgeon who could possibly be our instructor." One thing about Hannah, she is knows how to flash a brave grin and tell you to move forward while she is not okay and that is why I feel bad because she is such a good friend, they both are and sometimes, I think I am not. 

" Now stop being my crybaby and show me that you are ready to turn 21 in a few months and stop crying and explain to us. In detail."Hannah continued and Doved added " Yes, In detail." at this, I could not help but laugh. 

" Alright, alright I will tell you in detail." I repeated their words as I rolled my eyes. 

" Yes, everything you said and everything he said in the exact order." Dove said 

" Even I know that is impossible, D. At least now I also know that you too have moments of stupidity." Hannah responded with a grin that showed that she is actually enjoying being of a 'superior' intellect than Dove. 

Laughing I said, "Why are you guys so obsessed with the conversation I had with the surgeon any way?" 

" I do not maybe because there might be electrical sparks floating in the air between the two of you." Dove said as she grinned too and this was a rare sight because she was the ' serious' one among the three of us. And for her to say such was just...

" What sparks? Was that the reason why you were defending her actions earlier?" Hannah said as she narrowed her eyes at Dove. " Why did you not tell me?!" she continued " Come on, what did you see?" she added again 

" Enough with the 23 questions, the time was not right that is why you of all people did not notice anything with your friend right there and the handsome surgeon," Dove said 

" There were no sparks people, I just gave a grand speech about not letting anyone into my life! Where would the sparks come from?! I asked exasperated, I hated this topic especially if it was centered around me. Love is a fleeting emotion...it always is. 

"There were definitely sparks if Dove saw considering how she is blind most of the time." Hannah said " Plus she is our A-student so I do not think she would make this up" she added while having a knowing smile plastered on her face.

" There weren't any." I grumbled showing my displeasure " Love is a fleeting emotion, it always is." I stated what I had in my thoughts. 

" Uh-huh, until you find the right person to help you catch it." They said in unison. Honestly, they came up with that to counter my phrase.

" Do you want to hear about the confrontation or not?" I said with a serious face this time around.

" We do." Dove answered for the both of them, then she quickly added " It was in their eyes, Han. I saw it." She grinned then said " Please continue mrs- surgeon- to- be." She said with a smirk to which Hannah responded with a playful shocked expression and a giggle. 

" I will walk away right this instant." I stated half joking, half serious. I do not know where she is getting all this nonsense, what eyes?! 

"Okay, okay. Enough Dove, I wanna hear the beginning of a love story for our dear friend."She said giggling

" I am done," I said as I got off the bed in an attempt to leave only to be wrestled back by Hannah who was laughing so hard that she cried. " I am sorry, now tell us, How did you confront him?" She said with her eyes shining brightly either because of the tears or the saying " The eyes are the window to a person's soul" is true because Hannah's eyes showed her curiosity about the story I was about to share.
