Embarrassment with a tinge of a new unknown blossoming feeling

"Thank you for inviting me to lunch," I said " And it was a pleasure to meet you, Prof Smit." I continued as I gave a polite bow 

" You are always welcome Alyssie, may I call you that? I mean, of course, I can since we are gonna be best friends anyway." A grinning Aidan said to me and I simply smiled back but I was not so sure about the 'best friends' part. 

" You are welcome, Miss Falls. We will meet again in class and at the hospital." Prof Smit curtly replied. 

" what about me?" Mr Evans asked and I turned to face him.

" What do you mean, sir?" I replied 

" Sir?" He asked 

" I mean Mr Evans." I corrected 

" I do not know who you are referring to because my father, Mr Evans is at home." He replied with a smirk. 

Aidan laughed out loud at this and eventually stopped when Jason glared at him, he's keeping a tight leash on his friend at least. Prof Smit still had a poker face and I was confused. 

" But you introduced yourself as Mr Evans this morning?" I said and I believe that I looked the part of being confused by what he said because he legit introduced himself as " Mr Evans" in class earlier today.

" Oh, you are playing dumb because we have an audience?" He said in a half-question, half statement. 

" I do not understand, si-." I answered back and almost called him sir yet again. " I mean how do you wish me to address you?" 

" Oh, so you are going to play dumb?" He said as he raised a brow in my direction assessing if I do not remember whatever incidence he was referring to. I was blank and my facial expression showed 

He sighed then continued, " Well, then since you do not remember let me refresh your memory, which one do u wanna hear first 1 or 2 ?" 

" pardon?" I asked 

" Just pick 1 or 2. I want to see where this is going." Aidan said with a curious glint in his eyes.

" Aidan, keep quiet." Prof Smit said. 

" Come on master, I bet you are also curious about the options she was given," Aidan said as he pouted his lips and crossed his arms against his chest.

" I can see that your master does not give you enough homework, do you want me to add?" Mr Evans stated while looking at Aidan. 

Jason snickered. He does not react much.

" Uncle Cal not you too! (huffs) The world is suddenly against me all because of one lady." Aidan said as he scoffed with his arms still crossed 

" You're still talking?" Mr Evans asked him and Aidan suddenly looked frightened.

" No, sir." He said in a hushed tone but the curiosity in his eyes could not be hidden. 

" Now, where were we?" Mr Evans spoke this time directing his focus to me.

" One." I said without hesitation.

" Are you sure?" He asked and I swear I could see the laughter in his eyes.

" Yes, I am." I said with all the courage i could master, his question made me feel uneasy.

" Okay." He responded.

The room fell silent. 

tick tok tick tok tick tok. The silence made me unusually sensitive to the sounds from within the private room and outside of it. Why was he making us wait in suspense? 

(exhales sharply) " You gave three knocks and came in before I could answer and you got a chance to take a good look at me shirtless..." he said very slowly and I bet he did it deliberately

" TWO!" I screamed " I choose Two." I said more calmly though my change in color was not helping my case, I think I changed to all shades of color. How could he?! He wants to remind me of such an embrassing occurence in front of people?! His friend and pupils to make matters worse! Is he for real?!

Prof Smit could not control his facial expression this time and chuckled then hid that behind a cough and went back to his poker face.

Jason was shocked and Aidan wanted Mr Evans to pick off where he left off. He'd better not.

" Eye candy." He said with a proud grin and right there if the Earth would open up for me to hide, I would be saved. 

Sigh. 

" I never made the remark and I made it clear in class," I said frowning to hide my embarrassment.

" So one it is." He said as he leaned backward on his chair and drank his cola with a genuinely victorious smirk.

" I beg to differ, can I get other options. Your options seemed... a bit unreasonable." I said

" Unreasonable? He is not even warmed up yet. You have yet to see how unreasonable uncle Cal can get to be, right Jay ( Jason) ?" said Aidan. He completely forgot about his initial fright when Mr Evans promised him extra homework, whatever that was. 

" Aidan?" Mr Evans called with a smile that was not a smile.

" Yes, Uncle Cal?" Aidan replied with a sheepish smile.

" Get lost." Mr Evans said 

" Uncle Cal, why are you always targeting me?! Am I easy to bully? See, Alyssie, He is unreasonable." Aidan whinned 

Instead of replying to Aidan, Mr Evans looked at me then at Aidan and then continued straing at me. " very handsome." he said.

" Huh?" I responded 

" Very handsome, don't you remember?" He said looking slightly hurt and he even faked clenching his heart. And I say fake because he clenched his right side instead of the left.

" Wait, Ca-Calix? " I asked with a doubtful expression, there is no way I will go on a first name basis with my senior at a military hospital!

*gasp* " You even know that, Alyssie?" Aidan asked with eyes looking like they would pop out at any moment. The shocker of all was how Jason's expression mirrored Aidan's. What was surpising about this? The first name basis or knowing the meaning of the name?

" Ignore the idiot." Mr Evans said to me and I laughed out of habit because Dove usually says that about Hannah.

" And she smiled. My hardwork did not go to waste." Mr Evans said giving me a genuine smile and the others smiled as well. Wait, what was going on? 

" Alyssie, you seemed kinda tense earlier and it was not easy to get through you so seeing you laugh is a great milestone. " Aidan said 

" Oh, I did not notice. I hope I did not make things awkwards for everyone." I said as I bowed to apologize.

" No not at all. I mean you were dining with strangers or semi-strangers. I just hope that next time you'll be more relaxed." Aidan said 

" That's if there will be a next time..." He added with a trace of doubt in his voice

" Oh, there will be."Mr Evans replied with a smirk before I could, unbelievable.

Aidan did not take it and waited for me to respond. " I am sure, I will be next time." I said with a reassuring smile.

I turned to Mr Evans and said " Sir, I do not think I can be able to call you on a first name basis especially considering the fact that I am temporarily attending at the military hospital and you are my superior." 

" Then how would you like to address me? " He asked 

" By a different title maybe? " I suggested 

" Alryt, doctor." He said

" Pardon?" I asked once more

" Dr Evans will be more suitable for now considering the environment like you said."he said

" Alright thank you, Dr Evans. It has a nice ring to it. " I said a little too loud because I was happy to have settled that though I can't remember why we got caught up in how I should address him. I must confess though that I felt dumb for not putting two and two together.

He is a surgeon and a doctor and so of course his title would be doctor...Dr Evans. I am happy.
